General TV Discussion and Thread for Shows Without A Thread Thread
OOTV doesnt like family comedies much huh? Raising Hope and The Middle are two of the best(possibly the best outside of NBC)comedies on tv yet no threads.
Just an observation.
would you rate tulsa king as premium televsion? like anything close to the sopranos? the promos always make it look really dumb imo
It's one of those shows that is better than it has any right to be, similar to Ted Lasso in that regard. I thought the first episode of S2 was cheesy AF. Critics say it starts slow but is just as good if not better than S1 so I'll continue to watch. S1 was pretty good.
thanks for all the recs guys, i'll give tulsa king a shot
Stallone's weird-ass old face creeped me out, but will probably watch S2 because I love Martin Starr.
oh martin starr is awesome, i'm def in now
i don't remember any of party down, but i loved the show and anyone in it is forever in my heart as a result
also loved starr in silicon valley, which i actually do remember
oh man if you don't remember it that just means it's time for a rewatch!
party down so elite.
Any recommendations for a show that's fun right out the gates; action-packed, plot holes, bad dialogue and subpar acting but awesome nonetheless? I'm thinking something like 24 or Prison Break. In Patrice O'Neal's roast of Charlie Sheen, he described Charlie's work as very Christian Slaterish. "He sucks, but he's good—but he sucks at the same time." That's what I'm looking for.
Prison Break season 1
Breakout Kings
Burn Notice
White Collar
Gangs of London was that description, to me.
The Last Ship
I thought this was "Last Resort" but then realzied last ship was another show i thought had promise but ultimately gave up on after like 2-3 episodes
remember seeing pilot for last resort, thinking it was going to be the greatest show ever and then by episode 2 i was thinking it actually sucks and by episode 3 stopped - very similar to the last ship
greg, in all honestly, the best guilty pleasure popcorn fun show i've ever watched is entourage
I watched all of The Last Ship, it was ok, a bit better the first few seasons.
I just watched the trailer for Last Resort, I don't think I ever heard of it, it seems to have some good reviews but if it got cancelled after only 1 season it couldn't have been that good.

pilot was elite - honestly one of the best pilots i've ever seen
but then they pull a ffing switcheroo on you and the following episodes just go off in a new and very poorly crafted tangent
I found the Last Ship to be perfect airplane content when I was traveling a lot internationally.
Black Sails is another one.

Hanna maybe, been a while since I've seen it. Definitely action right away. Didn't make it through second season though.

Prison Break season 1
the boys fits this profile except it's actually really good production and writing wise - very few "omg that's a major plothole" moments
Reacher
Spartacus
Banshee
Warrior
Strike Back is probably what you are looking for. Banshee and Warrior will probably have too good of dialogue and acting.

+1. Have always avoided these types of shows in the past because I thought they were too cheesy or lame, but just watched Reacher and it was a ton of fun and might be just what you're looking for.
Yeah, a lot of these recommendations seem to be what I'm looking for or close to it. Reacher was one of the ones that stood out. Thanks everyone.
Yeah but Reacher is actually awesome
