there was a libertarian utopia in new hampshire in the early 2000s that you can google and read about. i think it lasted like a few months and got conquered and overrun by bears. libertarians are not worldly people. the real basement dwellers of political discourse.

Libertarians have this hilarious view that they can hire people to protect them.

They don’t understand those same people will just take their money and leave them defenseless.

We built Luci-topia but mom and the wife won't let him go lol

I feel like plenty of people in the world do hire people to protect them and that that doesn't happen.

thats because of this wonderful thing called government

Libertarians don't really believe in the govt protecting you. They believe in you protecting yourself. The problem with that is there is always a bigger/ stronger force until govts get involved

liberals will always do fascism

liberals will always do fascism

Nah it’s corrupt power that does it , regardless of its political sources .

With the rise of social media, increasing diversity and antisemitism, and left and right wing populism with their associated horrible ideas; the liberal elites who actually run the western world are starting to wake up to the reality that unchecked democracy is going to lead to some real horrible outcomes. I am actually not sure how the Western world gets out of this. But whatever his motives for calling snap elections, Macron correctly realizing a far left PM is the last thing France needs right now gives some cause for optimism.

Victor the left doesn't have a majority, which fascism lol.

Being the party with the biggest share of the vote <> having a majority.

And it is why we should treat serial criminals in a completly different way from which we treat everyone else. Getting rid of them for good. A miniscule amount of people commit most violent crimes.

Every time a crime is committed by someone "known to law enforcement" , it was a preventable crime. An expected crime, and a preventable one.

Adams is wrong about "recidivism", it's more about seriality, but at least he gets that the problem isn't that a lot of people are criminal, rather that very few people exist that are fully incompatible with society.

How do you propose "Getting rid of them for good"?

How do you propose "Getting rid of them for good"?

Life no parole or the death penalty depending on your preferences (i strongly prefer the death penalty but not everyone agrees).

Think of it like the "three strikes and you are out" but out for good.

If available you could also consider lifetime in a penal colony with more freedom than in prison, if you think that's more humane.

I don't care too much as long as with 100% guarantee they never get back into society.

So, 34 strikes and you are out, even if some occurred while you were president, results in him getting the death penalty at least 8 times or never, ever, ever getting back
into society?

if it were 34 different instances of criminal fraud obviously yes? but it was only one as you well know

i'm in if we start with white collar crime. everyone in the sackler family should be lwop'd. the mckinssey consultancy execs that consulted on opiods- lwop. us senator rick scott and his whole HCA company- lwop. Eli Lilly board of execs- lwop johnson and johnson exec board- lwop.

If the sackler family got convincted i think even 1/100 of what a lot of us thought they did criminally would be enough to permanently remove them from society yes of course.

Same applies to many people in their companies and many physicians.

You are starting to understand i guess

Btw it's kind of absurd that there aren't Madoff employees in jail for life as well (afaik)

Both Italy and France are going to ban cellphones up to 14 years old in schools (seems reasonable to me tbh)

College + , you are an adult , they should know better what to do with their phone shrug.

can't do that in USofA#1. the school kids need to be able to give dying declarations to their parents sometimes.

I am pretty sure you can do that at the local or state level actually.

can't do that at the federal level because it's not a federal matter. same as the EU can't decide that, every country in the EU decides.

Think Los Angeles just passed this also. They'll cuck up the enforcement in some way I'm sure.
