General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread

OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.

Just an observation.

Jessica Walter and Liza Minelli together were my favorite parts of the show

Introduced my oldest to this early in the summer and we are ripping through it. It really is a pretty remarkable cast with some pretty impressive cameos and short term actor appearances. I'd forgotten how good Michael Cera is but still think Jessica Walter is the winner of the show for me

the entire cast was amazing obv and their chemistry was fantastic but ya jessica was the all-star followed by will arnet but I mean the 1st 3 seasons were absolute comedic perfection.

Solar Opposites- Animated sitcom about aliens stranded on Earth.

Very, very similar to Rick & Morty, which isn't a surprise as it was co-created by/stars Justin Roiland before he was kicked off last year because of the domestic abuse stuff.

So far it's really good.

Thanks for the Patriot rec, just started and really like it. Love the folk singing for the purpose of exposition.

I finished it yesterday, it's decent but kind of slow, should have been like 2 episodes.

+1

semi-interesting story, but no reason it needed to be 4 episodes. way too many docuseries re-use the same footage 2-5x over course of the series.

am i the only one confused why they were glorifying the rookie fbi agent? seemed like an open shut case that didn't need to take years. you had the known brother of cartel bosses acquiring a million dollar horse for a $5k transfer fee on the eve of winning the big race that paid $750k, then somehow paying $2m for horses at auction when his day job was bricklayer. they framed it as taking down los zetas but the assets they seized were like 0.5% of their annual revenue, leaders were still untouchable in mexico, and sounds like they eventually just succumbed to standard cartel turnover. most interesting part of the story to me that they did not get into was how the fbi took possession of 400 race horses.

Is Industry good?

I think it's better after season 1, and this 3rd season that just started is good.

If you start from the beginning and get bored and want to catch up, I would start with the season 2 finale and catch up from there.

Yeah Industry is great. When it came out I watched maybe half an episode and then dropped it. Recently someone mentioned it here and I went back and binged the whole thing. I think I like it better than Succession.

I'd also recommend The Outlaws with Stephen Merchant. It starts kind of slow but it's very funny and the acting is good. This series has a lot going for it.

Flowers - Fantastic, dark sitcom starring Olivia Colman and Julian Barratt.

I just started Industry as well, last night in fact, and I think it’s dope so far! 3 eps down, will probably knock another 2 or 3 out tonight. It’s been on the list since season 2 finished to outstanding reviews.

All caught up on Industry and overall, it's a solid B-show. There's certainly a bit of Succession in it, especially in how everyone is a piece of ****. But I don't have any sort of an investment in any of them to root for or against any of them. Aside from wanting see more of Yas...

Also, and this is probably a huge spoiler, true or not, but:

Yas totally killed her dad, didn't she? I picked up on that the first time it flashed back in episode 1 of this season. Then that young rich prick said as much, so it almost seems obvious now.

Carnivale or The Knick? Started Carnivale and it didn't grab me but I am willing to be patient. Or is both the correct answer?

The Knick

Haven't seen Carnivale, but the Knick is a good show.

+1 to The Knick

Carnivale was interesting, it's only 2 seasons so not a lot of investment. Took me a long time to get around to watching it, but I liked it. Early days HBO. I think if it was made in today's era of production value it could be excellent.

Made it through the first season + a couple second season episodes.

With all the fails in the storyline it almost has a Pink Panther feal with toned down comedy.

The Patriot is a great show, seen it twice. I still have the train song stuck in my head lol.

I like Bad Monkey just enough to keep watching it. Not loving the Bahamas end of it so far.
