I prefer litter box to brain box. A brain box is a clever person but it's a kinda old term and probably British only.

Why would it have to be three? Why not four? Or two? What the spymaster is generally doing when giving an unlimited clue is telling you that your list is good while having to trade off specificity for the current clue (i.e., how many words it hits). I find it always better to guess two slam dunk words, then go to the list. There’s no reason to force it beyond that, because you can always just add what you think could be a third word to the list.
Oh well, we weren’t winning anyway.
