It's impossible to speak your mind in this day and age. People are becoming more and more emotionally fragile. Society is becoming more fake in order to coddle the weak. I got a 3 day ban for saying something that is 100% correct. Somehow it was deemed "harmful". Harmful to who? Are people really this easily offended? Do people really contact the MOD's because they got their fe

it is possible in various places, just not in left-majority ones.

"Coddling the weak" includes the feeble-minded, so you should probably be pretty grateful for society doing that.

Meanwhile, if you put β€œcisgender” in a tweet, musk set it to auto-hide your tweet for hate speech

Typical. Make a mess of things, find an excuse to ban a valued poster and then immediately decide not to address it any longer. Next will be deleting posts and/or locking threads.

Just nut low excuse for moderation.

Anyway, I’ve explained as much as I’m going to about this. Hopefully we can revisit it in the future with better results.

I get that you don't like the modding here, but can you stop making **** up? Pretty clear reasons were given for why the poster was banned, the poster himself expected to be banned for his actions and said so to a number of people, so how the **** is that "finding an excuse"?

As always, posting as a poster here, not a mod:

free rafiki. He's been a good poster since 2006.

He was clearly very insulted over this, and while it's easy to say "take it easy", if you've read his posts itt then it should be clear that this is not a subject where anyone should be expected to take it easy.

At the very least just exile him from politics.

It's impossible to speak your mind in this day and age.

During which age precisely was it easier for people to speak their minds?

I understand the mere existence of a single non niche place where it's ok to be right-wing is absurd for you and it feels the same for us having lived in a left-controlled landscape for so long.

Of course I will think about it, especially given his long history here. I’m certain there is an element of misunderstanding to this whole thing, but, at the same time, it’s not acceptable to take those emotions out on me, or anyone for that matter, the way he did.

if they hold what are now by some considered "far right" ideas that were super-majoritarian almost everywhere for most of recorded history, I'd say almost everywhere?

And ftr, making a joke that he’s sharing his account with Mets in no way warrants the extreme reaction. If I’ve messed up and you want to talk about it respectfully, I am always open to that. But the way I was approached privately was in no way acceptable.

Can we at least unban Mets to help add another Zionist back into the mix?

Ah yes, human history is well known for tolerance to people speaking out against those in power. Or did you mean was OK to "speak your mind", as long as what you said met with approval from the ruling regime?

I guess you better start swimmin’ or you’ll sink like a stone πŸ˜€

I was actually hoping it would time for something like that but without speaking to him, I can’t really just do it… We kinda need to have a meeting of minds. But I’m open to it?

I'm pretty sure they murdered fascist dipshits back in Grandpa's day. So much for the tolerant left!

I agree. I don't see any of the conversation except for an appeal for people to apologize when they are wrong in the IP thread, so I don't know exactly what was said, but a perma seems excessive.

Claim: it’s possible to speak your mind in places that are not left-wing

Counter-claim: twitter, a right-wing platform, banned the word cisgender

Revised claim pretending to be the original claim: I meant speak your mind about being far-right wing

Ok gotchya so you weren’t talking about free speech but being far-right. Unless the only speech you care about is far right speech?

He’s the one who brought up a permaban in the PMs, not me. It was a suicide by cop. I don’t “negotiate with terrorists”, as they say.

Not defending his reaction, but this doesn't capture the situation.

my claim was always that it's possible to speak your mind as a right-wing person, in places that are not left-majoritarian.

I do prefer actual free speech, but I don't make the rules. and btw even censoring "cisgender" doesn't come close to what the left censors, not even vaguely, not by a thousands of miles.

in order to come close people should get banned for racism if they support affirmative action, and stuff like that (which I don't think will happen on twitter or elsewhere)

by Bluegrassplayer m

Not defending his reaction, but this doesn't capture the situation.

Once I said it wasn’t serious, which I did immediately, that should have been enough.

If he felt he was owed an apology, that could have been achieved without the weird extortion attempt and slander campaign. That’s just not how this works, friend, and I am *very* certain that if a user messaged you the way I was messaged, you would not take it well.

by Crossnerd m

Typically the cop doesn't instigate in a suicide by cop scenario, even as minor as making the joke you made.

when jbouton gained access to the mod forum and made benign allusions to it, the same people defending rafki were vociferous in their desire to permaban him. when rafki gained unauthorized access through whatever means and made what seems to be legitimate threats the same people voice their support for him.

They were in here first accusing me of the usual biased moderation and malfeasances. Not sure how I instigated that.

I didn’t think responding somewhat in kind would lead to a complete meltdown from a normally rational poster.
