Ongoing VP TR, PART 2!
Hi all, apparently my previous thread may have gotten so long that it's causing issues for the website. So, here is a new thread to keep this going, and it also gives me an opportunity to provide a quick recap of how I've gotten to that point.
Background-
- former poker player; got in pre-2003 boom, printed money online until about 2007 when games got harder/I started making decent money
- took poker roll and transitioned to straight casino degen. Went thru a blackjack and craps phase
- Dad played progressively bigger and more at various Vegas casinos starting around 2005, settled on Wynn and gave them all of his action. Massive comps and Chairman's club status for Dad resulted
- I started playing VP around 2013, 2014? knowing it was one of the best casino games on offer; slagged off of parent's comp for years
- as I played more and bigger, Dad's host became my host
- Circa 2019-2021, went on the most massive sun run, +500k over that time period; basically played bigger, kept winning, played bigger, kept winning, etc
- 2022-now- basically have run cold and am trying to sustain my VP for the long term
Game of choice-
- Triple double bonus, preferring multiline and ultimate X
- will play craps, more often with buddies
- despise blackjack
Typical TR features stays at the Wynn, good food, gambling, +/- other stuff (shows, family coming with, etc)
That's probably a decent synopsis!
Leon, during my October trip I’ll go over to status match at Fountainblue. They give $300 food credit if I remember correctly. What’s the best place to spend it on in your opinion?

I think I read the status match ran out before then (also had been planning on going over when I'm in town late October but I'm a lowly Pearl MGM member so I only would've gotten $100).
Also Leon, hope this trip heats up, I didn't really understand the Super Times pay machine when I played it wandering through NYNY, but it seems like if the dealt deuces had a multiplier you could even be up for the trip?

No, they stated somewhere that it’s ongoing throughout the entire year. Will check however when I’m there in October, if nothing else I’ll go to Tacos el Gordo on the way back hahaha.
Website says through 9/2 (we're going for the first time this year in November, so :( )
I am currently watching my way through the "Inside the Mind of a Pro" poker video series. I would give anything to see a video of you playing VP at your stakes with you narrating it with what your thoughts are in game in the format they use.
I suspect it'd be boring as hell. Once one learns the proper holds in VP there's basically no active thought. It's like being dealt 2-7off or calling an all in preflop with aces- it's automatic and you don't even waste time thinking. EVERY ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE, there's a close play or something but that's it.
It would basically be a litany of "so boring such trash etc etc etc ooh here we go damn so boring so boring ooh here we damn how do I make regular quads from one card but I get dealt trip aces 10x and can't find the 4th".

I'd go to Komodo. Their Peking duck is basically the best I've ever had.

It would depend on how big the multiplier would be but yes. Basically in DSTP you can get a random multiplier on the deal AND/OR the draw. Both times as high as 10x. So max would be 20x (rare obv). If it had dealt me a multiplier with the deuces we'd have already seen it. Once I hit draw, there was a 1/15 chance of another multiplier.
A better example is that 13x trip deuces hand I had on day 1. It dealt me I believe 5x on the deal and the 3 deuces. When I held the deuces and hit draw, it gave me another 8x. Man, that one was exciting- a 4th deuce would pay 13 x 400 = 5200. 4th deuce with a kicker would have been 26k!

That's exactly how it got for me back in the old days of chasing single-line progressive royals and banging out 1000-1200 hands/hour. I would almost get in a total trance. At times I would become strangely disoriented and feel as if I were tilted about 30* to the side, but that didn't interfere with my pressing those keys.
When multi-line games appeared, most of them slowed the allowed speed so that you couldn't instantaneously deal the next hand. That gave me time to think of all that immaterial nonsense between hands. You are almost forced to think of something to relieve the boredom, but anything not related to the game in front of me distracted me and slowed my rate of play even further. Hence, all the what-if's and probability calculations enter the head.

It's not boring for many who are less experienced than you. I'd like to see an instructional YouTube video series -- hell, you've already made one -- on VP, comps, hotels, etc. What you're already doing.
Thanks for the great reporting.
As a non comped person I have a question or two please..
1. about the photo of 15 or whatever snacks that you have in the room - is that the equivalent of the Wynn sandwich tray, or is that more of a minibar situation? Is there even a minibar situation for you, as a part of your food comp?
2. How did you pick (or get assigned) your new host? Curious if you meet in person in 2nd half of TR...
3. Where's the flask to bring home?
Good luck in the past to your remaining weekend.
STP and DSTP are the woooooorst. Most of the time you feel like you're paying extra for nothing. I'm very interested to see if that game turns around for you or if you swear off it like i have. I still play a few hands here and there, but never for a real session.

That's just a pic of the mini-bar and coffee maker. My assumption was the coffee is part of the room, minibar would draw from food comp like at the Wynn. I generally try not to touch the mini-bar at either place just in case (since the retail price is ridiculous).
I reached out to FB when I first started planning this trip and she's the one who got back to me. I do end up meeting her, she should feature in the next installment.
:Lastly, I didn't bother to bring a flask bc I only had 1200$ food comp for the trip and knew between me/wife/D we were going to exceed that. As far as overall comps go I was shocked at how rapidly the host matched the Wynn/gave me what I asked for, basically on my word that I would give the FB a certain amount of action. I might have mentioned it before but the Hootie tix were a late addon and I actually said I was prepared to pay and/or maybe they get comped on the back end bc I felt like I had already asked for too much upfront, but she got them right away. 450$ per person so they weren't cheap seats.

You have hit one of the nails on the head. The little bit of (DDB) DSTP I've played in the past, I always felt I coasted relative to UX. It actually seemed a little boring to me, most of the time nothing, generally no huge hands but "only" betting 2 credits more per hand, etc. I had visions of coasting on the game, and maybe I get lucky and get hit a dream hand. So far in this trip it had been an absolute black hole of money, as bad or worse than my worst UX sessions. At this point I will confess I hated the game, and was legit worried I wouldn't have a game at FB that I really wanted to play. You'll have to see if the overall outcome was good...

If you don't mind, what amount of action did you promise them? A specific amount coin in per day? What about your craps play. Curious how they evaluate what you're worth to them in comps.
Another question: do you tell your Wynn host that you're leaving, and why?
On one hand, I could see not burning bridges and leaving that open ("just haven't been in town...").
OTOH, could see a sort of, "here's the reasons I moved on. If you're willing to stop sucking, I might consider coming back."
Can't believe I live in a world where tickets to Hootie are $450

I didn't promise them anything, but I told them my avg coin in (500k-1 mil per trip) and at a theo of 2% they can do the math. I also told her I play craps but obv the majority of the theo is from VP so that should be enough.

OTOH, could see a sort of, "here's the reasons I moved on. If you're willing to stop sucking, I might consider coming back."
I had a long convo with the Wynn host in June. I didn't specify I was going to leave, just made it something that was on my mind. Host was unimpressed, actually encouraged me to check out FB. Basically the new world I live in is I rate a Parlor suite, 2k free credit and ~1k food/bev coming in "until things change". So he's promising me basically what I was always promised, until he can't promise me anymore. What's changed is basically no more upfront everything else including cabanas and future offers are contingent on play. I have to assume I'll never be able to get a room for friends, etc.
In the meantime, the auto offers from the Wynn HAVE picked up again- I had fallen off the mailing list for over a year which is really annoying. The offers I've been getting have been good, so I'm not burning either the Wynn or FB at this point. I'm just living under the assumption from here on out that my offers will be based on past trips. There's no reason for me to burn either place. As I've been alluding to, there's something "almost as good" about FB that makes me not want to leave the Wynn entirely. If my future comps are based on the most recent past trip alone, there's theoretically no need to concentrate my play at any one place. I have the freedom to go where I want.
I just asked for seats. Assumed they'd be decent but made no special requests. Obv if they weren't comped no way I pay for those.
Rest of Day 2
We head over to a craps table, and it's just not fun. It's a slow bleed, but it's frickin' crowded and slow. Wife is having fun, she's betting 6 and 8 and collecting before she presses, so she's hanging around. D and I are both stuck about a G. After a while I get bored and head over to VP, they elect to remain at the table.
Only hit of the session.
I play a ton of hands and end up break even. Head back to the dice table, wife and D are still there! D is still stuck, and given he and I play pretty similar I imagine I would have just lost more money. Wife somehow is up a few hundred, betting only 6 and 8 for 30$ a piece. It sounds like almost all rolls have been optimal for her strategy- 1 or 2 6/8 per roll, no more. She's not leaving much on the table every time it seven outs.
It's pretty late, and we decide to head upstairs.
Day 2 result- -10k
Overall- -22k
Dealt quads- 1, premium
Day 3
I sleep in until about 7. I definitely prefer the FB pillows to the Wynn. Head downstairs, grab a coffee and get to work.
Starting off well...
That machine turns, and I move to UX in frustration. If the multiline machine had TDB it'd be more interesting. DSTP is killing me. Can't play 10 line UX, I could go bust in a day. Guess I have to play 5 line UX.
Pick up dealt quads almost immediately!
Meh.
I start to give some back, and foolishly move to DSTP, again.
Despite this hit, I give back all my winnings in about 30 min. I'm really starting to hate this game. I meet D and wife at breakfast dead even for the day.
La Fontaine
This place appears to be their premier breakfast place. My host is supposed to swing by so we can meet her as well.
Frisee salad (my absolute favorite salad) was only 7/10, dressing too sweet. The flatbread was solid, 9/10.
We meet my host, she's very nice and responsive. Given the host/client relationship is necessarily transactional, it's never going to be 100% honest, but she seems much more upfront than my host at the Wynn. I give her a small gift/thank you card and she's very helpful sorting out some mis-info we've gotten about the spa. She tells us to charge everything to my player's card and that's the only surefire way she can apply comp. Sounds like a plan. Today we're planning to check out the pool, but we've got spa on the agenda for tomorrow. First, we've got to get more gaming in.
Great draw here, obv. 4 royals! I see the glimmer of a comeback.
Thought this was pretty crazy, 4AWAK AND a straight flush from a single ace! Only way it would have been crazier is if I made a royal instead of a straight flush.
Wife is getting work done, so D and I have to wait until we hit the pool. We decide to hit craps again and walk smack into another ice cold session. I swear, the dice here at FB is so unfun. I'm obv being results-oriented, but the combo of the huge table, black dice, crap chips, and awful rolls, it's just torturous. I dump 2k really fast and head back to VP.
And... immediately pick up dealt quads #3!
Thank god they're premium!
Need a good draw...
Result-
Great draw, no doubt about it. Of course, part of me regrets this isn't TDB.
At some point, the machine turns and I give some back really quickly. Gotta lock this win in. D and I head upstairs to meet my wife and head to the pool. +8k that session and I can feel the comeback coming!
The FB pool area is huge, it's really a few separate pools all joined by walkways/bars/etc. It is SCORCHING OUT, and almost all the umbrellas are taken. Luckily, we find a couple who is just leaving as we pull up to some empty spots, so they give us their umbrella and now we've got three shaded seats.
Some observations-
- less privacy/more crowded than the Wynn. I'm not a fan of this, but from a feel standpoint both wife and I think our kids will enjoy it more than the Wynn
- the casino has a "real" sized craps table and 15$ min. The three of us played, had some fun but it wasn't a good session. The crew at the pool is the B team for sure, they had little clue what they were doing.
- the deck is non-smoking. As a Vegas smoker, in the end analysis this is a good thing. Not having the option left me with no temptation. If I'm hanging with the kids on a future trip I'll certainly be less inclined to try and sneak away for a quick cigarette
- Similarly, the pool is on the 3rd floor and it's quite a hike to get to the true casino. In turn, this makes me less tempted to sneak away for a "quick" VP session. That's gotta be good for the bankroll.
We spend a nice couple of hours at the pool, then head up to change for an early dinner. It takes me far less time than wife to get ready, so what do I do but go downstairs, fire VP again and donk off 5k in lightning fashion. As awesome as the multiline machine was earlier, it's ice cold now. That was dumb.
Don's Prime
This is one of two steakhouses at FB.
One of the advantages of butler service. Our butler went to the box office to pick up our tickets so we don't have to stand in line, and then hand-delivered them at the restaurant.
It's pretty hard to mess up steak and carbs. All the sides and steak were 7-8/10, nothing outstanding and nothing bad. The creamed corn was the exception, that was 9/10 for sure.
After dinner, D heads over to the craps table while wife and I catch the show. He was pretty adamant that he didn't want to see Hootie. I was never a fan, but I appreciate all things music and I'm sure I'll hear something I enjoy/see some aspect of musicality which will make me happy I went.
The "good seats" are at the edges and back. Although we're far from the stage, it didn't impact the view, and these seats come with unlimited comped drinks!
The show was fun. I realized that I actually knew about 5-6 Hootie songs just from hearing them so much. Actually, I realized I probably know them all from a musical standpoint, bc let's get real, their chord structure is ridiculously simple and repetitive. Know one Hootie song, you probably know half of them. That said, the dudes can play. They've been playing together almost 40 yrs and Darius Rucker's voice is obv fantastic. The best part of the show for me was when they jammed/played bluegrass- as I said, the guys are actually musicians, who can blame them that their main avenue of success was writing made for top 40 songs? I'd do the same if given the opportunity.
Wife is super happy, and I'm quite pleased I went. I'd never pay that much money for the tix but comped it was obv worth it. After the show, we meet up with D and tell him about it, he's upset he missed it. Now, back to the craps table...

Next part coming soon...
it's been a long and difficult journey in life for me to finally be able to enjoy eating out in USA without being a nit and thinking how much value i'm losing by eating out
from being raised where every meal was cooked at home to then eating out extensively in 3rd world countries where a regular meal costs $4 at a decent place, a fancy place will be about $10 and a premium meal will set you back at most $30
so it's obviously difficult for me eating out in USA#1 where suddenly eating out at even a basic run of the mill location like a diner is going to cost more than most fine dining abroad
but $32 for a continental breakfast... i'm sorry but wtf?
it doesn't even make logical sense, literally a pastry and a coffee is the single most expensive item on the breakfast menu
just bonkers
"Ionlywanna Fontainebleau...."
(It looks like it should be pronounced "blow" like "tableau", but I've only heard "bleu" so I stand by my dad joke)
Eagerly awaiting the comeback!
i enjoyed hootie for what it is, would definitely see them in concert - also think basically anything live is amazing
I'm glad you enjoy FB. I'm a fan too. It has some drawbacks, obviously. But most of them are kind of trivial imo. Like, it's a bit of a hike from the garage and some stuff seems weirdly spaced.
Depends who you ask but some say they have a lot of very good restaurants and no elite ones.
I like Don's more than you. I think the potatoes Gratin are 10/10, but that's one of those things like a Ceasar that people just have differing preferences on. However, I have had some disappointment there. Great salmon but mediocre Halibut.
I can't bring myself to go to Pappi steak. It just seems so silly and pretentious.
In my experience, the comps they offer are easily the best in town. The rooms are nice and also there's a bit of creativity and fun, like all the fancy coffee table books.
Never thought I'd mention reading coffee table books as part of a stay on the strip, buy here we are.
Do the graphics when leon shows a hand pay look like they're from the early 2000s in real life?

I didn't even notice that. I think for a high end Vegas property the FB prices are actually pretty reasonable, but yes LOL to a continental costing more than basically all of the hot items.

Within the context of the post, as dad-jokes go yours is at least 8/10.

I'm planning on hitting Pappi steak next time, if for no other reason than to just check it out. I agree on the comps, I was initially a little worried I'd run out of food comp but given FB's price point is lower than the Wynn it works out fine.
Rest of Day 3
The three of us head to craps and it sucks. As in, tilting, I'm slamming fistfuls of chips in frustration sucks. Every annoying thing that can happen at a craps table happens- slow dice setters who then immediately seven out, noobs who mess with the roll who immediately seven out, people who throw 3/4 rolls off the table, and when they do keep them on the table... immediate seven out. Bc the chips are so cheap and slippery, at some point when I slam my hand (holding chips) on the rail, what should have been basically a love tap results in chips flying all over the place. I immediately apologize, and get all my chips back (some of which flew into another guy's rack, some on the floor), but I'm being immature and I know it. I just can't handle it- the days of losing, the awful chips, the awful table... I should have quit the table way before for sure. At some point it got so bad that D starts betting the don't. I, of course, have no problem with this, but it does mean we can't be happy together. That's never good. It doesn't matter, bc the table finds a way to screw all of us. Lots of come out 7s and 11s and since I'm not playing the line it doesn't help me. D won't take the action on a 6 or 8, so most come out rolls are of course 6 or 8. He then makes a DC bet when invariably would get him on a 4 or 10 (where I'm not), 4 or 10 right back so he loses, and then of course a 7 to pick off his next DC bet AND kill all my bets. Everyone loses. If he even laid odds on the 6 or 8 he'd have done better. And of course I can't find a 6 or 8 to save my life.
We all lose, I believe I lost at least 2k (betting small too). I head to VP in a rage, wife heads to bed. AND... VP sucks too. I give back 7k, turning a day where I finally hit a 5 digit hit into just a medium loser. I'm trying so hard to like this casino, and the gambling is just making it impossible...
Day 3 result- -6k
Overall- -28k
Day 4
I was expecting/hoping to sleep well like I did last night. Went to bed late enough, popped melatonin, etc... Nope. Slept like garbage, wake up at 5am. I head downstairs for coffee and the multiline machine. We are DONE with DSTP. I actually hate the game at this point. To go from being super excited to hating the game in just a few days... it's actually more of a sign that my bankroll is short and I'm less enamored with gambling than I've been in years. Intellectually I know this is a good thing and that the good times were never going to continue forever... I just wish I didn't have a large degen part of my soul still intact.
Anyways, so I get pummeled by the multiline machine playing small and slowly. Play for a long time but still lose 5k. Meet up with D and wife at Vida where I ate solo earlier in the trip.
I grab the steak and eggs. 7/10.
Today is spa day. Wife has a treatment booked for 10am, and then D and I will join her at the co-ed spa. We all head up to get her checked in and establish the details of the day pass D and I are using. So we were already told (incorrectly) that we had to make a specific entry time appointment for the day pass. Now we're told that's not true, we can check in whenever and come and go as we please. Later, I check and am told that's also not correct, one use only. So what the hell is a "day pass" anyways? To be fair, the attendant I saw upon leaving said he'd make a note and an exception for me and that I was allowed back in bc "I was given incorrect info", but still. All of this is completely different than what we heard over the phone also! Host had it right, the info coming out of the spa is all kinds of F'd up and it doesn't seem like you can get a straight answer, or even the same answer from two employees standing right next to each other!
Argh. OK, now all that said, I head back down for an hour or so of gaming. D wants to call his wife and he'll meet me at the spa, wife goes in for her treatment.
I get up about 2k early. And... give it back. It's close to 11am, I should head up now... f it keep playing. This whole trip I am severely "under aced"- I've been dealt trip aces 11 or so times and I should have been dealt them over 20 simply by random chance. I got the last pic so early into this session, I thought "maybe this is the session where I run BETTER than expectation for once". Nope. So I bleed off my win AND another 2k. JESUS FFFFFFFFF I REALLY HATE THIS CASINO in terms of gaming!
Get to the spa, get the obligatory tour. I wish cell phones were allowed bc I'll admit, it's very visually impressive. I would have taken a ton of pics if allowed. The men's only side is nice and includes a quiet room that is basically like sleeping outside under the stars where you can literally lie down and take a nap. The co-ed spa is the main part, different saunas, salt rooms, cold plunges, they even have a snow room where it's 14 degrees C and it snows on you. Wife and D comment that I'm late, I have to explain to them that it takes time to donk money like I do.
We basically spend the entire time in the co-ed section, and take a "meditation session" in the hottest room (up to 140 F) led by a woman who is at least a 9/10 on the attractiveness scale. She's a former dancer and half the session is her waving towels near you to drive the heat up even more (think a convection oven). It's ridiculously hot in there to begin with, and she's active the whole time so she's basically wearing nothing and pouring sweat. HOT, in so many ways. Had I been able to take a photo my wife would have been 100% ok with it. Hot is hot.
This specimen of femininity takes us through a hot session, then a cold plunge, then another hot session. The entire thing lasts about 45 min. It was fairly amusing to see the 20 something dudes chatting her up- I appreciate the attempt, but gimme a break dudes. She's at work, she probably gets chatted up dozens of times a day AND she's way outta your league.
After a few hrs, I decide to call it quits. Most time I've ever spent in a spa. FB definitely is the nuts when it comes to the spa, even with all the BS info we received. You pay for it, though- a day pass is 180$ and as we learned, isn't even a day pass! I'll definitely be back, but only if comped 😉
After the spa, D and I give craps another try and SHOCKING it sucks again. 2k gone. Back to VP, where I've hit the "meh F it" stage. I play a little bigger, mostly bc there's zero chance of a comeback otherwise.
We play for hrs and slowly but surely lose. I think I end up down 5k for the session, 12k for the day. On the one hand, we've seen the upside of DDB vs TDB- the variance is definitely less and there's no way I could have coasted as long as I did, with the garbage I was dealt, had this been TDB. On the other hand, holding 2s full vs going for quads gets old fast. Plus, I'm not here to coast. Or am I? D is actually really happy with the session- we got some points on his card and from his POV we got to play a ton. I think "we cycled in 1.5k hands and didn't see three aces once". He thinks, "we got to cycle 1.5k hands". As he puts it, we're SUPPOSED to lose, and so the increased ability to cycle/avoid variance with DDB is a good thing.
I'm just thinking about those dealt 3s and wishing it were TDB. Intellectually I know he's right- we're supposed to lose. But I want to WIN. If I'm going to play, I'm always going to go big or go home. Who wants to grind JOB for a whole weekend? Not me.
So, with these thoughts in mind we head to dinner at Komodo. I'm really upset at the gambling options here and legit do not know what to play or do. As is, I just can't see moving my action over here completely. It's too unfun.
Komodo
This is a repeat for me and D, solely for the Peking duck!
D and I were much more educated consumers this time. We avoided all dishes which were just ok/too sweet from before (eg, the fried chicken). Shu mai and dumplings were 8/10, crispy eggplant 8/10, tom Kha halibut 10/10 on sauce, just 8/10 overall bc the halibut was overcooked. I could have just eaten that sauce over bowls of rice and been happy though... duck 10/10 like last time. Dessert was a banana cheesecake surrounded by the crust, 8/10 with the concept/taste factored in.
We crushed that meal. I don't think we left one scrap of anything, largely due to wife who ate more than I've seen her eat in months. She said she "just was hungry" and I said "yeah, I could tell". I think she ate more than I did, honestly.
After dinner, wife decides to head upstairs. D and I head to VP, and now I just want to survive. No more 50c credits, I need to get out of this place with some semblance of bankroll intact.
So of course now that we're playing smaller we actually have a decent session. I think we won a whole 1k. It's better than a loss.
Day 4 result- -11k
Overall- -39k
Dealt quads- 4, 2 premium
5 digit hits- 1
Day 5
The only upside of being unmotivated to play is I sleep a bit better. We've got breakfast poolside at La Cote which gives me an hr or so.
I decide to check out the VIP lounge. Nothing special, but better than nothing.
Head to VP and, you guessed it, gave back more. "Only" 3k. Didn't get dealt trip aces once. I'm now at 15 or so when expectation has me at about 30 for the trip!
La Cote
Not much to say here, this would be a pleasant place for breakfast IF the menu had more than 3 items and if it wasn't mediocre. Food was 4/10 at best and easily the worst food at FB. Would not come here again. How hard is it not to F up breakfast? Disappointing end to the trip.
We plan out the rest of our day. We're not leaving until 4pm so we've got hrs. I figure I've got about 7-8k max left I can play, probably less bc let's get real, if I go home totally bust I'm going to be super upset. Even coming home with a few k feels so much better than busto. So wife decides to pack while D and I give VP one more try. We decide we'll spend the afternoon at the pool no matter what.
D and I head to VP, but then think better of it and decide to play craps again. We're playing real small- he's doing 110 inside and I'm doing 220 inside. I had been betting 320 across and pressing the first hit- now I just want to pick up chips. Any chips. I decide to take the first two hits and get the roll mostly paid for before I do any pressing.
We play through a bad session and with my new strategy I "only" lose 500$. Under the circumstances this feels like a win and I'm reminded there's an upside to not jamming my bets. Head to VP- slow bleed again, we give up 3k and now I'm down about 6k for the day, 45k for the trip. F it. I'm DONE with VP this trip.
We head to the pool and quickly find seats. Split a double cheeseburger and salad for our lunch, pretty decent price for poolside food. I'm over my comp but 100% sure host will pick it up (she did). God... the gambling this trip. D is planning on STAYING in Vegas for 2 more days!?! There's a 10x point multiplier at Caesar's where he has a host, and he wants to keep his status. OK man... can't believe you want more abuse. He's got 2k left to his name. I couldn't do it. We check out the poolside craps and it's 15$ min again. Why not.
The rolls we were waiting for all trip finally happen. D puts together a good roll, I put togther a good one, then D pulls off a great roll. FINALLY get yellow on the table- I had a 1200$ 6 and a 1000$ 9 at my height (never got either, unfortunately). Of course, this is starting smaller than I usually do too. AND, bc of the B team dealing, I literally got paid on a 300$ 6 on the come out roll! Dealer hands me 350$... no one else seems to think anything is wrong. I scoop up the chips without saying a word. Next roll (point is 6 now, remember), D hits an 8 and the dealer takes the puck which says "off", moves to the 8... looks confused, looks at the other side, sees the point is 6, and puts the puck "on" 6. Doesn't ask for my money back. LOL.
It's too little, too late, but I win over 2k that session to at least go out on a high note. D has enough now to survive the next couple of days at Caesar's...
FB's Rolls, waiting to be deployed.
We head to the airport and say our goodbyes to D. Such a fun trip in some ways, so disappointing in others.
Total loss- -42k
Postscript-
I called the butler on the last day and confirmed the limo to the airport would be leaving from the VIP entrance vs the main. I didn't care, just wanted to know where to go. They said either was fine, but they'd be sure to have the car at VIP. Lo and behold, when we got there there was no car- it was at the main entrance!
In and of itself, it's not a big deal, but that last incident just exemplifies the difference to me between FB and Wynn. FB is "almost" there. They're almost as good. Almost as classy. Etc. Nothing is make or break, it's just not the same.
Based on the shte gambling conditions alone, I can't leave the Wynn. I know that for a fact now. I actually found myself missing the Wynn at points on this trip. OTOH, FB is a solid option to have and I got great service from my host. I was able to provide feedback to the slot manager and I'm told they are taking me seriously (adding TDB to the multiline machine, adding more machines). We'll see. I also immediately got an invite to a buy in slot tourney which I told my host I like so they're very responsive. Plan right now is to use FB for the next family trip/if I feel like changing it up from the Wynn. Since everything in Vegas these days seems to be a "what did you do for me last trip", there's no reason to restrict myself to any one place anyways.
D of course walked into a monster roll at Cromwell... won 11k that roll. As he put it, if we were playing our usual way we would have won 50k. Ugh. So happy for him and so jealous at the same time. So he basically broke even for the trip. Maybe I'm the cooler...
Bankroll-wise I've got enough to survive to the end of the year but not much more beyond that. I honestly don't know where I go from here if I busto my liquid capital. The vast majority of what I paid for taxes I'm not getting back, and I don't want to touch the money in the market... ugh. I'm scared money for sure. My "strategy" right now is- thoughts and prayers, let's see what happens. Duh.
Thanks for reading!
i also thought a myspace twinkle animation was going to flash across the screen
most likely a chandelier located directly behind him
I didn't mean that. I meant the fonts/colors/layout of the graphics look dated.
But yes, the chandelier adds a whole other dimension of cheesieness.
Seems like FB is kind of a "**** not together" place. I can see why you find that frustrating, leon. Appreciate the effort, sad at the execution.
