Well if he does that now, I can take with the knight on f3. But his next move will probably add a defender to the e5 square, so there will be a bit of a battle for the centre, yes.

That's the GM seating position, for advanced players only.

Would love to see a top-level blitz game where the board is 90 degrees for both players.

Considering they can all play blindfolded, I don't know that it would make any difference.

Gorg, I've worked through the position, if you play e5, I'm playing dxe5 so you can make the next move then post if you like.

I think we're going to try ...b6 instead.

Be2 was a waste because bb5 was always the plan .
At a 10sec glance you seem just fine .

Wasn't the plan. I'm doing it now because the knight is no longer defended, and also because every other move seems to lose material pretty quickly!

Well even before b6 the structure of the pawns with c5 made Bb5 the right square when he plays nc6 .
So u get a hold on e5 and u keep back bishop on c8 bad with bad pawn structure, hoping an engame of knight vs c8 bad bishop .

It’s a common theme in some caro-kann variation line.
I think it’s the la of variation if my “poor”memory is right .
If u can exchange that bishop with black knight .

I don't know what on earth gave you that idea. I'm pretty decent at correspondence, but my peak CCF rating was only 1870. I had a USCF rating for a couple of years that never got above 1700.
