Hot Fun in the Summertime: Lounge LC Thread

Starting a day early because I might forget tomorrow. 95 degree temps expected inland in RI. It might hit 75 at my house

IDK if it's still true, but the Miller brewery tour used to be a nice pregame for the old County Stadium days in Milwaukee. IIRC, it's across the highway and down an exit, real close.

I did the Pabst brewery tour back in the day. Back in the 70's Pabst was the king of Wisconsin. Times have changed. I remember the main drag in Green Bay was Pabst signs on taverns as far as the eye could see. But then again every 10th sign would be a Schlitz 😀

A County Stadium memory. They hosted the all-star game in 1975. I didn't go to that 😀 But around the same time they had an old-timers all-star game which I did go to. We were sitting in the left field bleachers and the newly retired Willie Mays hit a home run that was right over our head by about 5 rows.

The Olympics opening ceremony was mostly bollocks. It appeared to be the organiser watched Eurovision, and said 'hold my pint'.

I liked the horse galloping along the Seine and Celine Dion belting one out on the Eiffel Tower, and the Olympians flag waving on the boats, and the torch lighting, but it was otherwise mostly terrible. Even Lady Gaga didn't work because sound engineering was atrocious.

"Bollocks" is a fine word.

You will appreciate this nuance John.

Where I come from
Bollocks = "terrible, bad, appalling"
Dogs Bollocks = "the absolute best, the pinnacle, the apex"

Probably not a reliable form of transportation.

It was fine in college, but times have changed.

But I guess this is preparation for the day senility creeps up on me and the kids take away the car.

I know the song but had no idea who did it. [emoji16]

I enjoyed the opening ceremony quite a lot. Especially Gojira.

Maybe your coverage was better. Honestly, I could barely hear them over the sound of rainfall.

Sounds like dogs are better than humans. Which they are.

couldn't hear a metal band? I didn't hear the rain much at all...I loved that it was raining...it looked great.

at least, their bollocks are better

Dogs are honest; the majority of humans are not.

Ah. A metal band and not a Japanese monster. Now I can follow along a little better.

Watching these "old" on the US Olympic team. LeBron, Curry, and Duran are still amazing basketball players.

I know, I know, this is a little late.

I prefer The Who's Monterey version, but this is the only documented instance of the band being able to keep up with Keith Moon on this song. Plus, the cinematography. After this, the Who's status as a Garage Band could never be forfeited.

Townsend in Full Destructo ftw

Those are good friends, John!

John

Nice!

I kinda like Snoop Dogg doing commentary during the Olympics.

And I'm noticing that more and more commercials are using '60s and '70s music (don't usually watched network tv but the Olympics). Certainly, advertisers aren't using this music to appeal to us of a certain age because we're not the target audience any longer.

True, but we're not part of that highly valued 18-54 age group the most advertisers target.

I think more is going on.

especially when held in time zones across the globe
everyone else is asleep or working when they're shown live
