Twin River Casino (Lincoln, RI)

Poker is coming by this August.

By Sam Wroblewski 630wpro.com

Twin River Casino is adding poker to their selection of table games.

According to a news release, 16 poker tables will be built inside the casino’s new poker room and eight traditional games, such as Blackjack, will round out the other additions. Twin River Chairman John Taylor said the gambling expansion will create 120 more jobs.

“An important part of our business philosophy has been to listen to what our customers want, and the addition of a poker room is one of most often heard requests,” said Taylor in a statement. “We’re thrilled to increase the number of table games we currently offer, which also means we will expand our workforce once again.”
The addition is meant to fill out the non-smoking floor of the casino, in order to replicate the gaming experience on Twin River’s first floor.

“We’re consistently looking for new opportunities to deliver an exciting gaming and entertainment product in a customer friendly environment.”

274 slot machines will be removed to accommodate the new tables.

The new games are slated to be operational by August.

More renovations? Is this good or bad for poker? I miss the action here and would def go back

i did hear Monday about the slot machines being removed. they recently changed one of the first floor areas to non-smoking as well. changes are being made.

i'd say its past the point of rumor at this point as its been talked about multiple layers between big picture stuff when ballys was opening the commerce stream, as well as at Twin itself by multiple layers of staff. its just a matter of when.

the action is very hit or miss these days i've found and i'm sure players like bert_stare are heading elsewhere some days but they'd all be back playing at Twin with a little hype that Maverick will bring. if they can actually get dealers, a good floor, start doing good promos and mtts we might actually have a central poker room in new england. until then we are gonna struggle a bit and games will be a bit hit or miss.

all that said, i could have wrote all this three months ago, six months ago etc etc. so i'm not getting excited or making any plans yet.

I used to love this room. Was there multiple time per week in the summer of 2017 --> 2018.

I am going to be in the area for a concert tonight - closes at 2? That was one of the awesome things about this room pre-Covid. played many all-nighters.

Having an 18+ environment was amazing. Plenty of kids who were learning and bluff heavy.

It "closes" at 2am, but what that actually means is that at 1:30 they call last hand. It sucks, the late night shift pre-covid was amazing

Says some of the right things for a press release. I'm curious as I haven't been in the casino since the start of summer if anyone has any details? Have they cleared out space for the new tables? are they planning on Bravo/Pokertracker? Any chance we get 8 or 9 handed cash tables? I'm very curious about all these things. Tournament players must be thrilled and I"m looking forward to the series Bally's runs. Anything is better than what we have and I do believe they have a good chance to become the poker center of New England if they run it right.

I know maverick gaming isn't the greatest but they'll find out quickly they wont have to do much to smash guarantees. The demand for real tournaments in the region is large. Their biggest challenge is going to be finding dealers. I wonder what the timeline looks like.

I'm excited

Does anybody know why there was $5/$10 PLO running last night instead of $5/$10 NLH?

I hadn't seen PLO running at any stake in the room in months, and the $5/10 NLH list was 14 people deep, but the floor started a fifth $1/$2 table instead of a $5/10 table, to everyone's frustration.

So Poker Atlas continues to say that the room has just 8 tables, but I keep hearing that they often have more than that running. For anyone who's been there recently, how many tables are they tending to open on a weekend?

There's 28 tables in the room, and pre-covid they'd all be full on weekends.

Post-covid, I've never seen more than 8 tables going on a week night.

I'm not there on weekends much, but I was there in March on a weekend and they had 16 tables going. No idea what recent weekends are like though.

PA is historically bad at keeping room info up to date on rooms that don’t use PA live list.

Went last Thu for first time in forever from 10p-1a. Biggest takeaway was the outlandish number of teens playing. Must be a Summer thing.

Seems like they all stick to $1-$2 though

LINCOLN – The remaining shares of Bally’s Twin River Lincoln have been purchased by majority shareholder Standard General, but officials say local casino-goers won’t notice any changes.

Last Thursday, Bally’s announced that hedge fund Standard General, which already owned more than a quarter of the casino’s shares, agreed to buy the corporation in a deal that values the company at about $4.6 billion, or at $18.25 per share.

According to a Bally’s release, Standard General plans to merge Bally’s with another casino chain already under their ownership, the Queen Casino & Entertainment.

Queen Casino has four locations in three states: Illinois, Louisiana and Iowa, and around 900 employees. At present, Bally’s has 15 casinos and roughly 10,600 employees.

“The combination will expand the company’s casino and resorts segment to 19 gaming, entertainment and hospitality facilities across 11 U.S. states and enhance the company’s development pipeline with several exciting projects,” the statement reads.

Patti Doyle, a spokesperson for Bally’s, said there will be no impact to Tiverton or Lincoln facilities.

Current stockholders can choose to keep their shares in Bally’s, or sell for $15 a share.

Soo Kim, Managing Partner of Standard General and Bally’s board chair, said, “the transaction provides Bally’s stockholders with a significant cash premium along with certainty of value for their investment or, if they elect to retain their shares, the opportunity to participate in the longer-term growth prospects of our expanded portfolio and significant development pipeline.”

The deal has not yet been finalized, though officials expect the transaction to be completed in early 2025, pending the required regulatory approvals.

I have got to stop coming here when I'm stoned. So what happened?

I have got to stop coming here when I'm stoned. So what happened?

I think we will have to wait and see Poker wise what this means. Maybe nothing has changed, maybe this is bad news. Seems like the Ballys brand may be done with dealing with the state of RI. Thats pure speculation on my part but I had heard rumors Maverick was running into big opposition from the state in regards to expanding poker. Seems like this might be the end of that deal on a corporate level as it seems to me based on this quick read as Bally's is gone and all the rooms Maverick was working with fell under that umbrella.

I know nothing though and I'm sure a more corporate minded type to sift through the bullshit.

I’ll be more clear. From what I understood part of Maverick working with Ballys relied on what multiple people said in interviews was the young CEO of Ballys wanting to invest and building the brand. Seems to me this corporate shakeup could change that partnership with Maverick?

Twin specific I did hear as I said above they are running into too much opposition from the state expanding the room which I hear from everyone is RI just doesn’t understand the market and is stuck in their old ways.

It also makes me nervous when I hear headed funded owned. They have one purpose and that’s to squeeze the customer for every dollar. Happening all over in many industries.

Hedge fund owned? Yeah, seems bad.

Still, when it comes to the squeeze, I kinda felt that's what Maverick would be doing anyway. I don't think it's that hard to run a decent poker room, so maybe the less people twiddling their thumbs in an office somewhere getting a cut, the better.

Why would the state object?

Because government never does anything right?

heard there was a 10/20 going this past weekend with a 30k winner??

Crickets on the maverick gaming poker expansion. I should have known it was too good to be true

It’s official. But when it happens who knows. As usual. Things happen at a snails pace with this place. Last I heard (back in June) was it was set to START around December if everything went well

Any way to view current games running?
