I would answer TBL quiz but it's way too easy.

make one way harder and let's dance!
pretty sure I could recite the movie (not word for word tho a lot of them but every scene in order in great detail) not sure I should be bragging about this and I'm not one of those obsessive fans who would dress up and go to TBL fan gatherings but I have a hard time believing there are ppl who have seen it more times than I have.

also fwiw the dude is based on a real life friend of the coens.

'I'll sock your cuck for a thousand dollars'

Although if I were to be brutally honest... the greatest line in the entire movie isn't even a spoken exposition... it's the clip of the check on the counter being filled out for a dollar sixty.

that is of course an amazing part but

I REALLY love how the narrator shows up and asks the dude if he can stop cursing so much.

also absolutely kills me when the dude is telling maude about the sheriff of Malibu "he's a real reactionary".

but of course there are just so many absolutely amazing lines you could ask 100 die hard fans and get 100 different fav lines which of course is one reason it's just the GOAT movie.

one thing that's so fantastic is how the dude is constantly using lines/phrases he hears earlier in the movie just so hilarious.

This makes the movie, imo. "Will not stand" starts with Bush and travels around the entire flick. It's the exact opposite of the snappy dialog in nor like The Big Sleep, and yet it somehow works and is just as fun.

Bogart: "In a glass." (When asked how he takes his brandy.)
Walter: "And let's also not forget--let's not forget, Dude--that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city--that isn't legal either."

My bad... you are correct sir. My memory isn't what it used to be.

It is a perfect movie

I love PSH in it

Yep gotta pile on, every detail in Lebowski is so unique and perfect I can’t even compare it to anything else. I’ve seen it so many more times than any other film there’s no comparison. It will deservingly stand alone for eternity and I’m so grateful it exists

Impossible to pick any single moment or scene but I remember riotously crying my eyes out laughing the first time during the ringer scene, “the beauty of this plan is its simplicity”. from memory it’s smthg like

“Pass me the uzi”
“The WHAT?”
“The uzi dude, did you think I was gonna roll out of here naked? Chop chop”

My favorite from Walter:
I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos

You think I’m ****** around here- Mark it Zero!

the physical market got a new remaster of 8mm out of the Australian import...

I am not really a fan of my namesake Joel Schumacher's work, but this Film is a really good offering for that 1990's gritty mystery genre.

Cage delivers a really touching performance with his reactions to the underground pron movement and his home life. A highlight is Gandolfini's performance as a dirt bag pron publisher.

I also got this unrated special edition of Graphic Sexual Horror Documentary by Director's ‏Barbara Bell and Anna Lorentzon.

'Shocking documentary, GRAPHIC SEXUAL HORROR is a fascinating look at the rise and fall of the world's most notorious website and an exploration into the dark mind of its artistic creator, Brent Scott (aka PD). Containing original INSEX.COM behind-the-scenes footage and candid interviews with PD, the models, members and staff, assaulting the eyes from its opening frames.

This Blu-ray contains newly discovered shocking deleted scenes and interviews not seen in previous releases.'

Definitely one to display for house guests.

right next to my Copy of ZOO

I find Human Behavior simply fascinating.

Now I keep picturing that Reversal of Fortune scene: somebody tells MSchu18 he's a very strange man, and he says "You have no idea."

Might be my favorite movie line. Right up there with "I know."

I put my pants on 'One leg at a Time'...
there's nothing to see here.
:p

watched a few good movies lately

Anatomy of a Fall (Triet, 2023)

Loved this. Great script, great acting, especially Hüller, who is also good in the next two movies I watched. Feels like an instant modern classic tbh.

The Zone of Interest (Glazer, 2023)

Under the Skin is one of my favorite movies, so I was very excited for this. Some striking scenes, but I’m not too sure about this one. You get the idea p much immediately and then that’s that, there’s nothing more. Maybe I’m missing something, but was quite disappointed.

Sibyl (Triet, 2019)

Also v good. More lightweight and fun than AotF, although there were some heavy themes going on here as well. Not sure it hits that hard emotionally that maybe they wanted, but it was v stylish, again really well-acted and entertaining. Lots of pretty people.

Monos (Landes, 2019)

Not sure why I didn’t like this more, I might on a rewatch. Really beautifully shot movie set in the jungle in Colombia, with a great score by Mica Levi. Some guerilla kids going Lord of the Flies while tasked to watch an american hostage. maybe it spent too much time on the first act? Idk just something missing to make it great. That the motives/context were vague worked for me so it’s not that i think. Anyway, def worth watching.

Just announced, I just had to pre-order this retrospective... from Europe.

No matter how Leni Riefenstahl is seen because of Triumph of the Will, the diving sequence from Olympia is a thing of beauty. Note how the editing establishes the rhythm of the sequence.
