If mp is a whale I guess 5x ip has its place but theoretically even 3x ip is pretty big too, yet it is standard live as nearly everyone sucks/call too wide

There are always gonna be hands with whales when we can deviate away from our standard which should usually be 3x IP and 4x OOP, while adding an x for callers in between.

do you have a club? with a club i think you can 1/4-1/3 range bet the flop as you block some of the continuing range and can turn equity.

checking flop is fine too but you better also have check behinds with Aces/Kings here as well otherwise you might as well turn your cards face up.

He 3! 5x after a raise and call and got 2 callers. Doesn't seem terrible.

I would fold to the flop lead. Awful flop for you. When you 3! AK and miss, sometimes you can cbet and barrel, but this seems like a situation to give up.

Sometimes when you 3!, you will have TT+ or a could draw and be happy with this situation.

Actually I didn't even realize it until dueceblocker pointed it out, there was a caller after the initial raise so the 3bet sizing was fine. Why did you think it was too big? We shoudn't really be min-raising or clicking it back.

I wouldn't make it so large, but it is fine with a caller in a 1/1 game with 7x opens and where someone cold called 35xBB. Some people are too stuck on what proper sizing is. It depends on the dynamics of the table and whether people will call the 5x.

I’d 3b to around 25bb pre and surrender on the flop because of the cold caller.

This assumes he’s not cold calling with low pairs and suited connectors like some loose passives.

The sizing was ok, I originally didn't realize there was another caller and as long as hero folded it was played fine.
