Update April 2018

OK Vlogger Thread, we are going with some new parameters to try to make this the POSITIVE vlogger thread that it is supposed to be, not the AIDS vlogger thread where a few loonies ruin it for the rest. Note that 'positive' does not equal 'only positive', it means anything negative being said CAN'T be namecalling or wild, unsubstantiated speculation regarding any and all vloggers. Personal lives and anything aside from poker is OFF THE TABLE.

A new update March 2019:
NO ****ING POLITICS!
A lot do but it's not like it's some hard and fast rule for every landlord.
Give a small landlord a year's rent up front ESPECIALLY in NYC which is the most tenant friendly city in the country, and see how fast that **** goes out the window.
Anyone want some investment advice from TBC
Because a 200k sock roll to him would be the ultimate and he would be set for life in his mind, so why risk more than $25 from his current sock roll. lol
200K can buy a lot of microwavable mashed potatoes from the Walmarts
I just read his last couple blog posts. TBC has lost over half his roll in the last few months. 50k to 23k. Just left Dallas after shortstacking $60 bullets. How long until he is living in the tunnels?
Pman you need a roommate?

TBC always gets down to 15-20k before he turns things around. It's pretty incredible actually.
I believe the xrp market cap would be roughly 5.5 trillion dollars if xrp went to 10k a coin, Bitcoin market cap is 1.3 trillion for reference
so you're telling me there's a chance?
Yep he hit that 10k jackpot a few months back, without that hed have a 10k roll right now. He's also complaining about his 4k/month living expenses. So he only has a few months expenses if those numbers are correct.
Games are tighter and tougher than years past. He certainly hasn't gotten any better. It was clear Trooper wasn't beating the games anymore, nor is Diesel. Now its happening to TBC too. I mean what can your winrate possibly be by shortstacking 1-2nl??
This is what makes poker a tough career. Guys feel like they are sustaining, but every year inflation, rake increases, improvements in opponents skill levels, etc chips away a little more. Simply meeting your expenses isn’t enough, if you’re not growing your bankroll you’re falling behind.
I just can’t imagine thinking poker is a good idea if you aren’t even great at the game. The skill level returns on experience drop off so fast. The pros getting discussed in this thread could have most of their edge erased by some intro training site videos showing preflop charts and some value betting thresholds. The only edge starts to be patience/discipline, and that’s not hard to shave by changing the game structure (stand up game, antes, decreasing max number of players per table…😉.

However Rice would tell you that inflation doesn’t impact him. He is immune to it. If you had turned downed a law career you would understand this.
Diesel is pretty immune..for now
He pretty much only buys really cheap groceries, sausages, bananas, onions, peppers, eggs, oatmeal, rice
thise are all dirt cheap stuff, he gets all his condiments in packets for free
He is pretty much banking on comped/cheap rooms to sustain his lifestyle so if those rooms dissapear his entire life plan will be upended.

That’s not immunity, he’s just sustaining. You don’t understand inflation; all those cheap goods increase at the same inflation rate. If he is breaking even or even slightly ahead on his budget now, he still gets crushed if his income doesn’t increase at least at the same rate as his expenses. It’s always just a matter of time. That $30 room only goes up by a dollar in a single year so you don’t notice, but it still doubles in price over 20 years.
You’re also ignoring my other points about his winnrate. His stagnating skill level in the current environment (increasing rake and pool skill level) results in decreased income every year. He isn’t even standing still, he’s stumbling up hill. He’s like 4 years into the career and he already can’t meet his expenses without dipping into savings or taking side work. It’s going to get worse every year.
In a recent YouTube video, Diesel/Rice said the days of winning a buy-in a day are over.
Last year (2023) Rice made maybe $5 to $7/hr tops.
And in 2022 Rice made less than $10/hr.
The vast majority of Rice's winnings come from promo grinding now.

not sure but he's definitely way better at poker than those 2.
I think when he gets over a certain point he's more likely to gamble on stupid **** and lose his ass. Then he starts getting low on funds and tightens up a lot. It's not like he goes on 30 downswings from 1/2 nl.

that's the trap. and with the cost of everything going up 1/3 nl is basically just good enough to pay your living expenses without much leftover and you get caught on the hamster wheel.Even Vegas isn't that cheap anymore. I mean if you're young and you do it for a couple of years while you travel, party, etc before you get a real job that's great. Otherwise you better really put in a lot of hours and move up quick.
I was 20 or 21 when I started playing poker online during the boom. I didn't know **** about poker I just played really tight. Back then bonuses were abundant. I think the first 3-4 months I made 3-4k a month online breaking even playing and clearing bonuses (BONUSWHORES.COM for the win!). I was like this is awesome if I can **** off and make a few thousand a month with hardly any bills while my friends were working shitty jobs making the same or less life was good.
Luckily back then everyone sucked and within a year I went from basically breaking even at .5/1.00 LIMIT clearing bonuses to beating 5/10 and 10/20 NL for a **** ton of money playing against droolers online.
If that wasn't possible back then I'm sure I would have quit poker within 2-3 years.
Way too many people though say they're pros then one day they wake up at 30 or 35 with basically no money to their name and a decade long resume gap and now they're pretty much stuck barring a huge tourney bink. And I've seen these people over the years still barely getting by in the 40s. It's not pretty.
I was just looking through El D's channel. Apparently his Day 17 dealing video got 63K views.
That's really good considering he usually gets 1 - 3K views per video.
Holy crap! I'd attribute it to the title of the video, "Pay Earned For Dealing Poker...." That is a pretty good title.
Will ElD learn from this? I'd wager, nope!

He also had chips stacked up to denote the pay in the thumbnail.
But why do any of that when he can just stick his big head in the middle and hold up a few fingers as if he's making a Sesame Street counting video.
It's funny how El D and Trooper have spent so much time making YouTube videos, but have invested 0 time in learning how to succeed doing YouTube.

I know how inflation works, it's not a complicated thing to understand.
I didn't see your post about winrates, and I actually completely agree with you there.
But Diesel is actually pivoting to make things work. He has a small but increasing semi-passive income source from youtube, which has room to grow in the future as well as his new dealer job which he works for full time for 7 weeks which is enough to cover 50-60% of his yearly expenses.
Diesel isn't standing around and doing nothing, he's taking steps to counteract his falling win rates.
I'm sure if he loses access to cheap rooms he will pivot again.

how many subscribers do you have on your youtube channel?

ELD had a cutoff of $20 to book a strip room or not. The previous $8 CET rooms are all now at least $11-$12 probably because the Mirage closed and all the Mirage guests are going across the street. The Rio haircut was a short stay for ELD since he got a few comped rooms and now they are high priced due to the Hyatt conversion.
