LeBron > Jordan GOAT Super AIDS Containment, solved #22999 post by Matt R. (addendum #23174)
Very impressed with the minute sequence where LeBron clearly lost the ball headed to the rim, heat got the ball anyway and scored, then he elbows his defender in the chin, drawing a defensive foul and stern talking to from the official and hitting a 3.
It's these ref assisted 5 point swings in close games that truly bring out the best in great players.

The thread that will go on for years..........

Wow America's down-hill skillsets and inferior brand of ball routinely underperforms favored talent - we play inferior basketball now - thanks Adam Silver
Players like MJ, Kobe, Lebron, and KD exist because they came up in a tougher format and brand of ball, whereas Silver's rule changes have produced a beginner format that cannot produce any more generational players..
Normally, a generational player like MJ comes along at the end of Dr. J's career, and then Kobe/Lebron came along at the end of MJ's career, and so on... But there are no generational American players on the horizon and it's overdue for our "next Jordan" because it's a beginner format now that cannot produce generational players anymore... And don't give me Cooper Flagg - he's slow with a broke jumper and won't even be as good as Gordon Hayward got..
Again, thanks Adam Silver for destroying the quality of American basketball (brand of ball) and the quality of America's players (generational players cannot be produced by today's beginner format).
The world hasn't gotten THAT much better that every Tom, Dick, and Harry is nearly beating us with zero talent compared to our roster - this proves that our quality of basketball is trash and if can barely beat Sudan, then we would get destroyed by MJ/Bird/Magic and company.. it's ridiculous how much worse today's players are at basketball - their touch in traffic and basketball instinct has been dulled by the NBA's hands-off, spaced-out beginner format.
Lebron doesn't elevate teammates because the story is always how his teammates are underperforming, even against countries that don't have indoor court.
Imagine turning 11 other superstars into spot-up shooter (except White) - that's what Lebron just did, and this "bron-ball" chemistry caused the US to underperform against South Sudan.. Superstar teammates actually played badly against this opponent.
High-scoring ball-dominators like Lebron, Luka, SGA, Westbrook and Harden reduce their teammates' assists and increase their assisted rate (impose spot-up roles), which prevents teammates and the team from playing to capacity or the best brand of 5-man basketball where everyone plays well..
This proclivity of the "down-hill" sklilset to impose spot-up roles is exacerbated by Silver's dumbed down game that produces weak basketball instinct in traffic (because there is no traffic due to defensive 3 seconds that clears the paint for penetrators and hands-off perimeter defense equals automatic penetration).
2007 League average TS vs Lebron
Playoffs - 53.0
Lebron - 51.6
2008 League average TS vs Lebron
Playoffs - 53.2
Lebron - 52.5
2015 League average TS vs Lebron
Playoffs - 52.6
Lebron - 48.7
2021 League average TS vs Lebron
Playoffs - 57.1
Lebron - 56.4
So Lebron's true shooting was below league-average for 5 playoff runs compared to 1 for Jordan, which was a 3-game series vs Celtics in 87' at 23 years old.. This compares to 08' Lebron, except Jordan averaged 36/7/6/2/2 on 53 TS, while Lebron averaged 27/6/8/2/1 on 48 TS.
The 2015 Playoffs was the closest that Lebron got to an "MJ burden" and he shot horrifically - he was far below league average - he played exactly like Iverson with worst-ever efficiency and defense, but the spineless media gave him credit for it.. It's especially bad because the Warriors didn't double-team Lebron and left him alone on an island with the most secluded and consistent clear-outs that the game has ever seen... But the high shooting volume required more jumpers, which destroyed LeBrick's shooting efficiency.
How many game-winners for Lebron in the Finals?.. In the Finals, how many times did he score on the last possession of a 1-possession game?
👍
Love the new thread title.
Today's sports world is full of frauds like Jake Paul, Lebron, and the WSOP winner
Bum-hunters, colluders, and cheaters, respectively
Nothing real. No one wants to compete anymore - everyone wants the cheat code
The issue is that people cower in front of rich people.. So the people that must enforce the rules or call out the fraud make like 80k a year, and they're too much of a pussy to tell a millionaire that they can't do something or criticize them in any way.
.
The most points that the original Dream Team allowed was 85 points to HOF's Petrovic, Kukoc and Dino Radja, while the 24' Dream Team allowed 100 points from unknown Sudanese players:
So it's clear-cut - today's players are much worse.
Specifically, they're worse at 5-man basketball/team basketball, ball movement, chemistry, and mid-range touch or 2-point shot-making in traffic.. Today's player also lacks great hoops instinct to react quickly in high-traffic spots because they grew up in a hands-off, spaced-out beginner format.
For example, in the NBA format, Jokic can catch the ball at the elbow and just stand there and wait - the help defenders are so spaced-out and far away that Jokic can take all day to find the open man... But in previous eras, he would catch the ball on the elbow and need to react quickly and immediately because help defenders are in the immediate vicinity and within armslength - quicker decisions are required, which develops superior hoops instinct and effective basketball that we see from international teams.. Meanwhile, our superior athletic talent is wasted by inferior team basketball that stems from the beginner format/rules employed by the NBA...
aka defensive 3 seconds keeps our lanes clear and allows ball-handlers to manipulate the rules by making their drives when the help defender vacating the paint to avoid the 3 second count - this is standard in today's game and it allows easy driving lanes for today's players, but these lanes aren't available in the international game, so superior, 5-man basketball is required.

cliffs on elon musk?

1) Lebron cannot get a better cast than the current one, yet the team is still underperforming, which confirms that Lebron's skillset needs more help regardless of cast.. For 22 years, the story is always about badly-performing teammates - Lebron's "down-hill" skillset isn't 5 man basketball and imposes spot-up roles, thereby yielding bad chemistry that underperforms favored talent.. The upcoming debacle in the Olympics will be the best and crowning example of my claims.
2) When Lebron "got help", he only won 4 chips in 10 years from 2011-2020, while MJ won 6 in 8 years after getting an all-star teammate in 1990.
3) Even before Lebron "got help" in 2011, his Cleveland teams from 06-10' had equal or better casts on both sides of the ball than the 1st three-peat Bulls.. This includes more scoring options, better-ranked defenses, better rebounding help, rim protection and more all-star help or all-star caliber teammates.. This is statistical fact and historical fact..
Lebron was following the path of great players by having an organic juggernaut and league favorite by year 6 or 7, but he simply gave up on the chemistry learning curve - he gave up on learning the chemistry required to win with normal rosters of 1 franchise player and obtained better rosters by putting 3 franchise players on 1 team (super-team).. This is a talent-based approach to winning, so he never really learned how to win (develop chemistry), thereby needing more help/talent regardless of cast (talent-based winning).
lol bron-ball is our plan for the Olympics?
American basketball is DEAD if 40-year old bron-ball is the best basketball we have to offer - a brand that cannot compete on the championship level (lottery record on championship level).
And American hoops will never recover because America's hands-off, defensive 3, open paint beginner format cannot produce generational players.
Going forward, what a horrible era to be an American fan.. I'm actually into the WNBA
Girls is players too.
And Elon Musk is the GOAT.
.
Karl Malone with primary ball-handler skillset instead of PF:
I can't imagine how this doesn't fit with other ball-handlers and needs elite shooters like Kyrie/Mo/Korver.
Clumsy bully-ball that yields bad chemistry compared to the smooth plays of MJ and Kobe.
Actually, this guy is the goat:
And the girls play a superior and more diverse brand of ball that includes plenty of threes but they still use the post a lot too..
They're also more competitive, tougher, and hungrier - it's a much better watch of you get to know the players.
Btw, the fake coverage of Lebron began after he got personal in attacking Barkley around 2017 - the media has been scared of him ever since and they've blindly praised him ever since.
For example, Lebron has always gotten a pass for getting blown away in "toss-up" series, such as the 14' Finals or 23' WCF... Infact, it was considered a success and overachievement to get swept in the 23' WCF while choking down the stretch of 4 straight games.. Ultimately, when MJ lost, it meant that he wasn't GOAT, but when Lebron loses, it's because he needed more help.. 100% unfair and inaccurate coverage.
No other all-timer like Curry, MJ, or Kobe would get a pass for blowout losses in toss-up series or losses when favored like Lebron in 09', 10', 14', 17', and 23' - he got a pass for all this and also lottery in 19' & 22'.. And the worst championship record, yet a pass for everything.. Pass... Pass... Pass Pass... the poor guy just needed more help (but what will they say after the Olympics - it will prove he's a loser, regardless of cast, although 22 years already shows that he mostly loses regardless of cast.
Facts are now hate
It's completely legit what Jake Paul is doing, aka training in boxing for 10 years and then challenging 1st-timers
That's totally legit
And of course Magic and Bird teaming up like Lebron does would've been better.. We wouldn't look at their ring quality any differently
And tbh, the WSOP winner was completely alpha by basically running over an extremely soft and spineless poker community - he was like"say something.. I dare ya".. it was a great read - he knew those pansies wouldn't say anything.. I'm sure he's started a trend.

Magic and Bird both had stacked teams given to them anyways. Bad example. Keep crying and posting nonsense for hours a day because the general consensus is that the guy you hate so much is one of the greatest athletes to ever live.
Kobe gets a pass for having a couple of seasons where he took 20 shots a game at 35% for teams that won 20 games a year. Yeah bro making the conference finals is way worse.
Jordan gets a pass for his Wizards years. Curry lost to LeBron and needed Durant to come join him. Your hate is comical.
Jake Paul and Jamie Gold ITT?
