The premise is simple... every week you will pick the winner of every single game, and the points awarded are weighted by the vig-free moneyline.
30 points wagered on 15 games and 50 points on the game of the week, for a total of 500 points wagered per week.
The winner of the previous week gets to select the following week's GOTW!
When there are bye weeks, each game will be worth slightly more to bring the total to 500/week.

This year we have a new and improved way of playing swami! TechSupport built a custom website for us to make our picks and see game results. I'll still post the weekly games/points as well as periodic overall score updates and MNF scenarios here, but all of your picks, the game-by-game results, and the season scoreboard (and money scoreboard) will be hosted on our new swami website!

A few things to keep in mind when you go to the new website:
When you first visit, you will need to sign up and create a new account. Use your username from the forums so everyone can recognize you.
DON'T LOSE YOUR PASSWORD!
This site does not collect any personal information nor require your email to sign up.
After signing up, the site will prompt you to log in with the credentials you just created.
When you first get to the site, you will see three sections:
The first is where you can make your picks. The table on the left shows what teams you have currently selected for the current week (it will be blank when you first log in). The table on the right is where you can select your picks for the current week. You must make a pick for every game! After you click submit, give it a few seconds to load, and you will see your choices reflected on the left table. You are free to make new picks whenever you would like up to kickoff of the first game, but you must reselect for each game to resubmit.
We will always allow late entries up to kickoff at 1pm eastern on Sunday every week. However, if you have made picks by Thursday kickoff, your picks will be locked in for the weekend. If you pick after the Thursday (or the occasional Friday/Saturday) games have kicked off, those games will be locked and you will receive 0 points.
The second section shows the results for the current week's games. Once a game has concluded, you can click "Expand Results" to see who picked which game. Everything is greyed out for now since no games have been played yet. As we progress through the season, there will be drop-downs to see results for prior weeks.
The third section shows the season scoreboard. Once we establish the rules for the money side-pool, there will be a secondary scoreboard for the money under the main one.

Building sites like this is something TechSupport does for fun. We are open to any and all feature/bugfix requests, so feel free to let us know if something needs changing. TechSupport will be online Wednesday fixing any issues and making changes ahead of the season start on Thursday.

One thing I want all side pool players to think about is, how do we handle a missed week of picks?
It’s a long season through the holidays, so it’s bound to happen.
I’m in favor of, if you miss a week of picks, you get the score of the lowest bot for that week (dogbot, favebot, homebot, or awaybot. NOT 2p2bot or fadebot, because those are derived from the picks of our field).
Then, at the end of the season, we drop everyone’s lowest one week of picks. So everyone gets one mulligan for the year, it doesn’t unduly hurt a missed week, and it benefits everyone equally.
Let’s come to a consensus as early into the season as we can.
No one should miss any weeks, SWAMI should be everyone's #1 priority from Thursday until February 9th 😀

IIRC the lowest bot would have improved my score for a few weeks.
I would suggest lowest bot minus 100 or minus 50 or some reasonable number so that a penalty is made but not an extreme penalty.
However, I won't argue too much about whatever is decided.

If you have made your picks already but it's still before the cutoff and you want to change something:
1) lol u. congrats you got the game wrong via the Fundamental Law of Swamidynamics
if you change back, you'll still get it wrong. congrats you have singlehandedly changed the outcome of an NFL game. feel the power, and the zero.
2) if you read 1 and still want to change a pick, you have to re-select all the games, not just the one you want to change. if that isn't incentive to stand pat...
