Soon, there will be photos...
it gets mistaken for that. the harvestman (daddy long legs) is a little different. it is technically not even a spider in that it doesn't spin web, and doesn't have venom. the biggest way to tell the two apart though is that the daddy long legs only has one body segment where the cellar spider has two.

In Aust Daddy Long Legs also covers these types of spiders. Not sure if that's the same elsewhere.
Also we don't have cellars...
I also agree the two spiders you show are different species, but "Daddy Long Legs" and "Cellar Spiders" are hardly "species names".
If you asked 100 Aussies what those spiders were 100 would say "Daddy Long Legs".
that argument gets thrown in there a lot too. it is just a name.

you are right, they probably would. doesn't mean it's correct though. if you want to go to actual species names, ok.
cellar spider: Pholcus phalangioides
daddy long legs: Pholcus phalangioides
sweet, they match. here is the difference. right under species is 'order'.
cellar spider order: spider
daddy long legs order: Opiliones
cellar spiders are spiders, daddy long legs aren't.
didn't mean to get in to a debate, was just commenting on a cute spider that was posted. hope it could be educational though. i love all things eight legged. heh
Is that a hybrid tea rose? A Rosa Grande Amore to be more precise?
Time to share for me as well! 😀 Here is a photo of my backyard:
Nice! I have something similar:
The spider pic reminds me of Victor and his cousin. RIP. :(
