My poker journey began in 2012. I played freerolls and microlimits on PS. At that time I was 17 years old.
I've tried many disciplines, but played the main distance in 6max holdem.
By 2017 I had reached NL50 and played several million hands of zoom with WR of ~4-5 evbb/100.
Later PokerStars added SD and then GG, I started grinding it.
After playing ~100k hands on GG, in 2021 I won online WSOP $5k ShortDeck.
(total winnings in only SD tours amounted to more than $200k).

I play very few of it nowadays, but remember the daily swings of plus or minus 40 stacks from the old days, when germans still got rakeback on PS.

I want to learn short deck but don’t really know where to start. Based on my research I am under the impression that short deck may be more profitable than Hold Em at higher stakes due to the edge over the current environment that attracts VIP players. Is this accurate?

if you compare profitability, i don't know. shortdeck is more dynamic.
start with the basics and practice a lot. you need to know the tendencies of your limit and exploit them.
highstakes has a small player pool and you often play against specific people and your history with them.
you need to think only 1 level above your opponent (not 2 or 3), otherwise you will trap yourself.
to play A500 you need 2.5m$+ free funds. while if you have 2.5m$ you don't need poker.
but if you say - "NO GAMBLE NO FUTURE" , I will say 100% agree.

Discipline is training your mind not to give a shi't if it's hard, or it hurts, or it sucks. if it needs to get done. it gets done.
time and consistency is a powerful combination.
because the passing of time is already an absolute,
and now its up to you to do a little bit everyday,
just understand doing a little bit is not hard,
but you gotta do it everyday that's the hard part.
and whether you choose to do it or not,

just get back on track and be more disciplined. we fall short at times, but we should bounce back at each time.
overthinking is the biggest waste of human energy. trust yourself, make a decision, and gain more experience.

get back into it, whatever it is; the gym, your art, your business, that book you haven't finished, that project you shelved.

I mean you said Stefan is fundamental genius but his plays often are more wild and different than fundamental poker
You list famous names but i dont think they are actually close to who are top crushers atm like Linus Malinowski and others those old famous names aren’t as good as you may think anymore
About discipline yes i agree, it can be one of key ingredients to success but only discipline without proper game strategy also can’t magically make you successful
