What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)
I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.
Brag: Shot 80 today on my home course (par 72) - I'm a 12 handicap so this is a very good number for me.
Beat: Had a [censored] quadruple bogey on the easiest hole on the course. Stupid sand features.
Variance: Lost $3 thanks to the team game.
being consistently comfortable attempting lower shots around the green shaved several strokes off my hc
try a short game practice session with every club between putter and hybrid to get a feel for what they can do
Yeah that is exactly what is it in order. I'm enjoying fiddling around with PW greenside. I find stuff like 8i or 7i just is too hot off the clubface to control.
raise the heel a bit and use the toe with a putting stroke
Yup, exactly that.
41-40-81. 1 birdie, 1 double bogey. 68.9/119/6,062 yards
Diamond Springs in Hamilton, MI. Completing the Tour DeVries for the season. The above are the numbers from the card, but the white tees were way back today, it was probably closer to 6,400 yards. Fun course. All the grass (except the greens) is one height. If you stay out of the junk it's very playable. Ball striking was so-so on the front, better on the back. Short game mostly okay. I wasn't entirely pleased with the putting but I did make a couple clutch putts from 6-8 feet.
Played a scramble this morning vs 3 other teams managed to win by 3.
Randomly had a message from a couple of mates asked for a game and thought screw it. One of them is a +2 and is very very good. It was me and my other friend vs the +2 and someone similar to me. He had to give us a stupid amount of shots but worked out to be pretty fair. I think we won about 2 holes and they only won one all the others were halved. Unfortunately the +2 made 7 birdies and didn't win a single hole 😃
Crazy how good he is.
47 (par 35). No birdies, 2 doubles, 1 quad.
Tuesday nights, man. If I didn't make everything inside six feet this could have been REAL ugly.
well not much golf for me now, Think I've torn my Achilles at football/soccer last night. Went up for a header as I've come down I thought someone come through the back of me, Turns out no one was near me. Never been in so much pain. Today is the day after I can barely walk now. I'm hoping I can get back on the course is 3/4 weeks as a load of us are going away on a trip which I've been looking forward to for about a year now.
another Tuesday night, another 49. Hit 4/7 fairways, but only 1 green. Approach game was off. Need more reps on the range.

Oh no! Hopefully just a strain or tweak!!
I'm not a doctor but unfortunately I don't think it is, Just the way it happened and what I felt at the time and how I feel now suggest its a bit more serious. I've been in bed for 2 days now just resting it think come Monday I'm going to see someone and see if I can get a boot on it if it stays the same. I have 0 rotation in the ankle and just about wiggle toes. Not in a huge amount of pain when just laying here but when I get up its pretty painful.
Honestly I've been playing football/soccer for 18 years straight and about 24 years total and fortunate enough to have smaller injuries and nothing to serious these include a broken nose and having a injury with the plantar fasciitis and I've always be fine to come back and play football again. Not going to lie this has put me off playing every again. I'm 34 and run around like I'm 18 still so maybe its time to hang up the boots.
1 thing I will say and usually I'm very good with this, Always listen to your body. I think I mentioned here I was having trouble with my Achilles leading up to this. Like I'd get up in the morning and could barely walk but once I got going I was fine. This went away in the build up to this.
UA1, if you have any hope of going on that trip in a few weeks i suggest a medical visit asap so treatment can start.
I'm pretty much at that point with basketball. I'm done playing mens league ball, just eventually going to get hurt and I'll be furious for it to impact my golf.
38-42-80. 1 birdie, no double bogeys. 67.4/120/5,729 yards
Hit all four par 3s but otherwise GIRs were a rare thing. Lousy irons today. Usually followed by a mediocre pitch. I made every putt I looked at on the front, but that was not the case on the back where I made seven straight bogeys before finishing par-birdie.

do you have a consistent miss with approach irons or is it a bit of helter-skelter
All over the place. If it were consistent, I could adjust.
Made a couple of changes to the setup, pulling a couple irons and putting back hybrids. Even though the hybrids are directionally challenged, I think I make better contact.
42-40-82 today. 1 birdie, no double bogeys. 70.3/133/6100 yards.
Despite the variety of errant approach irons (and hybrids and woods), I was very pleased by how well I avoided turning misses into doubles or worse. A lot of short bogey putts.
Even though it wasn't my best putting day, it was still decent. Making more putts than I have in a very long time. And even the lags have been a lot better - on the last hole today I rolled a 50 footer (after another crummy approach) to about six inches for a tap in par.
Played TPC Colorado from the 7400 yards tees last Friday, twice. Shot 50-53 =103 the first time around, and 48-48 =96 the second time. Course is ridiculously fun. One birdie, lots of doubles and triples (obviously), one quad bogie from 10 feet off the green, oops.
41 (par 36). No birdies, no double bogeys.
Pretty decent result considering I only hit one green in regulation. Lots of collars, so I got plenty of chipping practice.
keep trying to trim those bogeys
putter still working? assume no penalties?
Bipolar golf guy should be my new handle.
Friday: Mini driver arrives, proceeds to hit one pure shot after the other on the range.
Saturday: Same thing on the range. Get on the course hit it off of #3 bad, but just in the rough. On 6 I pull hook it 80 yards right over houses and likely across a road into the yard of someone across the street. Shot 87.
Sunday: Never touch the new club, shoot 86.
Monday: Another range session, hit it more like a 3 wood swing, good results.
Tuesday: Don't hit it a single time, 5 birdies and a 72.

do you make your bed with identical linen in the summer and the winter?
41-47-88. No birdies, 4 double bogeys. Also played a third nine, two man scramble, +1 lol.
What absolute crap. Ballstriking was awful, chipping and pitching awful, putting awful. Shotgun start on #13, had all four doubles in my first six holes. Was just regular bad after that.
