Another silly poker pool - $1200 up for grabs.
What country has the best poker (not holdem) players?
Another silly poker pool with $1200 available to be won.
Just name the country (countries) that have the best poker players.
The entry with the longest 100% correct answer wins.
You win $100 for yourself and $500 for your favourite charity.
Or, instead of listing countries, list players. Then you double your prizes. $200 for you $1000 for your charity.
Your list can be as long as you like, from 0 to infinity.
A blank list is acceptable. What you are saying is that everyone else will be wrong.
A blank list is considered to be a country list.
Your list need not be in order. If you name 5 countries and those are the top 5 (in any order) your entry is correct.
Ties have to share the prize.
Money is sent to your PokerStars account or as an Amazon Gift Certificate if you are not on PokerStars.
SCORING: How many different games can your country cash in?
Tiebreaker: lowest population (per Wikipedia)
Data is from Hendon Mob and only series that:
a) contain at least one non-flop tournament
b) started on August 21st or later.
c) have their results updated to Hendon Mob by November 5th.
qualify to be included.
POOL ENTRIES OPEN: right now!
POOL ENTRIES CLOSE: this pool closes as soon as a qualifying tournament updates on Hendon Mob.
GAMES are anything with a name. No/Pot/Fixed/Mixed Limit are different games.
High, Low, High/Low are different games.
4-card, 5-card and 6-card Omaha are considered to be the same game.
Some games have 2 names (example: HORSE & HEROS). 2 different names, 2 different games.
Tournaments that are team events or have restricted entry (except by sex or age) do not count.
You can enter twice (one with countries, one with players).
Mixed game tournaments are seperated by number of games except:
a) all the games have the same name (example: triple Stud is Stud)
b) Dealer's Choice is a seperate game and is always Hi/Lo and Mixed Limit.
Hendon Mob does not recognize the United Kingdom. Players are listed as from England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Hendon Mob still recognizes Hong Kong & Macau as seperate countries.
No doubt I've missed a few picky rules. I'll add later. Let me know if anything is unclear.

Oh, I almost forgot to state my charity: Doctors Without Borders will get the $500 if I win.
I'm using my old ODB25 blog to update info about this pool.
Check it out at: https://vegas2024.blogspot.com/
So far we have 4 entries from BARGE, none from 2+2, none from my homegame
Blank and Doctors without borders pls!
Thanks iraisetoomuch. Our first entry from 2+2!
And to celebrate I'm increasing the pool payouts.
$100 (for you) + $500 (for your favourite charity) for best country(s)
$100 (for you) + $500 (for your favourite charity) for best player(s)
$100 (for you) + $500 (for your favourite charity) for best female player(s)
We will require a photo or an entry in a "ladies only" tournament for the best female player. Too many guys named Carol or Karen out there. Not to mention Kim, Sandy etc.
And you can only enter a blank entry for country (not player or female player).
HM has updated the first results but they're not from APAT or Pennsylvania State Championships.
Three NLH tournaments from EPT Barcelona.
So, 68 players tied for 1st and entries are still open.
Entries will probably close on Friday as they start the 8-game today (2 day event) in Barcelona.
https://vegas2024.blogspot.com/
Entries are now closed as the EPT 8-game results are in.
A 7 way tie for first (countries).
No clear leader for player as all 8-game cashers have not cashed in NLH yet.
Only 1 entry from 2+2 - all other entries were from BARGE.
I'm still trying to pay the 2+2 winner of the Name Pool - he hasn't contacted me yet.
https://vegas2024.blogspot.com/
The pool ended today.
Nobody won - but lots of charities did.
iraisetoomuch was the only 2+2 entry - he said everyone would be wrong but Feed The Children (charity) picked the winner: Hong Kong.
There was a 3 way tie for top player so $167 goes to SOS Ukraine (who picked Mark Furniss) and $167 goes to Seva Canada (who picked Yutang Wang AKA Yu Tang Wang).
Nobody picked the women's champion: June Jenkins.
All together, US$834 is going to charity.
