Ja Mahn all da money go in da pot!

Ja Mahn all da money go in da pot!

1/3 NLHE 9 handed

Table is a typical loose passive lineup and we've had a rough night, our AKss got wrecked by a 80% vpiping whale who shoved 99 pre, we ran it twice and lost both runouts. We have 350$ and can't seem to make a hand. SB.

V - loose passive Jamaican player, comes to the room sometimes. Calls 15 pre with hands like A5o, pure valuetown exploit. Betting range is quite strong but also stabs when checked to. Thinks top pair is a massive hand. His 3-bet range is AA KK exclusive. Covers BB.

---

Folds to LJ fish who opens 10 thinking straddle is on and wanted to limp, folds to H in SB who sees A J and goes 45, V unexpectedly flats BB, fish folds. HU OOP.

Flop 100 (~300 back) - A 9 2

H checks, V bets 50, H calls

Turn 200 (250 back) - Q

H checks, V bets 75 says "all money going in ehh?", H calls

River 350 (175 back) - 2

H checks, V AI, H ....

The titles are just gonna keep getting worse until the mods intervene, aren’t they?

"I may be from KINGStown, Mon, but I've got AQ."

I'm cool with preflop.

SPR is 3 against a loose player and we have TPokK so I'd consider myself committed (although somewhat uncomfortably with this hand again most, but not as much him). Board is drawless and he can be stabby so I'm fine with a check/call on the flop.

Fine with another check on the turn and now I think I just get the rest in (fearing he'll check back mediocre and we miss value from those, and unlikely to barrel air). As I say, at this SPR we're just committed against this guy.

Gross river as now we're just chopping with Ax but I doubt we can fold. I think at these stacks it is a bit of a cooler if we're behind this guy preflop thanks to going after the mistake raise.

ETA: Lol @ AF. 😀

Bet + speech = what AF wrote. Fold turn.

I'm good with calling down here. I don't see how we can fold turn when he bets $75 into $200 and our hand is pretty under-repped. The river sucks (since I expect stuff like A5 to check back a lot) but it's half pot so we don't need to be good very often and we're against a loose guy who overvalues top pair.

In the future, say "Yes" OTT, and shove.

I mean I've seen the results, but...

I don't think flop x/c is that good ... V should check behind with worse so often after you x/c flop, getting two free cards and if he hits two pair or backdoor whatever you'll never know and can't fold.
If he really can have A5 and is going to bet turn again with A5 he's not folding flop with it either when you make it 125 or whatever.
Or to put it another way, if only 50 is going in on the flop I think it's a lot better if hero bets it.

Speech is pretty bad on the turn but I'm not sure I can find the fold at any point, and given the read maybe he does it with A5 thinking you have KK.

Why are you revealing the results so soon? Is this the first hand you post here?

It’s a bluff catch by the river and you shouldn’t bluff catch when:

1) Villain gives a speech

2) Facing a triple barrel from someone with this description: “Betting range is quite strong but also stabs when checked to.”

Aight, I admit I saw results already, but...

I think we can probably find a fold on the turn. As you said, it's surprising he cold called our 3B pre. He probably doesn't have a 4B range, so his flop bet for 1/2 pot followed by the turn barrel for less than half pot, while giving the speech, seems like he isn't just making a play for the pot, and actually has a hand that can beat TPTK, which we don't even beat.

Yes sorry, new here

Given description he wouldn’t 4b hands like AQ AK QQ which would be a lot of his cold call / bet / bet range. Is he really gonna play JJ like this? I think turn is a fold.

The only reason I check the flop is to check/raise.

Interesting newt. I felt my hand wasn't strong enough to x/r but too strong to fold. I didnt really want to play for stacks and by the river I felt I was chopping at best but didnt really see how to lose less money. But I was also a little tilted at this point in the night so I'm wondering if that played into it.

It seems really difficult to play against a loose/passive whose betting range is quite strong but also stabs when checked to.

That said, once they shove I think you are toast.
