2024 MLB Season Thread
Nobody wants these games to start more than Mannfred.
Shohei just spoke to the media for the first time. In a prepared statement, he said:
-He never bet on baseball, or any other sport,
-He didn't know that Ippei lied to him, and that Ippei took the money from Shohei's account to pay his gambling debts
-He'll continue to cooperate with the investigation, and play as the investigation plays out.
If all that's true, then this is probably the best possible outcome for his reputation going forward. He's a naive star athlete who trusted the wrong person. It happens.
In any event, these games are about start! Last year, just like we all predicted, "Someone Else" came on strong in the playoffs, as the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks for the World Series. Can that happen again?
T-Mobile is giving away a free MLB.tv subscription ($149 value) to T-Mobile subscribers starting TOMORROW (Tuesday 3/26 - April 1). Don't miss out.
So speaking of gambling, here are the current best odds for the World Series you can find, from Vegas insider!
Pirates bullpen is hot ass. Hung Skenes out to dry again by allowing 11 runs in the last three innings.
Skenes deserves so much better.
But he’s banging Livvy Dunne so I guess he doesn’t have it all bad.
I wonder if he’s gotten tired of doing that by now.

Any chance this was Skene's last start of the season? They yanked him at home after he pitched 5 innings effectively and not a massive pitch count. The Pirates ain't making the post-season so I honestly would understand shutting him down now.
and it's win-win for him. Play next season healthy and get to spend more quality time with Livvy Dunne. also apparently she blasted the Pirates bullpen for their s**tty performance today. She's rich on her own and standing up for her man...probably marry her already if ur Skenes.

Yeah if I were him, I'd lock her up and make anyone he cheats with sign a NDA.
LOLOL Yankees vs Nationals
Bottom of 8th inning, Yankees just caught TWO runners in run downs ON THE SAME PLAY!!!
cue benny hill music
not to single out any fans itt and lol crads also, but all-star reliever Edwin Diaz just gave up a grand slam to some lol team.
GJGE?
Some lol team? That has scored the most runs in baseball?
Judge has a 1.201 OPS now.
.333/.465/.736 with 51 HR and 122 RBI. There are 31 more games.
This is actually the greatest season ever by a right-handed batter in history, and it's not even close.
He has a 223 wRC+.
Only Babe Ruth and Barry Bonds have had full seasons with higher.
What's the GOAT right-hand hitting season previously? Pujols? A-Rod? Frank Thomas? DiMaggio?

Probably Hornsby. Dude hit .400 with power.
1998 McGwire is also up there, that's the best modern one before Judge. McGwire slashed .299/.470/.752 with 70 HR. Though Judge still has a better wRC+ because there was a lot more offense in 1998 than today. 1998 was right in the middle of the steroid era, 13 players hit 40+ HR.
I heard McGwire ate steroids for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
He also yelled at his mom for not getting him protein and loved power bars, HGH, and Muscle Milk.

How long was Olson's HR. The wind is really blowing out, but that was a shot.
I've seen between 450 and 466 reported on the first Olson HR. He didn't need it on that hit, but luckily the Phils benefited from the wind for a nice comeback. I hope Bohm's injury isn't serious.
I also hate that Charlie Morton pitched all of 17 innings with the Phils in 2016 and has rolled out a bunch of good seasons since then after the age of 33.
I watched last 2/3 of the Phillies game tonight. Really nice win. I also think Bryce Harper was safe on his bunt attempt... I would've used the challenge on it.

The initial stadium replays looked like he was safe, but then they put up another angle and I think he was barely out. Surprised it wasn't challenged, but I doubt they would have won it.
Marsh had a nice game, but not sure about the attempt to advance to 3rd in the 8th... although it was a lot closer than it should have been.
yeah if anything they just go with initial call if its bang-bang play, which it basically was.
Phillies futures mannnnn lets goooooooo
