His dad's name was confirmed on the deed that is public records. Pman pretty much told where the condo was when he got it.

oh that's totally normal in his situation - i know a guy who makes 7 figures a year sportsbetting but still needs both his manhattan apartment and his hells kitchen office (he employs like 7 people) in his mom's name as a cosigner simply because the landlords freak out when they see his enterprise is in gambling

it's a fully registered company, gives himself a salary, they still don't like the idea of it and require someone more reliable in his mom to cosign everything

as a professional gambler who's been looking at relocating to nyc myself, it's been a real issue where they always want proof of employment and when i tell them i'm self employed a la gambling then they just assume i'm a drug dealer or whatever and want nothing to do with me - imagine vegas is a bit more friendly for that stuff but it's a real thing where a landlord can see tenant streams on twitch for a living with 30 subs and decides they want the dad's name on it because the dad is more reliable should pman be short on funds

not saying who is paying one way or the other - but totally reasonable for it to be in his dad's name, something which i may have to end up conceding defeat on myself in the near future as i'm packing up and leaving maine finally

There is no rent, his dad bought it in full, possibly Pman makes some kind of payments back to his dad, probably very relaxed payment schedule.

Of course there is HOA and other bills though.

I remember with my first apartment when I was playing online FT circa 2008 the leasing manager was skeptical about giving me the apartment. I had a feeling that would happen and threw down 2 months worth of rent (~$1800) from my wallet, and told her I could pay the entire year up front if she gave me 10 minutes to walk to the ATM and back. That was the end of the conversation, signed the lease as normal and went from there.

I've had to do similar.
I've also found it way easier with smaller landlords. Tell a small landlord here's 6 months or a year's rent up front and their concerns disappear real quick.
From what I understand in Vegas stuff like this really isn't an issue but in a lot of places it is.

Just follow the ELD method of hotels that way no deposits are needed

A lot of fascinating stuff in this post. You don’t find that many professional gamblers who live in Maine. Are you primarily a sports bettor? How long have you been at it and how did you get your start? I remember years ago going to Scarborough Downs one night.

In my defense I didn't know about his brilliant methods when I was first renting places!

mostly dfs and sportsbetting with a tiny bit of advantage play and poker mixed in

maine is not good for sportsbetting because the only legal site which bothered to open anything up here is draftkings and within 3-4 months i got that account nuked so i can't wager more than a few bucks on anything and last night was actually trader reviewed to turn a $500 wager into a 90 cent one

it also sucks balls for poker as there's none in the state, the casinos here don't have poker rooms nor sportsbooks

so that's a big reason for relocating is that all my outs here are offshore and via bookies and those are all drying up - but the other reason is there's not much of a viable dating pool up where i am

scarborough downs is kaput for a while (i think covid took it out idk), it's a costco now (or there's a costco next door i don't recall)

actually looked it up, the costco is nextdoor and they're turning it into a residential community

last weekend went to the blueberry festival for the demolition derby and discovered that last year was the first year they didn't have harness racing after 120 years of continued racing, this year was also no racing

i also grew up next to great barrington mass, which itself had a race track which was destroyed by a tornado and never got rebuilt - america is a graveyard of old racetracks

Why nyc? It's absurdly expensive and there must be 40 other states with plenty of chicks and gambling.

nyc is the only place in the country where i have multiple irl friends

it's also got a legit dating pool - but that's the case for any city in USA#1

mostly, after spending your entire life living in major international metropolitan cities - it's exceedingly difficult to consider single life away from one most US cities are quite insular imo - i think i'd be perfectly content living anywhere if i were settled down with a family - but not at this juncture

in nyc, it won't draw attention that i've lived abroad and speak a foreign language fluently - if it comes up in conversation someone may say "oh neat" and then if they have something about themselves similar they bring that up and we have a back and forth conversation as peers or just move along to another subject

in most other places if that comes to light, i'm now "that guy" and they'll announce it to everyone - ie i order a drink from the bar and that guy will tell the bartender "do you know this guy lived in xyz" just out of the blue and for no reason other than it's such a shocking novelty to them that they can't understand it

so everyone's first impression is not of rickroll, the sweet dude who sometimes writes erotic poker vlogger fan fiction online, but instead i'm that travel guy - next time i see them, they won't remember my name but instead ask me what asian vaginas are like

Rickroll, I have learned an incredible amount about you today, all of it surprising. New York IS expensive, but it’s also the best. Go for it, you’ll love it! I’m rooting for you to make a big score, and then make a big move!

I'm not from USA so this is a genuine question..... would they be like this if you had lived literally anyone overseas (e.g. Australia/ France) or is it because they see you as a sex tourist?

a huge chunk of my time was in arabic countries where everyone was covered in burkas and for most of it i was in a long term relationship or marriage so if they think i'm a sex tourist then they're rtarded

they ask about other vaginas as well, but the majority want to know about asian ones and this is also supported by science as asian women tend to perform the best across races both in studies and in online dating stats

i've also had more than one 2p2er randomly dm me over the years with a random "wow you probably banged some asian women on your travels, that's pretty awesome" - get about one of those a year - it's so consistent it wouldn't surprise me if it's just someone i know here making burners just to mess with me

Fair enough..... seems very odd that people would treat you any different because of living overseas. I've been in Singapore for 7 years but it is still normal when I go back to UK! I guess some people are interested in Asian women but those seem like incel questions!

europeans are not as surprised because for them leaving the country is a normal thing and often done as a day trip whereas for us, our country so massive that you basically need to go to another continent on a 12 hour flight just to leave unless you go to canada (gross)

also think with the leftovers of the colonial presence that knowing people who lived in asia, particularly hk and singapore wouldn't be that uncommon as most of the expats i knew who grew up there had british roots

really like singapore but man that place was expensive

Yeah I think that's a pretty good explanation. Singapore is very expensive for visitors but not too bad if you live and work here. Actually much better for savings than uk where the economy is poop

So are you going to tell us what they are like or what?

Ill always remember you for the erotic trooper fanfic, got me through many lonely nights

You should definitely move to new york

right before my grandfather passed, he jokingly asked me about their sideways vaginas right in front a whole bunch of people and quite loudly

that's always been my answer, same as us, but their vaginas are sideways

glad you liked the fanfic, perhaps i'll resume it at some point, ngl, i was a bit disturbed by how easily that prose got typed down like i'd been practicing for that moment my entire life 😀

In the latest installment ELD posts a video of walking outside the Airbnb.

Hopefully these videos will abate and more nomadic videos will resume.

Yeah I’d imagine this is easier with smaller landlords…way back like 2007-08 I tried the same tactic and the bigco landlord was like lolno you still need a co-sign (lack of credit) one of the reasons IMO it’s important to have a credit card when young (just treat it like a debit card a pay it off in full each month)

NYC landlords require proof of 40x annual income to monthly rent.

I was just looking through El D's channel. Apparently his Day 17 dealing video got 63K views.

That's really good considering he usually gets 1 - 3K views per video.
