Moving to Buenos Aires discussion

Moving to Buenos Aires discussion

El Diablo asked me to create a new BsAs disussion thread to replace "Ask TheMetetron about living in or visiting Buenos Aires, Argentina," as that thread had gotten a bit unwieldy. [Longest thread in EDF history?]

Old thread link: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showth...

Basically, same deal as the old thread: questions about living here, moving here, what it's like here. And those of us who are already here will continue to use the thread for the occasional 2p2 meetup.

An important note from the old thread: this week we're going to T-BONE for dinner at 9pm on Tuesday. It's in Soho on Armenia, the first block off Santa Fe. Hopefully turnout will be as good as it was last week.

Do you know what the current state of online poker is in Argentina?

I've found it very hard to find info about tax and what is/isn't allowed and I don't see many players from Argentina on stars

Ok, a few things here to dissect : the 2 year thing is... not really a thing!!! If you have money, the best way to get your residency (which you would need to get before envisioning getting your citizenship/Argentinian passport), it to hire an immigration lawyer (about 2-3k USD$ for the whole process, I can recommend an excellent one). If you do not want to pay the latter/want to do it on your online, you better have a steady source of income from your country that is not poker... I do not think that any Argentino poker player pay any taxes, tbh. GL and fire away/send me a DM if you have more questions (in French, English or Spanish ).

No choice, so i gonna write my 3rd posts now 😀
I lived 2 months in Mtl in 2022, Picnic festival and Stéréo club <3

SO, just in paying an immigration layer, it's enough to get an argentinian passeport + 1years and 1 day spend in Argentina.
It sounds weird to not pay taxes 😀

What are your intentions in going to Argentina??? Is getting a passport essential for you? I ask, because Argentina is unlike many/most countries in the sense that you can leave there for years without a visa, like I did (I just got my residency a couple of months ago after living there for 4 years and a half) and many others have...

But anyhow, to answer your question : an immigration lawyer will look into a way to get residency/citizenship for you. Which would most likely imply proving/creating a source of steady monthly income for you to provide to immigration (and getting a bank account with monthly deposits etc.).

So much stuff is so fracking weird for an outsider if you have not lived in Argentina before... Have you been there before?

Exceptional in summer, i lived in Rosemont. Just food is digusting, you need to cook yourself 😀
I'm french from Malta.

I read that we can get their passport just by residing 2 years, so my goal is to know conditions to be resident.

Ok, better to check it out first in order to see if you like it... The economy of the country has been crashing at unprecedented rates since the pandemic and it is in the midst of its worse every crisis!!!

You would have to check with your lawyer, but you might have to create a business or a trust fund, for example.

Of course there are amazing restaurants, i tried 2 of them but the quality of main courses are wow... like in USA.
Better to spend money and time in a bio shop, and there is many of them
To eat in a good place, you need to spend minimum 100$

Hopefully there is amazing culturel spots in summer, impossible to be bored

I am a foodie and absolutely love Lima, Peru and stop just about every time on my way down to Argentina ; it would rank Montreal in one of the top foodie cities (like top 20), but have had time to explore it. Other known foodie destinations like Rome, Paris, I was unimpressed with, but would need to explore again with a loved one as opposed to as a solo traveller...
