Just a quick thought:

Joan Cusack is a national treasure and should be more famous. Maybe we can get her on a stamp, or something.

Broken YouTube Link

cannot wait

i often wonder where in my life i went wrong and didn't end up marrying cate blanchett

she's too much woman for you. For all of us, actually.

I could maybe get Joan Cusack, and I'd be fine with that.

Are we talking older movie babes now?

In preparation for seeing The Substance, I decided to watch the director’s prior film, Revenge. Plot-wise, it’s fairly standard, pretty much exactly what I expected in that regard. I did not expect the rest…. If that’s what Coralie Fargeat does with unknowns and no budget… then I’m legit nervous about seeing The Substance.

This is so much more eloquently written than I could have, but I agree 100% percent with this. I saw The Substance last week and it’s one of the most memorable movies I’ve ever seen. Hard to recommend to the “average” audience though, if that makes sense.

I watched Substance(2024) last night. The point of the movie seemed to be to show off sensatonal body and makeup horror special effects. It was technically excellent in this regard. Freak shows do attract people. There was a good amount of soft core porn there too. It's is always nice to see attractive boobs and butts but it is not considered advanced filmmaking. I guess the director and writer wanted to touch on people's fear of cosmetic surgery going very wrong. There are stories in the social media of people over-doing surgeries so much that they become grotesque looking. The filmmakers went over the top with this paranoia. The main characters and the storyline didn't make a lot of sense and it was because the filmmaker's didn't really care about that part. In the beginning, Demi's character still looked quite attractive. Too bad she had zero friends or family ever around to tell her. The second half of the film was repulsive to watch and I never want to watch that again, and would I not recommend it to any friend as entertainment. I'm canceling all my Botox and serum injection appointments too! Being "memorable" is not a desirable feature with this film. So grade B for me. Happy film watching!

Well that review weirdly makes me want to see it, lol.

I have no interest in seeing The Substance, but I see this gross crap daily. At the bottom of my Instagram is a lot of recommendations for influences and for whatever reason many of them are Russian females. Many of these young Russian chicks look like total crap because of lip filler and you can tell that they would have looked naturally beautiful before all the cosmetic procedures.

nice boobs and butts you say?

I really liked Revenge. It was a great genre thick.

Election was recently released on 4k uhd.. while it's not a fully formed Alexander Payne piece, it is entertaining and redeeming for the characters.

I am left wondering what ever happened to mTV studios and their productions... and I feverishly awaiting a Napoleon Dynamite release someday.

election is elite

Watched 2006 Christian Bale in Rescue Dawn after seeing a 45 minute episode about the story in Morgan Freeman's Greatest Escapes. Never heard of the movie before. It's great.

So did I. It’s extreme closeups of the gore and the intimacy of it that caught me off guard. Like, the violence and brutality wasn’t just for the characters.

genre FLICK, not thick. Geeze. Stupid spellcheck.

really excited for The Brutalist

loved his previous movie Vox Lux, and this sounds extremely up my alley, plus it’s shot on film

Megalopolis... holy crap. Think one from the Heart minus story cohesiveness.

I made it exactly one hour and twenty minutes thru this, and I am willing to bet that will be further than most of you.

heh

I might take a gummy and go see it
