The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet...i'd be shocked if they lost the election now.
Just shows just how incompetent Conservatives are.
So Canada is a third world nation when it comes to medical issues?
And Montreal is denying that? Well tahts standard. He's a denier of everything.

Well obviously we are much better then a third world country and much better then The US if you are considered poor .
Washoe you are a denier of reality ….
You are one of the rare that has even less reliable talking point then lozen ..

Sadly you just don’t know how bad the healthcare issue is. I have been in BC almost two years and have been told I’ll be lucky to find a family doctor at all . The bylaw officer I spoke to waited 5 years
As for Alberta sadly my brother needed a ambulance last year and the fire truck was there in 5 minutes the ambulance 3.5 hours as they were overwhelmed with fentanyl overdoses
Consider yourself lucky

I am lucky .
Quebec is a great place to live .
But remember I live in hell because I pay more taxes here …..
So I’m not that lucky right ?
And it’s just a cycle .
Like home prices or w.e else it will fix itself when proper management and cash will be allocated to it .
But the main point , it’s far from perfect but for a vast amount of people better to wait then not have access like in the US .

Ya this, anyone who thinks Canada has good healthcare hasn't been in or had a family member needing actually healthcare in the last few years. Anyone I know who can afford it travels to the US for treatment.

That’s the kicker isn’t .
Anyone can get everything if they can afford it .
Look how great Indians are for coming here to study and pay like 25k per year.
I think the better point would you rather have the US system instead of the Canadian system ?
Again think how great US is if you CANT afford it ….
Ps: it’s ironic coming from someone out of Alberta complain about healthcare and always wants lower taxes when it’s already the lowest in Canada …..
I guess some argues healthcare should be given by slaves.
Population of Canada was 25 million in 1984 , today it’s 39 millions .
I don’t see what is the big fuss of having an increase of government workers.
Pretty normal shrug .
Unless you don’t want services .
How are you this bad at looking at graphs and understanding them?
1984 Population 25M - 250K federal workers
2015 Population 35M - 255K federal workers
40 years and barely any upward movement in federal worker count.
2024 Population 41M - 360K federal workers
"Pretty normal" - lmfao

Well maybe 2015 wasn’t normal with poor services from the federal .
I remember harper years .
Did you ever actually try federal services and wait for hours on the phone or wait months for papers to arrives at your house or wait years for a case to be solved involving the federal ?
One friend I have been waiting for over a year for its citizenship ceremony for example .
Services from the federal are not great at all .
This is a close as it gets in BC!
What does this include, like is it nurses and teachers and police etc? Because we just saw a chart showing 360,000 federal workers which isn’t the same number.
ya those are government jobs. Ya I have been on a waitlist for a family doctor for like 7 years since he retired. Also probably not a coincident I have not been to the doctor since XD

ya my uncle/ aunt who are pretty well off but not super rich maybe both 100k a year government jobs had to pretty much spend all their income for a decade to spend on us medical fees

Strange .
Usually doctors retiring should refer you to other doctors .
Which province ? West center or east ?
didn't bother i was young. Northern Ontario no doctors want to come here. . friend also moved to the town next over 50 min drive and had to get a new doctor and is on the same list for the same amount of time

Maybe so. But only a tiny percentage of Canadians actually get medical care in all countries outside of Canada:
I know wait times for hips are long. But say when I had cancer my surgeries and radiation etc all gets triaged and in fact with super quick and efficient and cost nothing.
well ya of course it would be low. the odds of needing life saving procedures are low especially outside of the routine stuff like chemo. the 1.8% actually seems kinda high to me because you have to be
1. dying or have a life crippling condition that you cant wait for or trust lower tier doctors.
2. rich
whats that like 3-4% of people?
that's probably pretty reasonably close to the 1.8% that are going to the united states. without context the 1.8% means nothing and its a surprisingly high number so your point kind of backfired with me. no one was suggesting people are going to the us for the cold or strip throat

I am glad you received timely care but being in BC just watching the news you know there are horror stories on the other side were folks cant get referred to an oncologist and some heading to the USA for treatment if they can afford it
If you need a knee replacement or hip waiting lists are in the years. I know two individuals in Alberta that have been waiting over two years

No, the number was not percentage of PEOPLE it was percentage of PATIENTS. As in, for each speciality, the overwhelming majority of people needing that specialty do it in Canada.

But that’s sort of my point, the horror stories are the exception. I know hips and knees are long wait times, but also those are just non-urgent procedures and are precisely why they are second on the list of procedures people might pay to go to the US for. That’s in contrast to high triaged things like my cancer where nope it is lightening quick and the system works when it needs to for the most part.

Sad reality is cancer is on the rise . Take myself I always get a physical every year. Explain to me how I can do that when I can not find a doctor?

Have you looked into nurse practitioners? BC has greatly expanded their prominence (they are much more highly trained than registered nurse) so that’s what we do for our family. She works in a practice so if there is some higher need we have access to a family physician but all our medications and physicals etc the NP does and is amazing.
