NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA
Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!
A lot happened while you were away:
Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC
The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship
The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.
FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents
Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents
LSU and USC play in Vegas!
Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!
Texas at Michigan!
Alabama at Wisconsin!
Notre Dame at ATM!
Clemson vs Georgia!
And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:
Texas @ ATM is back!
Texas vs Georgia
Oregon vs Ohio State
USC @ Michigan
USC vs Penn State
And then the bizarre:
UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game
Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason
Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!
Let's get it on!

Somebody is embarrassing the SEC!
psst! Brian, I'd like a word.
No info on when a shortened game (UK v. Southern Miss) becomes official to NCAA or to sportsbooks? I'm thinking the 5 minute rule was the game must reach 5 minutes to go 4th quarter or is no action. Can't remember for sure.
According to chatgpt:
In NCAA football, a game is typically considered official if it reaches a certain point, even if it is shortened for some reason (e.g., weather). However, the specific point at which a game becomes official can vary slightly depending on the context:
NCAA Rules:
NCAA Completion Criteria: According to NCAA rules, a football game is considered official if at least three full quarters (i.e., 45 minutes of gameplay) have been completed. If a game is shortened due to weather or other circumstances after this point, the result at the time the game is stopped will generally stand.
Sportsbooks:
Sportsbooks Rules: The rules for sportsbooks may vary depending on the specific book. However, most sportsbooks align with the NCAA's criteria and will consider a game official and bets valid if at least 55 minutes of gameplay have been completed. If a game is stopped before this point, most sportsbooks will void bets (unless the outcome of a particular bet has already been determined, such as a first-half bet).
It's always important to check the specific sportsbook's rules, as they can differ slightly on how they handle shortened games.
Since this game didn't make it out of the 3rd, I'd say you're SOL.
Vanderbilt saving the SEC from a 1-4 start against P4 competition was not on my bingo card
Georgia dominated Clemson but the SEC looked pretty bad in the other big games with Notre Dame, Miami, and USC all beating them.
PC wakes from hibernation and chooses cat violence
and the timing of what billy was saying along with his actions looks almost scripted
I'll never look at a Denny's quite the same again.
Pro tip: When traveling, always pick the motel that shares a parking lot with Dennys. That's how you know it's good!
Jesus that BC punt cover guy. Killin me.
Georgia dominated Clemson but the SEC looked pretty bad in the other big games with Notre Dame, Miami, and USC all beating them.
TAM was the 9th highest ranked SEC team and lost a nailbiter to the no 7 team in the country - if you think that makes the SEC look bad then you mustve failed a lot of classes.
Fla had a 4.5 season W/L total lol.
I realize the standards are different for us but come on.
How ****ing hard is it to have a working ****ing clock? What is this, Oakland?
Fsu has 4 yards of offense. 4.
Our best teams are UGA, Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and Tennessee though right? I realize the standard is different for us but come on. TAM played the no 7 team in America and is the 7th or 8th best team in our league at best, Fla has a 4.5 over/under win total, etc.
wait, what?
are you pledging allegiance to an entire conference by proxy?
Is FSU good at anything?
Florida state looks cooked
predictions are positive the coffee table remains slick and shiny
because arcdog makes a pledge and continues to wipe it down with furniture restorer
BC now officially favored...
Maybe Bill O'Brien does know a thing or two about coaching offense. BC cooking.
