THE Official 2024 PGA Tour Season Thread

I don't have a fancy OP or anything. But now that we are in 2024, and are back to calendar schedules instead of the reach-around schedule, its time for a new thread.

Scottie still POY tho right?

It's nut to sit here and think Scottie could not be POY with a Major, the Players, and 4 additional other wins, but with X having such a solid year with 2 Majors...

I'd still give it to Scottie, but yeah, crazy.

agree that it has to be Scottie when you compare the two 2024 CVs

i believe the vote takes place after the FedEx Cup finals in Atlanta

X

gave it to ya

0-1 in last one Ryder Cups tho.

careful Thriston

don't let Augusta slip out of your fingers

Nice par by TL.

Bit of an anticlimactic back nine to finish sadly. X played super solid and Rose burned a lot of edges. Wish we had yesterday's weather today.

Probably, but I would take Zander's season over Scottie's in a heartbeat.

propellors to X, he easily cut through a wee breeze today and picked the course apart
never worse than bogey all tournament, same said for rose.
wish the weather was up again like yesterday

No. Winning the Masters is easily better than winning 2 majors.

not sure when troon included

Except it was Scottie's 2nd Masters.

I get it Masters invite for life is great. But all things equal I will take 2 lifetime exemptions over 1.

Agree to disagree I guess.

I'm not going to argue over importance of Open vs Masters vs US vs PGA (tbh might be in that order for me, but whatever).

Are we saying would you rather a Players + 4 wins (all of which were signature events) vs. a major... I mean, that's got to be about what a major is "worth" in equivalent wins.

Majors are the base measure of a great player's career. Look at Greg Norman v Nick Faldo for an example.

Who knows, people may look back on small field/no cut events and put an asterisk there.

With all the oldies and amateurs in the field, The Masters is almost a small field no cut event.

really?

OWGR Field Rating - *the higher the # the stronger the field*

2024 John Deere Classic: 222.86

2024 Rocket Mortgage Classic: 238.56

2024 Travelers Championship: 316.19

some ppl may do that but those ppl wouldn't have a good understanding of men's professional golf and the field strength of men's professional events

Maybe they should make the Players a small field no-cut event.

I mean if your point is "if you are Scheffler, would rather have his season or Xander's" than yeah, but that's not what you posited.

And I'll even say Xander might prefer his season considering his caliber, but any random non-Euro player is taking Scheffler's year 100%.

Yes, my wording was not clear.

Basically, Scottie would trade his season for Xander's, and Xander would NOT trade his season for Scottie's.

Additionally, if I am a young top player (eg Aberg), I would take Xander's season over Scottie's in a heartbeat.

I believe you disagree with that, which means we agree to disagree.

interesting finish at the 3M

Tom Kim must medal to avoid mandatory KOR military service

Rahm's lack of competitive golf rounds really costing him here in Paris

Tom Kim must medal to avoid mandatory KOR military service

Thought he was good but found out it was Si Woo and Im that got their exemption last year at the Asian games.
