POG Politics Thread Version 3
Come on in! Since Dustin is taking his ball and going home, it's time to start a new politics thread.
not that we've out-grown our union, just our model for it
for example, folks in the heartland really are not interested in their resources being distributed to distant metropolises
a regionalized administrative scheme, like the one used for the federal judiciary, would create a cleaner/truer social distribution for respective groupings, with a top-federal level available to resolve differences between regions
a regional-level legislative body would determine which pursuits it desired from the gross funds allocated by the national legislature, and the national legislature would otherwise work towards establishing large-scale programs that the regional groups would ideally want to opt into (for greater economy of scale)

Nah, federalism and states rights are already headed for the dustbin of history, we need the dictatorship of the proletariat.

As Zizek said, it's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.
That's why I'm a rabid AI Accelerationist. It's the only positive outcome of Capitalism, and Capitalism is the only way to realize AI. QED.
We're headed for ultranationalist fascist end stage capitalist hyper-exploitation while everything burns. The only human engine left for global revolution is Africa, and their few real leaders die young.
Have a nice day!
global revolution is inevitable, one way or another.

Tonight, I had dinner next to Elizabeth Warren. I'm not sure why she was eating at an Orange County, CA fish restaurant when she is up for reelection on Tuesday. But wow.
How dare she! Eating? A few days before an election she will easily win?? This is disqualifying, she should be barred from office.
she should be barred from office. they all should
Democracy manifest!
A+ entertainment
I wish they'd have a UFC match

I think Nate Silver and 538 say Harris by a nose. Polls are all over the place and LOL polls in 2024 anyway. It's going to come down to who turns out.
Nate Silver etc aren't even polls, they're statistical models. There may be polling data involved, but everything is so heavily weighted it's more like astrology than science.
Ann Selzer is a pollster. She just polls and publishes.
