English Premier League 2024-25
2024-2025 EPL Preview
Man City have set another record with 115 charges of financial shenanigans and also managed to win a 4th PL title in a row becoming the first team to do so narrowly beating out arsenal who took it to the last day this year. They accomplished this by rattling off an absurd 33 games unbeaten in all competitions making it 6 titles in 7 years for the Citizens.

Season Preview:
Man City and Arsenal have distanced themselves as the clear favorites for the title. With Arsenal closing the gap and beating Man City on xG could this be the year that they get over the line? There are some large error bars on Liverpool with klopp retiring and Salah getting older, will they be able to insert themselves in the title race again like they did last year?
For top 4/5 can Aston Villa repeat last years feat thanks to the normal culprits being completely incompetent or will one of Chelsea/United get their **** together finally (hopefully not)? Spurs went full Spurs throwing the match vs City to stop arsenal from winning the title while costing themselves top 4 in the process, will they be in the race again despite doing no business at all in the summer to address squad needs?
The relegation fight as usual has the 3 promoted teams as favorites to go back down, but with PSR looming in the background could we see a surprise team relegated?
I mean you can't just not send someone off because it would ruin the game, that would be ridiculous.
That would be ridiculous of course, and no one is suggesting that. But also ridiculous is sending someone off because one of their terribly egregious offences was to kick the ball away. My God.

Was a joke about Kovacic.
You mean the offense that is literally a yellow card offense and has been for decades?
After Sunday, what is now the worst refereeing decision of the season so far?
Did Trossard getting a yellow card for delaying a restart overtake Rice getting a yellow card for delaying a restart?
Close one imo, those are 2 huge refereeing howlers
LOL they're probably not even in the top 20

You're not going to like it if the letter of the law is applied strictly against all offences.
Many, possibly most games will be decided by penalties or by whomever has closest to 11 players on the field.

Players will adjust to stop getting sent off or conceding lots of penalties. Trossard might not, but lots of others will.

But then you have things like kovacic last year getting 2 clear yellows if not one should of been a straight red and being told oliver didn't send him off because he didn't want to effect the game by giving a red so early.
Im just tired of the intellectual dishonesty by pundits and PGMOL about what and when they decide to enforce rules. I think it's more incompetence than malice, and inconsistency is basically an indication you are simply bad at what you are trying to do.
I think one of the most tilting things is it seems like City literally never have contentious decisions against them. If liverpool hadn't fallen off down the stretch last year they could easily had the best case for being slighted between the non offside goal ruled out (vs spurs i think), the non peno call vs arsenal (odegaard handball), and the non peno call vs city (doku booting mcallister in the chest).
Seriously though can anyone remember the last outrageously bad decision that city got against them?

Either the players will adjust or the rules will. Quite funny people crying about the rules actually being applied.
Different things get focus each season, I remember when it was tackle from behind being a straight red, those quickly stopped happening after that. Wonder why.

If they want to go rules are rules the players will adjust, so long as it is consistently applied. It becomes a problem when the players have no idea what and when things will be enforced.

Not sure you realise it yet but you're arguing that a high number of games have been incorrectly refereed because penalties weren't awarded for offences that would have resulted in a FK if outside the area.
That's assuming you're being intellectually honest about any of this and aren't just trolling.
Who knows, maybe one day the PGMOL will see Spurs as a genuine threat to City and we will get to see how you handle all the atrocious decisions then.
300 yellow cards have been given so far in the PL this year yet 99% of the protesting has been about 2 correct ones among the 300

I mean we get plenty of bad decisions every game and pretty sure when there was a string of "questionable" handball decisions against us (when that was the thing of the moment) in quick succession I was similar on here to how I am now.
You don't...... actually believe the PGMOL have it rigged in favour of City though.... right? This is a bit?

I mean assuming the rules will be enforced is a good place to start.
The players also get long spiels at the start of every season about any rule changes / areas of focus for the coming year.

The problem with talking about this with fans like you is that you watch about as many complete games of Arsenals as I watch of Spurs ie two a season, so instead I will ask you one question:
Do you actually believe that referees fixed games in favour of Barcelona?
blatantly kicking the ball away to waste time or prevent an attacking free kick being taken quickly has been enforced for ages
the reason it doesnt come up more often is not due to lack of enforcement but bc almost no one is dumb enough to do it
the correct snide move is to pick the ball up and start making large orchestral conductor movements with your free hand in the direction of the referee. time wasted, no yellow. everyone knows this.

I mean this is flat out wrong - I watch a lot of Arsenal games, but even if I didn't it's not difficult to find the laughable flaws in the logic you folks present in your victim mentality.
Cinarocket said it - focus on these 2 correct yellow cards is just classic Arsenal fan.
Not sure why Barcelona case is relevant - 1) they're independent events and 2) there is actual evidence for that. I'm not saying it's impossible that there is corruption in any sport ever, just that I like any element of evidence to believe in it first.
Talking of faulty logic - if someone had asked you 10-15 years ago if you thought referees were fixing matches for Barcelona, you'd have firmly said no, and as we know now you'd have been totally wrong.
Anyway I don't think it's all about City bribery. The refs almost all being from the North and having certain biases because of that is a factor too.

Plenty of players do it and have done it very recently. The dumb people are the ones who don't know this.

Or just stand in the way a bit.
Remember when they experimented with the rugby rule where if you did that and team kicked it at you the free kick advanced ten yards? Those were the days.
The game's crying out for sin bins or the equivalent, for orange card type offences too where it's not a clear red but the level of recklessness or intent is more than a yellow.
In the camp here of Trossard letting us down massively. Just zero need to do what he did and considering he has been complaining about lack of minutes this action is going to put him down the pecking order. I mean come on Arteta gave him a chance of starting against City and both yellows were dumb as ****.
Now I do not think there is any bias in the referee decisions but all we need in the league is consistency. Although one way to stop it is to just simply stop kicking the ball away. Not sure why other fans are moaning as I have seen plenty of decisions go our way over the last few seasons.
Premier League clubs have reportedly sent concerns about 'gamesmanship' and Arsenal's repeated use of the "dark arts" throughout last season to the PGMOL
