its really amazing that the Dems can't even beat Donald Trump. he's so easy to beat, the Dems literally helped him win his first primary

if you're a dem, all you have to do is say:

medicare for all
no to genocide
abortion
tax the wealthy
climate solutions

and you'd win like 65% of the popular vote

But people don't want those.

there are a lot of issues that are wildly popular, but ignored by Dems and repubs

in the 70s and 80s, all politicians used to campaign on education. they were all going to improve public education.

none of them ever mention that anymore, at least not like they used to

my local politicians thrive on education spending

Education gets brought up a lot. Nothing really gets done, though.

They aren't as popular as racism, xenophobia, idolization of the rich, etc.

It has been incredibly exhausting living in the center of all this. Every time I go on any social media platform, I get to see endless lies and conspiracies about the area from people unconnected to it in every way. And now this guy getting arrested for traveling (another person who doesn't live here) to chimney Rock to harass FEMA. These people need ****ing help, not all this bullshit. FEMA and the military are here, you can drive to the airport and see their base setup across the street. You can look up and see army helicopters CONSTANTLY throughout the day, moving supplies and running SAR. Anybody saying they aren't here helping with a major presence is sitting on their own ass, doing nothing. If they were out helping they'd see and would be working with these groups. I wish it would just stop...it's incredibly sad, traumatizing for many of us, and personally makes me feel incredibly alone.
