British Politics
Been on holiday for a few weeks, surprised to find no general discussion of British politics so though I'd kick one off.
Tory leadership contest is quickly turning into farce. Trump has backed Boris, which should be reason enough for anyone with half a brain to exclude him.
Of the other candidates Rory Stewart looks the best of the outsiders. Surprised to see Cleverly and Javid not further up the betting, but not sure the Tory membership are ready for a brown PM.

Regarding the LD leadership contest, Jo Swinson is miles ahead of any other candidate (and indeed any of the Tory lot). Should be a shoe in.
Finally, it's Groundhog Day in Labour - the more serious the anti-Semitism claims get, the more Corbyn's cronies write their own obituary by blaming it on outlandish conspiracy theories - this week, it's apparently the Jewish Embassy's fault...
Imagine that...
Imagine the racists turning up itt now to make political capital out of a tragedy, just as they tried in the riots.
Perhaps I should post images of all the white Britons who've killed immigrants over the last few years.

If you think it equates to British children being murdered by a radicalised immigrant using a textbook provided by a terrorist organisation, and people shouldn't be bothered by that distinction, and calling them racists if they are...
then go ahead, see if it's a good look for you.
Also... you do know talking about people making some sort of 'I win' points out of a tragedy works both ways, right?
Turns out if it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck…
This is terrible

Not sure images are needed, but please put the number of immigrants killed by white britons , then we compare the reverse weighting for population numbers and we see what's up and which group if any kills more people of the other group, proportionally to the populations.

Maybe you should also post images of all the racist posts you've had deleted from the Palestine/Israel thread before throwing stones here.

I think a death is a death and all are tragedies. I also know that the number of people killed by terrorists in the UK is very small compared to other killings, but that the far right love to try to create a national emergency from isolated incidents, hoping to incite the type of violence we saw in the riots. And I know you know this too.
Another trick from the far right playbook - if you accuse them of making political capital out of atrocities they turn around and say you've just done the same. Don't be that guy.

I've had no racist posts deleted from anywhere.
But funny how all of a sudden, despite trumpeting your proud "ignore list" to the forum, you claim you can read my posts. LOL
'Tommy Robinson', whose supporters flooded Whitehall at the weekend for some reason, has got 18 months after admitting contempt of court. He will face terrorism charges in November for failing to unlock his phone when requested by police.
"Robinson" is attracting a lot of flak from his former supporters now, who've finally cottoned on that he's only in it now for the grift. Before his court case he was fund raising for months to "defend himself in court" but instead of doing that he admitted contempt of court and will probably be out in seven months or so with a large wad of cash.

How many isolated incidents can happen of people found guilty of acts of Islamic terrorism before it's not isolated incidents anymore?
Try to think if it was white suprematist terror, how many white supremacists stabbing immigrants or going over them with cars or bombing mosques and so on would you wait for before claiming there was a white supremacists terrorism problem?
You can compare the numbers yourself.
I did weighting for the population and it's not even remotely close? if all groups commited acts of terrorism against other ethnical/religious groups with the same frequency you would have 13.5x acts of terrorism of whites against muslim than viceversa (in the UK), do you follow that logic?
You need 13 bombs to large muslim gatherings by whites to just break even with the ariana grande concert. 90 stabbings of muslims by whites to just make even with the london bridge stabbings.
Did that happen?
Where's your count of the attacks on immigrants by Britons?

Lol, you were the one that started up the pushing a narrative that equated one atrocity as an equivalence to another.
Notes to self: 'Jalfrezi happy to use trick from the far right playbook'
Jesus ****ing Christ that increase in employer's NI, they really do hate business, don't they?

Go back and read again.
Elrazor posted that because the perp looked as terrorists look in his feverish nightmares (ie brown skinned) it's not surprising that he turned out to be a terrorist (though as yet there's no proof he was anything other than a lone actor).
That's called making political capital out of an atrocity.

Using an atrocity to make political capital is called 'making political capital out of an atrocity'. You know, that thing you did that you're happily accusing others of.
Put your far right playbook away. You were so much nicer without it.
current rumours for the labour budget are
tax relief on pension contributions will be left alone after all - too complicated to implement and a change would smash GPs
osbourne's pension tax-free lump sum at 55 (soon to be 57) will be at least halved
capital gains will increase a bit, but will remain lower than income
undrawn pension pots at death will be subject to IHT
a few of the IHT reliefs will disappear or be nerfed. farmers are going to get ****ed
PE execs will have to pay a bit more up front fo
all of this, except they kicked the carry can down the road by adding a fairly meager 4 percentage points and talking about legislative changes in 2026, and the pension tax free lump sum was left alone which i think is good
farmers ****ed
missed ER NI increase, and BADR being nerfed. BADR is a relatively obscure relief which most people dont know about or care about, but c.100k people in the country, mostly upper middle class types, will currently be losing their **** over that one
Can't say I like the look of that. Labour MPs elected for rural areas, and nowadays there are some, may be a bit queasy as well. Celebrity farmer Clarkson says not to worry because the way they're going the government is certain to be out in five years' time. But he may have forgotten Harold Wilson's dictum that even a week is a long time in politics.

Small businesses, which means most businesses, are not liking the Employers' NI raise. But it all depends whether the Budget improves the government's finances. I suppose we'll know in a bit.
An economist on Radio 4 yesterday evening said he would have just preferred a 2p rise on income tax - more certain of collecting, more people pay it, etc.
Don't hate tax rises per se if public services are going to be improved, but not sure this budget will raise what they think it will, and might harm growth.
