I'm not a negative person.
But I'm on an Internet forum today, so here it goes...
**** the Casino of the Earth poker room.
Do you remember when we could pretend to be kings of the world, strolling past a 100ft techno lit waterfall into the goddamn most elegant poker room you've ever seen? Sky high ceilings, beautifully appointed. Gold and natural curves wall to wall. In the middle, a goddamn stage. The energy was so different in that room. The players, the dealers, the floors all had the attitude that they were in some special place.
Having a nightclub outside a poker room has got to be +EV for thinking players. It was. It was.
Now what does Mohegan Sun have? Ugh. I'm not even going to describe it. You know what it looks like and where it's located.
Mohegan does have some of the best dealers. I just wish they had a nicer room to showcase their skills and maybe ****ing cheer them up or something. ****. Last time I was there it felt like they all needed a hug.

I don’t think anyone would disagree. The old room was the nuts. Nothing like it being packed wall to wall on Friday and Saturday nights. I used to have to get there at 6:30 if I wanted a seat at $1/$2. I was sad when the rumors started about it moving, but then realized the entire casino was closing, so they had no choice. I wish they put a little more effort into the new room in terms of visuals and atmosphere. Unfortunately, that costs money, which is not something a casino is willing to do for poker these days.
They have all brand new gorilla gaming tables that cost 4-5k per that are about to be installed with the new bravo/shuffle machines. There's rumors of a new stage area coming in the back near tables 25-27, but who knows. I would like the color scheme on the walls/rug to change but I mean, that's really whatever. They're definitely putting money into the room overall though.

rumor has it the new shufflers don’t fit the new tables.
Is there a reason they don't post tournament results anywhere? I'm wondering what the average numbers are in daily tournaments specifically the new survivor Wednesday and the Thursday night.. anyone? Even the peasant casino next door posts results what's the issue here?
This Sunday August 11th, we are going to have a special 8-16 HORSE game. Starting sometime before 11:00 a.m.. apparently many of the poker players are getting a free $75 gift card on that day. So since the players will be at the casino anyway we thought we'd have a special game. All are welcome. Of course, our regular Wednesday and Thursday games remain intact. We're approaching 3 years now.

to Tuesday @11am or earlier and Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. sharp. We will be keeping this schedule for the time being. also we are going to have a one time Friday game on September 27th. Starting at 11:00 a.m. or earlier. Our regular first Sunday of the month HORSE game has been very popular and will continue

Eight years after screwing up a tournament really badly, Mohegan Sun now will not have a late table just be the people who signed up late.
In 2016 there was a tournament where they accidentally gave a late table 20,000 chips per person where the rest of the tables (nine I think) all got 15,000 chips. One of the reasons it happened was that there were no players at the table who could see that the starting stacks were wrong. Now there will be players from others table that will know what the starting stack is and will likely prevent that from happening, if it comes up again.
The other thing that makes it a really good idea is that it will help prevent people from colluding by showing up late in groups of two or more players. Hopefully. Not that it's happened. Just makes me feel so much more comfortable playing there at their Saturday $355 tournament. I prefer live games to online specifically because colluding is so much harder to do. Though at tournaments where seating is random it is less likely to happen (unless all late players are seated at the same table...)
The last tournament I played at Mohegan Sun a couple of weeks ago, they took one player from our table (and I would guess some other tables as well) to help start up a new table, and I hope they keep doing that. I'm starting to like the room a lot more and starting to feel trust, like they will have our backs.
Just went to the lounge and omfg the smell on the silverware is beyond repulsive.
2 weeks in a row I went and I grabbed multiple pieces of silverware and plates to confirm and they definitively do a terrible job of cleaning them if they actually do clean them.
There was always a funky smell emanating from that kitchen. But man this is beyond bad.
I actually think it’s a health concern. Free food at what price �� ?!

Spoke with someone at mohegan and the smell magically went away.
Nice 13.5% rake for the Fall Showdown. Was really expecting 18-20%

Wednesday November 20th is our regular 8 - 16 OE game. but this Tuesday November 19th we're going to have a 1-2 PLO hi lo game starts at 11 am. Last week we had a list of 24 players. Game was called and started with a full table and a 9 person list

I’ve tried to reason with floor people and they aren’t hearing it. They say that it’s the same policy everywhere and is fair etc. JFC make it end. On top of that all of their events are 10 handed. What do you mean? That you need to immediately announce a re-entry? It is a little annoying if you don't have enough cash on you, but I bet if you told the floor you're running to the ATM or something they would be cool with it. I've left the room, got more money and re-entered without even announcing I was going to re-enter. The cage literally could not have cared less

Agreed. It’s one of those things that makes no sense when you just take a second to look at it. Also, the room is massive with a lot of dead space and often several tables not being used. Why can’t they spread the players out more instead of going 10 handed? It would make playing more enjoyable, and would allow late-reg and re-entries to be able to sit down easier. 10 handed only made sense in the old room when every table was jam packed
