2024 Summer Olympics from Paris
Amazed we don't have a thread yet. I will do up a fancier OP tomorrow but this will do for now as a placeholder.
Women's softball opens the games in roughly 5hrs with soccer/football, archery and some other sports starting before the opening ceremony Friday night Japan time.
PREDICTIONS: Rona causes a stupid amount of issues, I still waste approx 100hrs of coverage anyway.
It took 11 years after Johnson for 9.79 to be reached officially and 11 people have ever run under that time (including Bolt). The best time run this year is 9.77.
Thx. I was wondering what the o/u would be for the final this Olympics and I went with 9.79.
Other than Bolt that has to be close to Olympic best.
kerley only losing out by 0.02 suggests he shouldnt have been 20/1
the poo river has officially claimed its first victim. belgium will not compete in the mixed triathlon relay (there's a triathlon relay?) due to someone getting e coli
Gee that bell ringing is contrived and stupid
Well done to Lyles. It looked like a bigger gap than that to the naked eye.
Surprised Jacobs ran so fast tbh.
bell is dumb obv, but i must admit i get a kick out of it. especially lyles giving it full beans
France beating Serbia in 3x3 basketball in front of that crowd was electric.
Lol running. So overrated.
I don't mind it when the races are close. But I just turned on men's 1500 about halfway thru and it was a foregone conclusion.
Good for Bobby Finke though.
This was actually a cool race. Finke went out insanely fast and basically just dared everyone to keep up. No one had enough left in the tank at the end to catch him. It was tactical in the same way that distance running events are tactical.

Interesting. Like I said, I only caught part of it.
I guess it was opposite of the repechages I watched yesterday when both races had a guy go out fast and finish dead last.
4x400 mixed, never knew that was an event until this Olympics. Very cool.
Femke Bol!
If I'm not mistaken everyone went MWMW, was that somehow an imposed standard or just by design/luck? I used to love it when the order wasn't the same per country and you'd see a male run next to a female
Also, just got to find out about this repêchage concept. the american bloke jogged the 110m hurdles on purple to qualify via repechâge instead of the regular way. strange stuff
