Limped pot on bubble with qjo
Hi,
Wanted to get views here on what are the lowest hands I could shove in this spot. Stone cold bubble in low stakes live casino tournament. I'm shortest with about 8bbs, next lowest player, who's been playing way too many hands, has about 15bbs. 7 handed, three biggest stacks limp, bb ante in play.
Utg limps (playing too many hands, calling too much, about 35bbs)
LJ limps (seems solid, plays aggressively pushing his chip stack around, about 40bbs)
Hj limps (seems to be playing too passively give his chip stack, about 45bbs)
I have QJo in sb. In previous hands, all three had opened with raises and so these limps were very capped. Shove or fold? What's your bottom of range shove in that spot?

It depends on dynamics and whether they are always limping or raising or if you have shoving opportunities. It would be kind of a disaster if you shoved and two players flat called. It is a profitable complete in the SB.
Yeah this isn't really a hand I like to shove, the marginal hands that could limp and call you are still ahead of you. I'd just complete and get it in with top pair, an open-ended draw, or a gutshot + two overs.
Thanks both. It didn't even occur to me I could complete with my stack size.
Annoyingly I folded, flop was QTx. Action was x, x, bet, fold, fold. HJ showed ATo and LJ flashed an ace. Given stack size, price and hand, I suspect at least HJ would have called my shove.
5.5 to 1 odds to complete and you can flop a strong pair or a straight draw, it's a no-brainer. I mean, practically speaking, there isn't much difference in shoving and fold equity from an 8BB stack vs. a 7.5BB stack.
Total mistake not to complete with a short stack. Similarly, people make the mistake of not defending the BB to a minraise short stacked.
I'd call if there was a raise and a call in front.

I have come back from 4BB and less many many times on the bubble. You do not need to go all in just because you are under 10BB. You could probably have folded every hand and someone would bust first. I see it all the time, literally every tournament I play online. I say, wait until you are under 5BB and do it with at least a A10 or connected suited or Ax suited or a PP. It only takes a few hands to go from 4BB to 25BB if you play smart.
