Thanksgiving 2024

Thanksgiving 2024

Any buffet reccos? Leaning towards Caesars with my $100 annual food comp.

Also, the F1 race is the Saturday before T-day. Anyone remember how many days after the race until the roads were almost back to normal? I want to come into town a few days early, but I would think everything will still be screwed up for awhile.

bacchanals is a good bet... get your reservation in early.
roads are iffy for about a week... but they begin getting SLIGHTLY better the day after and continue to get better every day, but don't expect normal.

Thanks, appreciate it. I plan to stay in a hotel "outside" of the track in hopes that traffic will only be a little worse than normal. I was in town last September, and it was near impossible to get anywhere in the Koval area in less than an hour.

Thanks for this. I was wondering about traffic, too. Will get in on Nov. 30, so seems as if we should be OK.

The best buffet I've had in Vegas was the Wicked Spoon (Cosmopolitan), but it's been years since I've done a buffet.

If he's got the diamond dinner he can skip the line anyway.

If you mean that I can use the ordinary Diamond line, the one time I walked by there during feeding time, there was a substantial 7 Star line too.

Well, I dawdled a bit too long in making reservations, and Bacchanal filled up. I checked a couple others, like Wynn, and they're filled up too. I've never made, or even heard of, reservations for a buffet until this thread. Does being filled up on reservations mean walk-up people have no chance of getting in?

I might just do Orleans. I've had their TDay buffet before, and it wasn't bad. My needs are simple - turkey, stuffing, taters. It could be that the expensive buffets mostly have fancier or more exotic foods, which are wasted on me on Thanksgiving.

Orleans is sans buffet....

Going with the in-laws to Laughlin (again) and the Riverside's T-day feast. Not a buffet, but turkey, ham, stuffing, tater's and all the usual fixins, reasonably priced, and they have poker and bingo on-site. It's our new tradition.

That sounds kinda good. I'm always getting free stuff offers. Are any of the CET places worth staying at?

Vegas looks like it's a short drive if I feel the need.

edit: They do have a buffet. Or are you talking about the Gourmet Room?

You should check circus circus steak house or perhaps south point steak house...

South Point also has a buffet, I might try that. Rio just sent me another email with free rooms, and they have a restaurant with a TDay special. I get to stay on the "outside" of the F1 track too.

SP buffet is reasonable... I eat there all the time because of the discounts I get. I've never done turkey day there.
You can hit up the poker room while you are there.

Yup. I like that place although I've never stayed there. They have a good theater and a good Mexican restaurant.

I had heard good things about the SP buffet. So I tried it last week. Very mediocre.

South Point might be 'the old man Coffee' of Vegas buffets, but that doesn't mean it's less than 'reasonable' or suffer from the 'below me' status. I mean it's south point for Christ's sake.
I eat it all the time.

I'm going to Vegas on vacation and hoping to live it up just a little. Maybe I'll try an actual restaurant and just order two dinners to replicate a buffet.

This may be your best post ever on 2p2. wp

stayed at the Edgewater on Tuesday night for reasons....Laughlin is depressing this time of year during the week :( like literally no one there. fwiw the Riverside Buffet is still open (and the only buffet left in Laughlin) but I saw no ads for TDay specials.

can you say what is the average buffet wait time there for non-VIPS? The few times I've been in there the last few years, the buffet line is wrapped around to at least 100+ yards behind the entrance.

On the weekends that can be normal... mainly because south point is assuming on the weekends. Doubly so when their shows and conventions are running... which is early every weekend.
During the week it's less than 5-10 minutes.

I don't know if you are a Vegas reg or big gambler but do you have a casino host? call them or just the hotel concierge and see if they have any recommendations
