Penguin (Max)

Penguin (Max)

Anyone watching this? Just starting ep 4 - it's entertaining enough, but not sure how I feel about it yet

(Then again, I loved "Gotham", so what kind of taste do I really have)

It feels like Colin Farrell is playing a bizarro version of Tony Soprano imo

I loved The Batman score. It was the best thing about it. The Penguin’s score sucks. Nepo hire

I'm loving it so far!

4 great episodes in a row. Each better than the last. Episode 4 especially being amazing with the focus in Arkham which I've always wanted to see more of in live action.

Colin deserves an Emmy nod and the lady playing Sofia... Cristin Milioti deserves to win.

She's got these huge and expressive eyes. She was great in that one Black Mirror episode. Definitely portrays mob daughter coming out of an insane Asylum type.

Not even close to a superhero show either. Pure mob stuff. Sometimes I forget it's located in a fictional city named Gotham and not NYC.

Penguin himself is a great and already memorable character. Much better adaptation over his comic/live action/animated joke counter parts. He talks his way out of seemingly everything in a believable way.

Penguin Peacemaker Watchmen (Sandman) more of shows like these please.

its hard not to see. my first impression was colin farrell playing colin quinn playing tony soprano

What else is in contention for best mini series Emmy?

Feels like Penguin could take that.

I love how **** happens in this show. One scene there's these alliances and 20 minutes later it is flipped.

I can see it based off their mannerisms but there are key differences.

They really nailed comic book Penguin's stronger traits. Underdog who's not respected, physical limitations that Penguin and others see as a weakness, reading people/manipulating them, and especially his quick thinking.

Tony becomes the boss by end of S1 so during most of The Sopranos' run, he remains the authority figure.

I enjoy how Penguin was something they called him derogatively

This show is amazing imo, didnt expect to love it this much. Just watched episode 3.
Farrel has always been a great actor and he just disappears into the role here. Cristin Milioti especially and the kid are great to

I wish I could get people to open a beer at my greatness.

Amazing speech!

Flashback was good stuff

This show is fantastic. I'm glued to the screen every episode.

Has to be the best show airing episodes now.

If there is anything better please let me know.

Really good show, but that Victor kid is annoying.

I didnt really care for Mr. Maroney dragging Penguin into his own lair, having no idea what he’d run into and Pengy isnt even zip-tied

Well that was freaking brutal as ****… Jesus Christ…. lol

Really great show! Every episode was awesome and finger crossed for a 2nd season!

Agreed, I think we'll get a season 2 due to popular demand but it'll be a while. From what I've read, the plot would be built off of the second Batman movie which isn't going to be released until 2026. I may have to go back and re-watch the first Batman movie. I thought it was fine on first viewing but the ending dragged on for too long.

Amazing and heart breaking ending.

I felt it coming but that was one of the more brutal tv deaths I've ever seen.

Love how in true to comics Penguin fashion, Oz loves to spite people till the bitter end.

Mommy didn't love me? Enjoy being a veg like I promised wouldn't happen.

And true to the comics that he's a near insane evil prick.

Impressed the show went that route ie the full no redemption possible story.

Oh Batman the movie stops being interesting when they catch The Riddler. The save Gotham at the end was standard superhero fluff.

The director said the death was because he loved his mom and that made him vulnerable. He couldn’t have that happen again.

I felt like it was because he a complete sociopath.

'The director said the death was because he loved his mom and that made him vulnerable. He couldn’t have that happen again.'

Pinguin does pretty much explained that when killing him though, and look how Sofia used his mom against him.

I admit i didnt see it coming at the end, but it does make sense. Absolutely brutal and i loved it lol

My read on that death scene was Oz did it because if he wants to get into politics, his partner in crime would have been a loose end / liability. The "I can't take you with me this time" line made me think Oz was referring to his new ambitions.

I think it's a bit of both ie not wanting someone as a disadvantage and Oz being a POS.

That was a ****ing tough death.

To be the 2nd main character, boss' right hand man, and then snuffed away.

Top ten most brutal TV deaths?

What made it so brutal is even though it seemed inevitable from early on in the show, it was still shocking and a total gut-punch when it happened.

The last couple scenes of the finale were too good, especially in terms of setting up a potential 2nd season. A letter from Selina Kyle and obvi the Bat Signal.

Also just realized Cristin Milioti had a small part in the Sopranos as one of Johnny Sack's daughters. As far as who was a better mob boss father I'd say Johnny Sack beats Carmine Falcone in a landslide.

So epic when they said Selina’s name. She’s a character from Batman oh my god, i could have creamed

I liked the gritty nature of this series. The final death showed that if your friend is a scorpion, even though you are friends, they are going to sting you at some point...it is in their nature as the parable goes.

was great

im not a Farrell fan but he certainly did a 10/10 job here the make up was 10/10 also

Spoiler
