2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
Any ideas who Mathematical Dick was? I suspect it was the alt of someone from SMP but I don't know them well enough to recognise style or whatnot.
Sorry - totally unrelated to the post I quoted, just saw you posting and remembered I'd meant to ask you.
It was definitely a gimmick. That’s all I know lol.
Ah the "mostly peaceful" theory of abortion after the first trimester sure.
Try to reverse it: If it's such a tiny number , what would the problem be banning them?
And no 12-15weeks DECIDED STATE BY STATE isn't what you essentially had, which was an usurpation of state rights by SCOTUS, predicated on fantasies about the penumbra.
The radical minority who want strict abortion bans , as it is rightly the case in a democracy, lost except where it is actually a majority, and that's how things should be
What % of republicans do you think are going to allow themselves to be bound by the laws of their home state when they find themselves in situations that run contrary to what they want/can afford to travel elsewhere? Conservatives have been having abortions in massive numbers our entire lives--there's no reason to believe many are going to follow the law at home when they know they can go next door and get it done. Just as easy as going across state lines to buy fireworks or weed 😀 The entire project has been a sick joke--morals lol
Because most people agree with the reasonable exceptions thing and for the reasons they exist--outright bans in those scenarios are just cruel. I mean I assume you're framing that as a hypothetical but apparently anything is possible once we jump in the broken italian translator machine 😀

The laws of your own state don't bound you morally, you can move and act elsewhere where it is legal, which is the main point to not give a **** individually about roe v Wade reversal.
If you can have your wife, gf or daughter abort if needed, why the hell do you care to begin with?
Conservatives (according to Grindr stats at least) also have more gay people at the RNC that at the DNC, and?
Not sure what you think I am framing as an hypothetical.
But so many people are exceptionally lazy. Incredibly so. And if their laziness can be used to have one more american is that so bad?
Yes giving ANY legal power to physicians is horrifically bad and worse than giving it to a state agency, which is already insanely bad of an option.
No power should reside in any entity that isn't directly controlled by the vote, for small gvmnt people.
Otherwise it grows indefinitely as all "independent" power sources do every single time.
The chief of the police? Every 4/5 years (depending on your jurisdiction frequency of vote) and/or the mayor (or interior ministry representative for the city depending on arrangements) is personally (and legally) responsible for it.
Does that seem like something not subject to the will of voters like the opinion of physicians?
Employees in public agencies should ALL be fire able at will, at the will of the elected representative of course, no way to fix a public body if you can't reshuffle employees.

There are tons of people in this country that barely ever leave the zip code where they were raised. Much less the county or state lol largely but not entirely for financial reasons. Lots of people are essentially trapped where they live--kinda like you except it's girls doing it in your case apparently 😀
Just go to a different state is a privileged take for sure.
It's especially stupid when conservatives want to track that and punish them if they leave pregnant and come back not pregnant.
Definitely don’t want the state to have power to tell me how I can or can’t treat conditions as a patient…unless you reallly believe in small government then obviously it’s ultimately voters decision and not mine lol. We really need a better class of conservatives here.
There were some wins and some draws. I made a point to sacrifice the exchange in most of the games, with mixed results. Particularly mixed when I hung my other rook. But I think the reason you might not see tilt boy posting for a while is that in the last game I totally ****ed up and hung like all my pieces and he probably had like a mate on 5 or something, and I tricked him into a perpetual and got a draw. That last
game is going to keep me laughing all winter.
2.5 wins to 1.5 with D2 winning.
My kids play around on that account as well and i kind of felt a little bad when i pulled off a win - because i was rated 700 and i took a shitload of points off of him - although im not that much beyter than that.
I was mostly happy with how i played but i definitely ****ed up that laat game.
We will play again. I wanted to get back into it

Their body their choice.

FTR, I could not care less about my rating, I guess the only reason to care about it is to get matched with similar level opponents when I play randoms.

Conservative lawmakers are threatening to enact a nationwide ban on abortion should they win decisively in November, and they’re doing their best in the interim to make it harder for people to end pregnancies even in states where it’s still lawful to do so.
One target is travel between states that have made abortion mostly illegal Â…
Ending that travel is essential to the goal of eliminating abortion nationwide, said David S. Cohen, a professor at Drexel UniversityÂ’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law, who has a law review article on abortion travel bans.
There are no state laws that explicitly prohibit people from traveling from one state to another for that purpose, and people on both sides of the issue agree that a travel ban probably would be unconstitutional. But some anti-abortion states are experimenting with measures that could have the same effect, like laws that prohibit “trafficking” minors for abortion.
Constitutional questions aside, some states are now using other means to isolate and intimidate pregnant people to prevent them from going out of state for abortion care, according to Jamila Johnson, senior counsel at the Lawyering Project, a nonprofit group that advocates for reproductive rights.
For example, Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R) threatened to use the state’s criminal conspiracy law to prosecute women who want to end pregnancies outside the state, along with people who help them. Judge Myron H. Thompson, of the US District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, allowed two of these “helper” groups to proceed with a lawsuit meant to stop Marshall from using the threat of prosecution as a de facto travel ban.
Marshall, however, has already accomplished his goal of “chilling” abortion advocacy in the state, Johnson said. The Alabama groups stopped helping pregnant women, she said.
So far, Idaho is the only state to have enacted an anti-abortion trafficking law, but Tennessee lawmakers adopted a similar statute in early May thatÂ’s been sent to Gov. Bill Lee (R) for his signature. These laws prohibit adults from recruiting, harboring, or transporting minors for abortions with the specific intent to conceal it from their parents.
Duran said sheÂ’d like to see them catch on in other states. Bills were introduced in Alabama and Oklahoma this year but didnÂ’t advance.
Restrictions on minors, however, are often a starting point for states, Duane said. Laws aimed at interfering with minors’ abortion travel likely are just a “test run” for laws that prohibit helping adults, Johnson added
Legal developments in Texas aimed at making people believe that theyÂ’ll be risking liability if they have or help facilitate out-of-state abortions include using an unusual procedural tactic known as a Rule 202 petition, Duane said. That allows potential litigants to get information before filing a lawsuit, she said.
Attempts to sue people from moving out of state to have an abortion (or to smoke cannabis, or to get employment in right-to-work states and so on) are fully unconstitutional and SCOTUS will piss over the head of republican states that will try to implement anything of the sort.
Especially this SCOTUS.
So have no fear.
For minors there are different considerations, and that's true for all topics.

Yes because powerful lobbies for example can’t never easily buy state officials to fire workers agencies hindering corporate lobbies goals ?
Not hard to find situations to show this as being such a bad idea ….fire people at will .
Why anyone competent would ever want to work in a place where he can be fire on the doot, based on political affiliation/ideology and not based on pure skills or competence ?

If you are a powerful lobby , it means you are a relevant part of society (definitionally) so in a democracy you deserve to have power.
Why competent people would ever want to work where they can be fired at will? all the best sectors of the economy have those rules lol. You think you can stay at amazon if the manager hates you?
Political affiliation in agencies that act politically IS SKILL. Your political attitude IS WHAT MATTERS when you have the power to decide who to sue for example.

Maybe you're congenitally incapable of understanding this, but some people care about other people even if they aren't closely related to them. Not everyone can easily move somewhere and Trumpy people have made it a crime to help someone travel for an abortion.

The bold will be destroyed in court , but yes it was a bad, violent, obscene attempt to violate the constitution.
Your faith in the Supreme Court is...we'll call it bold. You also seem very willing to just call it bad and then move on from it rather than it leaving any kind of mark on the party/movement as an indication of ill-intent (which seems to be the opposite of how you treat anything you perceive as "anti-democratic" by other parties.
More of why I don't trust these prediction sites right now. Here's 538, who gives Trump a slight advantage to win in Pennsylvania. Here is a list of polls specifically for Pennsylvania that were used to reach this conclusion:
I have highlighted in red the OBVIOUS problematic polls. The ones with red diamonds are conservative-funded. The ones without but still highlighted are opt-in internet polls which can easily be skewed by link sharing.
Every one of those favors Trump. If you remove those the remaining polls are +14 for Harris in total and +3 for Trump in total.
It's the same nationally and in other swing states. Biased polls have flooded these sites for the past month. We knew it was coming and then we act baffled that it's happening. It's not even hard to spot.

Some local representatives can be very evil. It happens with the republican party, it happens with the democratic party (a lot more, as usual , given the democratic party is a lot more evil).
Defund the police was infinitely worse than what republicans do with abortion (even a complete ban no exception isnt' a top 50 priority for society, like not even remotely close). But Biden didn't endorse that so i never used that against Biden.
Allowing schools to be closed longer than absolutely necessary for COVID was worse than anything the republican party did for example.
I go against the democratic party more because it is objectively infinitely worse than the republican party. Not even remotely close, measurably, for what matters to me.
Normal people never need an abortion to begin with. IT can very very rarely happen if you **** up or are exceptionally unlucky. In that case you do what's necessary to fix. It's far less relevant than 2% of sales taxes, or payroll taxes.
Even if republicans behave beyond horribly on that topic, given it's an insignificant topic far below most other topics for me, why would i spend time and effort to discuss it too much?

lol thank you for proving my point
What do you think the defund the police movement was about?
Allowing schools to be closed longer than absolutely necessary for COVID was worse than anything the republican party did for example.
You are clueless about covid and policy as has been amply demonstrated over the years. Your opinion on this subject is absolutely irrelevant.
I go against the democratic party more because it is objectively infinitely worse than the republican party. Not even remotely close, measurably, for what matters to me.
And yet there's nothing at all to suggest this and tons to suggest the opposite.
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. This is one of the most disgustingly ignorant things I've read on here in a long time. Maybe you don't mean to say anyone getting an abortion is abnormal. Do you want to, at the very least, try to rephrase this, or is this what you mean? Not that you will make this statement true by rephrasing it, but you might not come off so terribly.
Ye gorgo keep defending keeping schools closed for longer than all other first world countries even after vaccination was available, try this during this election cycle, gonna work wonders to convince the undecided.
One in 4 women is expected to have an abortion in their life, so that's 1/8 people, meaning 7/8 people never need that, and among that 1/8 some are the exceptions allowed in all jurisdictions, some in most jurisdictions and so on.
So the affected people are less than 1/10 of the population, unlike sale taxes that hit you and every single other individual in the country several times per month for the entirety of your life.
