What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

Brag: Shot 80 today on my home course (par 72) - I'm a 12 handicap so this is a very good number for me.

Beat: Had a [censored] quadruple bogey on the easiest hole on the course. Stupid sand features.

Variance: Lost $3 thanks to the team game.

54-49 (thru 16); par 72(35/37) (72/134) 6675yds from the tips

43(25/18) putts; hit 3 greens and made a birdie on the front. CaptainCaveman around the green and with the putter, obviously.

Was my 3rd round in 10 days. Also 3rd round in over 12 years. Dug out the clubs from the basement 2 weeks ago and have decided to play and make an honest effort to get decent. Was probably a 20 or so handicap 20 years ago. (Shot 77 once in 2003. Only time ever under 80.) When I hit it good, I hit it good. (I put it 10 yds from the green in the fairway on a 500 yard par 5 today and made 8. I could have kicked it the rest of the way and fared better).

Been to the range a few times. I have not been to the putting green.

If I can make bogey every hole I'll be content. Hopefully by the end of next summer.

42-42-84. No birdies, 2 double bogeys. 73.0/142/6701 yards. 12/14 fairways, 6/18 greens, 31 putts.

Got in about 15 minutes on the range before going out and tweaked a few things. Ball striking was somewhat better. Pitching and chipping was quite a bit better -- I was able to deploy a 6H for some chips and went 3/3 getting up and down with it. Had a couple pitches that could have been better but overall it was decent. Putting was pretty average.

Interesting only to me, this was the first round in ages where I played the whole round* without a glove. Figured I'd try it, maybe paying more attention to grip might reduce some of herky-jerky parts of my awful golf swing. Went fine and I'll try it again, but I'll definitely have gloves in the bag for high humidity days.

* except for a hole and a half where I had to deploy rain gloves due to a pop up shower

basketball is the only sport i never played with a glove
football mostly
baseball always

I haven't worn a golf glove in over a year. Got some decent calluses on my leading hand. But I'm a 22GHIN so YMMV

43 (par 35). No birdies, 2 double bogeys.

A couple shots worse than it should have been, but that's Tuesday night golf.

52/52 with only 37 whacks this time at the same course. A few trips to the putting green has definitely helped. Unfortunately I hit it terribly with all the other clubs. A few good shots, but not nearly enough. The father and 2 sons I was paired with watched me drill the first drive, hit the green and make par. (1 of only 3 pars on the day). At that point they didn't quite understand why I referred to myself as the "best awful golfer in the world". They knew by the time it was all over.

The goal is consistent bogey-golf by the end of summer 2025.

40-40-80. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 73.0/142/6701 yards.

Definitely helps to be able to hit a dozen range balls beforehand.

43 (par 36). No birdies, 1 double bogey.

Just standard Tuesday night ****ery.

Not fully healed after 3 and a bit weeks of resting but going to go on my golf trip. Walking seems to be the biggest problem.

I did go and hit a small bucket of balls tonight and was actually quite surprised how I hit it probably the best I've hit it in months tbh. The good thing other than my heel aching a bit as I was just standing there hitting balls nothing on the Achilles was hurting. I actually think it helped after I finished got in my car and went to watch a my footy team I was able to walk a bit more freely not perfect but much better.

This trip is 3 nights 5 rounds. 1 round is on a par 3 course though so probs won't do that as I imagine you have to walk that. Every other course you can use buggies only problem is you have to stick to the paths. So I'll be aiming for the paths quite a lot 😃 .. I'll listen to my body and rest if I need to, even if that means not finishing a course or not even playing one or 2 of them,

When we come back the week after its club champs and I'm 85% sure I'm going to miss that, They'll offer me a buggy just to get me playing in it but I don't like that so will give it a miss this year. Then a week after that meant to be going to Wentworth to watch the Pro Am as it's meant to really good but not sure by then I'd be able to walk around that course,

best of luck UA1, look forward to the trip report

46 (35.2/127) one birdie, three pars. Started the round with a lost ball leading to a triple, but managed to settle in a bit after that. Still struggling with blocks off the tee. Highlight was the birdie on the #1 handicap hole. Still waiting to see if I got a skin for that one...

Th

XXX/54 (23 putts on the back. Brutal) at the same place. Hit the first fairway and green and made par, just to give the guys I was paired with the illusion I could play.

Hit it as bad as I ever have. Shanked a few. Never shanked shots before in my life. It was embarrassing. And demoralizing. Was totally out of sorts. Took 3 Xs on the front 9.Went to the range afterward and figured out the driver, at least for now. I hope I break 100 before the season ends, but that may be a tall order.

Had a run at a new personal best yesterday. Par 71, 70.2/124.

Was even after 15, had a sloppy effort on the short par-5 16th around the green and made a bogey. Then boom goes the dynamite: poor drive left, layup and a skull into the water on approach on long par-4 17th for a triple. Made a nice par on 18. 37-38-75. 3 birds, 1 triple, 3 bogies.

Best is 75 a couple times prior -- technically I had a 75 adjusted to a 74 earlier this year from shorter tees, so I still haven't cracked a gross 75 yet.

If you can shoot 54 with 23 putts on the back, you can break 100. Just need to manage the course and have a better day with the short game. It'll happen.

Nice round!

40-40-80. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 70.2/120/6150 yards.

Another mixed bag, ball striking was hit or miss, chipping meh, putting mostly very good.

Also played another nine as a two man scramble, doubled the last hole (lol) to shoot +3.

Haven't played in more than a month. It doesn't help. 115.

40-42-82. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 70.3/133/6100.

A much better ball striking day. Tweaked the swing and it produced major results, it was great getting back to having proper trajectory on the hybrids and irons.

49-42 91 today from 6700 yards, beat my course handicap by 7 strokes. No birdies, a few doubles and only one triple. Progress!

Got back from the trip today,

Was really fun to be apart of had about 20 of us go.

1 late comer literally booked and paid a day before about £500. Turned up played one round messed up his ankle and then went home the next morning, was a bit weird probably if I were him get some ice on it chill out for the day and see how it feels the next morning cause he went home and played the next morning.

Personally golf for me wasn't great I was in so much pain the only way I could somewhat hit the ball was to have all the weight on my heels and after every round my heels were in bad shape, buggies having to stick to the path was a pain for me.

I managed to get around all 4 rounds played some decent holes here and there but didn't really put a round together other than the last day where I managed to come 2nd? Not sure how that happened 😃

We had a fines book for charity which went well managed to raise a little bit of money for charity then also someone had a B-day they kept quiet which was found out so we all surprised him which was fun. Everyone also secretly voted a person to be 'golfers golfer' which I won, I'm guessing just getting around with my injury, I was also sorting out all the scoring and handicaps as we had a overall leaderboard so that helped as well.

Overall it was a laugh and don't regret going as it was nice to be around the other guys but I'm sure going to pay for it. Plan to rest for at least a month now and do nothing.

fun stories over the past few days...please keep 'em coming and keep up the solid results.

43-46-89 (par 36-37-73). No birdies, 3 double bogeys. 70.9/136/6221 yards.

Regressed, ball striking nowhere near as good. Also didn't make many putts. Played with a group, nobody scored well, so I'm not going to sweat it.

I "knew" I needed to finish par-par in my last round to shoot in the 80s. 17 is a 215y par 3. Had a 25 yard pitch, hit it to 6 feet, made it. 18 is a brutal par 5 with an elevated green with ravine in front, guarded by trees. Had a 23 yard pitch, hit it to 7 feet, made it. Was incredibly proud of that finish under pressure. Then added it up and was 88 not 89 .

The round before that, knew I needed par on 18 for 89. Hit my approach to 33 feet, had the previous group of my friends surrounding the green (we had 8 playing) and buried the 33 footer for 88 then also.

Played a tourney last week, shot 80. Fell apart during the middle of the round but picked it back up late. Birdied the first hole and that's it.

Since then 74, 74, 77, and 74.

44 (35.2/127) One birdie. 5 fairways, 2 Greens, 19 putts. Managed to keep tee shots playable, but approach shots on Par 5s are a real problem. Putting is still terrible.

Played in 9 hole scramble on Tuesday, won with -6, about a dozen teams.

I contributed one good pitch shot and moral support.
