2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
With "backbone" you just mean "they help democrats win elections".
That's why you are happy
Why wouldn't democrats be happy when Republicans help them win elections?
We are also impressed that she's choosing to value the good of the country over her party. She's still a terrible person in regards to the way she votes in the majority of cases.
I think it was a stutter of some kind

You are 100% wrong. If their opposition had somehow resulted in the decline of Trumpism and someone other than Trump being the nominee, I would have been happy, even though it probably would have improved the GOP's chances in this presidential election.
I have said consistently in this forum that I want to see each party nominate the best possible candidate.
And I have repeatedly criticized Democratic groups for running ads in GOP primaries that nominally support crazy MAGA candidates. That's abhorrent, even if you believe that the MAGA person will be easier to beat in the general election.

They can be happy, but lol at pretending it's about "moral character" or anything else. If they helped the democratic party lying 24/7 they would be praised as heroes anyway, like the Lincoln project is.
There is nothing about the "good of the country" at any step in the mind of any of the participants. She thinks she can personally gain more doing that , than doing otherwise.
Stop.
Pretending.
Any single politician is anything but a fully selfish rational individual who would slith your throat while smiling if it helped him win election.
Re "why do republicans think something smells badly about mail voting", just check the legal insanity going on in PA about the legality of misdated mail votes and whatnot

It's actually incredibly there is any aspect of voting procedures that isn't 100% crystal clear settled law with absolutely no gray area even imaginable.
I don't have any personal opinion on the techicalities other than they should all have been solved definitely years ago and absolutely nothing should even be borderline unclear at this stage.
have you ever thought you might watch too much fox news because your brain is rotting.
Why would anyone wanna watch MSM propaganda? They're controlled just as much as CNN. That's why they fired Tucker which was part of the settlement with dominion. Talk about a possible computer changing votes and get disbarred, sued and cancelled. That's how control works. Fox news is an obident puppet for the deep state as they all are (they don't call TV "programming" just for the hell of it).

This would have been far less impressive, although still a positive thing. With the current state of affairs, anyone going against their party is commendable, and this is especially true of Trump, who essentially wages war on anyone who does. Commending anyone who is willing to stand up for what they believe is right, even if you don't agree with their politics, is extremely important.
What's being used to attack you is a "guilt by association" ad hominem. Defending against perceived sexism and attacks on someone's physical appearance is important, and liking the person who is being attacked isn’t a requirement to uphold this. Attempting to rephrase this as you defending the character of these people is a way to distract from the sexism and personal attacks and put the guilt back on you. It’s extremely frustrating, but a common tactic in this sub.

BGP, Liz cheney gambled going all in against Trump after Jan 6 under the possibility that Jan 6 meant his (trump) end, to then come out from the post trump ashes as one of the leader of GOP.
After Trump didn't disappear from the scene she was 100% burnt and with 0 hopes possible staying within the goo so she did the only rational thing, double up against him write a book and try to cash in from the anti-Trump center right niche.
It was political calculus (and later "I have to pay the bills and retire as anyone else") calculus all the way through, there was never even a second for any moral considerations at any step.

I’m pretty sure the Cheneys are already incredibly rich, not sure what you’re talking about. Also with her insider experience if it was all about money she could have made tons as a consultant or a lobbyist or on the board of directors. This is a really convoluted way to do it.
A lot of this is a bit off, but the important thing is here:
She didn't need to do this. She had seen what happened to people who did this befoe. She likely could have asked for forgiveness the way that others had. She could have done something other than this and continued her political career.

She did if she wanted real power, she had no way to rise inside trump GOP with a neocon name and legacy.
Too many other people with "clean" nativist, isolationist and so on track records had been boot licking Trump enough to leave 0 space for Cheney.
She could have continued in insignificance but she eyed a chance for a lot more, to become a prime power broker in one of the only 2 relevant parties in the USA, and she gambled on that.

No you stop ….
It’s not because far right has no ethics and moral compass like maga and trump everyone are like that too .
So no you are wrong !
And just seeing how Biden isn’t pardoning his own son should make you start thinking about it while trump pardon everyone that kneel to him …

or the other option is that although she has terrible politics otherwise, she actually doesn’t want our country to be run by a wannabe dictator. it’s a marriage of convenience not a love affair.

She's 58, by today's standards she has at least another 70 years in the government. It would have been easy to wait this out like so many of the Republicans are doing. It would have been safer, and far better for her career and that's not results oriented thinking.
You are 100% assuming what her motivations were, and that is completely speculative opinion on your part. You're also ignoring the fact that she placed herself in a position where she couldn't thrive under Trump. The argument has also become a strawman from the original point.

+1
Pence do not have great politics but he got ethics .
That is what MAGA seem to forget ….
Some decent ethical in character did exist while being Republican before today .
