I know this was a crazy play. I have history with this guy; he has very loose ranges. I know this is not a good play overall. I put his range on mid-pairs, some random Broadways(preflop), and maybe some 9x hands on the flop.

My question is, regardless of the result, is my play ever good? My thought was I could easily rep AK, and if called, I still have a flush draw. Anyway, it was kamikaze, and I got burned, but is it EVER a good play?

Why would you play AK this way? You say you could rep AK but I don't think anyone reasonably 3x over bet jams AK here. Idk what hand you could possibly be repping and as it happened, the only hands calling you have you crushed. Why not just continue with a large bet?

Bet $300/$400 puts pressure on a lot of those PPs and even 9x that you could get value from on turn and jam river and you should fold out the same hands you wanted to fold while still getting value from the hands that call turn fold river and it's a nore believable line you can take with AA/KK/QQ vs a competent villain to balance.

Your turn shove basically turns your hand face-up and insures that you're only getting called by better. Unfortunately for you, he has lots of "better."

I think checking back or making a normal bet are both much higher EV plays than shoving.

I agree. It was almost 4am 12 hrs session( no excuse) and I was pretty surprised he was THAT strong. Obviously I wasn't targeting a set to fold lol.

To be honest it was a rash decision. I saw the King and got excited it hits my perceived range so hard and I also didn't know how much he had. He had his hands covering his stack and I didn't ask either. (Also my fault) I literally never make these kind of plays I just wanted to put max pressure on him and ****ed myself in the process...

It just looks so nut-flush-bluffy, I don't know how often any TT/JJ/QQ/Kx are folding.

In hidesight it does look like this but you think TT-QQ doesn't find a fold? Calling off their stack? And what Kx hands check call that flop OOP?

With respect to your last question about the flop, I'm assuming the 3 KQs that suit-touched the flop should check-call, and I don't see why AKo might not call as well, or even the timid AKs who didn't want to 4-bet PF.

With respect to PPs, Villain needs to call with approx. 25% of his hands that he came to the turn with; you can do the range analysis on this to see where the line of "indifference" is to call/fold. However, he certainly might call with any of the Bdwy PPs if he can easily smell the bluff.

What is your definition of "good play"? If you mean will V sometimes fold a hand that is ahead of you obviously yes. If you mean all we know is V had a hand that called our 3 bet and called the flop with our only read being he has very loose ranges likely a negative ev play.

This is a pure punt.

I know it was an emotional/ tired and overall stupid play and I paid for it. I was just wondering if there is EVER ANY merits of playing a hand in this manner?

Pretend you had KK and binked your set OTT, what would you bet then (not knowing he also has a set). I think your answer is pretty clear.

Lol wtf. I mean you ran into the nuts so to some degree this is not instructive at all to your decision making in the future, but non river overbet jam is almost always draw.

Pre. seems too big, flop seems too big. Turn bet is maybe fine, but lol at 4x pot.

To be fair I don't think shoving KK on turn is bad, the problem is balancing it properly.

I thought that. 0% chance I jam obviously unless I know what he has but if I knew that I would have taken the free card...

How is it not bad? I have no indication he has any real strength? Raise called pre then only check called then checked a down bet. I got owned for sure but I think jamming three Kings might be worse than what I did? Lol

How is flop too big $80 into $210?

Yeah- never a good play...

Unless I guess you are playing in a game way smaller than you want that allows rebuys at 75% stack, and your strategy is to bomb, bomb, bomb until everyone is going to be hitting the ATM to put their life savings on the table to take advantage of superdonkey - and then start playing poker.

I don't see how this play could ever be positive EV. Fun hand though.

Dang it, OP, I told you in your last thread not to include results, and here you included them in the title and the HH itself..

Frankly, I think this post is more to beat yourself up than to actually ask the question. I'm going to lock this, and if you want to re-post later, stopping at when the turn action gets to you, feel free.
