Sup Tim Burton with all the LC?
did you really need to juice the beetle twice?
I stopped a girl from getting assaulted on the train platform today. **** was crazy.
finally discover self-restraint or something other?
I had just gotten to the bottom of the stairs and this guy grabbed a girl from behind in a bear hug at the far end of the platform. I thought they were joking around for a sec, but she started screaming and her face was pure horror. I yelled out HEY! HEY WHAT THE **** ARE YOU DOING and started walking towards them. He let go and she collapsed to the ground, her phone went flying onto the the tracks. The guy stood dazed for a beat and then took off, I ran to the girl to make sure she was okay. The whole thing was maybe 3 seconds.
She was super shook up, took awhile to calm her down. Transit guy was cool helping us get cops and retrieving her phone from the tracks. Super merc muscle cops showed up first, showed us a pic on their phone and asked if that was the guy (yes), then they immediately took off. Apparently a camera flagged the guy on another train and they caught him a few stations away.
Second set of normal cops took forever to arrive. At that point I was like hey, I’m not gonna leave you until you feel safe and the girl was grateful. She kept cycling through emotions and I honestly feel really bad for her. We chilled with the transit dude for an hour waiting for the cops, then did the statement and charges stuff. I rode the train with her to her stop, and that was that. I gave her my number for whatever and she shortly texted later that she was home and thanked me again profusely.
**** was ****ing wild. Life in the big city.
obviously something other
whatthejish a good samaritan
peace brother
Well done.
Very proud of you jish. :: salute ::
'jish, long or short sleeves?
and do you believe a wrist tattoo played any role in the thwarting of assault?
did you also happen to ask her if she was interested in learning the latest fast food app discount stacking techniques?
Long sleeves, was wearing a hoodie and freshly soaked from the rain.
I don’t think any ink was visible. I also don’t think I’m a very intimidating person, but I definitely tried to utilize the “dad voice” when yelling at the guy. Haven’t busted out that tone since my substitute teaching days.
Lol, no FF mentions but we talked about brunch spots and movies. She said she loves westerns, I encouraged her to watch Deadwood.
As an aside, I’ve had a truly terrible time sleeping since the incident. Nothing specific like bad dreams, just restless and sweaty sleep.
I took today off and finally zonked out for 12 hours straight last night, so I got that going for me.
Imagine what the poor girl is now dealing with. That stuff changes you.
EXACTLY. Like for me, that was just a crazy day. I’ll probably be a little more alert from now on, but other than that my life will be the same.
For her? This could be an insane emotional scar she carries for the rest of her life. I felt (and still feel) so bad for her. It’s frightening how simple it is for actions/reactions like this to occur.
Got to see 71 yo stroke survivor Lucinda Williams and band open (!!) for 74 yo Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs last night in Mesa. The ~5 song finale with both bands on stage doing a couple of Tom's and a couple of Lucinda's songs, plus Wild Thing was pretty sweet. Was surprised at how many of both band's songs I knew. Lucinda has a few on the Spotify catch-all playlist I keep (think GG's ipod), Dirty Knobs not so much. Mike was the guitarist for the Heartbreakers, if you are having a hard time placing him.
Missed out on FTG, though. I think Mike didn't want to offend Lucinda with it.
ETA: Lucinda's voice was made for Southern Accents, imo. Was great last night!

a random crack simultaneously rocks the existence of two commuter windshields at highway speed
after such an impactful experience sympathetic humans tend to pull over with a sincere reach out to check on the other
wouldn't be surprised to hear about a theraputic benefit from sharing your mutual experience
things that prevent sleep often include unsolved puzzles and our human desire for resolution
also origins of the word somnambulist
if it wasn't apparent, i'm suggesting you reach out to her as a friend
you both share a mutual trauma and can potentially help each other work through it
wishing you both all the best
I prefer the disappear into the sunset model... leave her with that 'What ever happened to my savior' feeling.
Honor is something that happens in the absence of witnesses...
I know you almost got murdered but
