English Premier League 2024-25

2024-2025 EPL Preview

Man City have set another record with 115 charges of financial shenanigans and also managed to win a 4th PL title in a row becoming the first team to do so narrowly beating out arsenal who took it to the last day this year. They accomplished this by rattling off an absurd 33 games unbeaten in all competitions making it 6 titles in 7 years for the Citizens.

Some pictures from the aftermath:

Golden boot winner:
Erling Haaland

Golden Glove:

Season Preview:
Man City and Arsenal have distanced themselves as the clear favorites for the title. With Arsenal closing the gap and beating Man City on xG could this be the year that they get over the line? There are some large error bars on Liverpool with klopp retiring and Salah getting older, will they be able to insert themselves in the title race again like they did last year?

For top 4/5 can Aston Villa repeat last years feat thanks to the normal culprits being completely incompetent or will one of Chelsea/United get their **** together finally (hopefully not)? Spurs went full Spurs throwing the match vs City to stop arsenal from winning the title while costing themselves top 4 in the process, will they be in the race again despite doing no business at all in the summer to address squad needs?

The relegation fight as usual has the 3 promoted teams as favorites to go back down, but with PSR looming in the background could we see a surprise team relegated?

If I want to find the posts of what people were saying about Ange exactly 1 year ago, do I have to call BAIDS or Langer?

Wasn't he mentioned in the bible as the second coming?

Very frustrating but let's not be results orientated. We could quite easily have won three and drawn one given performances / how games played out, 4 wins wouldn't be ridiculous.

In fact I see this as the *opposite* to last year when we kept winning games we really shouldn't have come close to, if people swing from anointing Ange the next Fergie then to the next Pardew now it speaks volumes on how people think.

Arsenal as I said above had the best defensive shape I've seen in literally years, it's absolutely ridiculous. We had to resort to potshots and whipping balls into nobody when there are 5 defenders in the box.

We took a fraction too long to pull the trigger on multiple occasions which was appallingly frustrating to watch at times knowing how few opportunities you're going to get against them.

Game of inches. Only idiots are panicking.

All this said I think we are playing better now than last season, and absolutely last season was better than the season before.

Teams better on the counter than Arsenal will inflict a lot of damage on Spurs.

start by searching the forum for "miracle worker". im not joking.

by BOIDS k

spuds: this is your yearly reminder that the baldness or otherwise of the man on the sideline has little to no impact, and that if you want better results you need to get better players

every one of spuds recent managers since 2008 has won approx between 55% and 50% of their games

try buying a midfielder or something

ange: 50.0% prior to today

Lads it's Tottenham

Spurs did a poor job of turning deep possession into chances. Part their fault part arsenal being so solid defensively. Was a pretty even game largely, which feels good given the injuries and absences. If we can get a draw at city it's pretty much a top end outcome.

I thought you couldn't be offside from a corner kick?

The drop off since they won the league last year in October is quite concerning.

Credit to Ange…they play well and look dangerous and entertaining. Johnson is really bad though and Kulu is kind of bad. Tough to do much with that. Solanke remains to be seen.

ange woke up today and said **** it lets score some goals

Unfortunately also woke up as manager of spurs.

Woof

Woof again

That was a defensive masterclass and ugly win. The first half was a lot of fun though

What does Isak even do?

Spurs players had to get themselves back from international duty? Lol Daniel Levy.

checks out

^^slightly disagree with the overall framing. There were multiple occasions when a shot was there to be taken and we took one too many touches and chance was gone. Those go down as 0.00 xG because of tentative play but the shot was there to be taken, albeit relatively low % ones (case in point the Solanke one in 1H when he just tried to turn, Son one in 2H inside the box where he did similar...)

Overall it's been a similar picture each game - lots of the ball in dangerous positions without actually getting too many clear cut opportunities due to some poor decision making and/or execution with final ball.

I don't think anyone thinks we are amazing, but similar to how last year we weren't 23 pts from 9 games good we aren't 4 pts from every 4 games bad this year.

We will be fine, not panicking at all yet.

Hat trick of consecutive wins at the toilet bowl.

It's... beautiful

OBJECTION

If there was VAR in the Championship they'd still be deciding whether this goal should stand now.

streets wont 4get

Ah the good old days with 30 yard screamers. Before analytics took over and you find how low of an xg it is and the manager kills you for doing anything creative.

Also the good old days:

The analysts would've loved that goal.
xG was about 11
