2024 ELECTION THREAD
The next presidential race will be here soon! Please see current Bovada odds. Thoughts?
We tried to tell you there was an overlap, and you could just check agenda 47 to know what the actual project is.
Project 2025 doesn't even endorse tariffs (they have both positions listed pro and con) just to give you the idea

Lol it’s not because you HAD on project 2025 it means it’s discarded !
Will see the next steps ….
How many other stars did Harris have to pay for their endorsement?
And as this payment was not disclosed at the time it also appears to be illegal.
The link you posted is about advertisements, so I’m not sure why you think this is relevant. That we know Harris paid x amount to an Oprah company is good indication that she probably did the right disclosures.
As I mentioned the day after the election, the new Senate reality for the Democrats is quite dire. They are unlikely to get to 50 Senators for at least 10 years now that they can't compete in Florida and Ohio, and Montana and West Virginia are lost forever. They are already overperforming in purple states where either party can compete for senators. Out of the 16 from AZ, NV, PA, WI, GA, MI, NH, VA, the Dems currently have 14/16. About as good as it gets. In 2026, their "best" chances to flip anything are Maine, where Collins never loses, and North Carolina. Who's the last Democrat Senator from the Tarheel state? Edwards??? They will have to defend one from competitive NH, VA, MI, and GA. I estimate the chances of net D+4 in for the 2026 Senate at zero percent. Trump will have four years to make appointments.

I am shocked that she paid anyone . They should be doing it for free as democracy was on the line .

Thanks to Kari lake losing an easy seat in Arizona, there is this path available for democrats.
Yes it's both NC seats. But 2026 should be easy (the trump coalition collapses in non-presidential years), the challenge is 2028

@NateSilver538
So Democrats should end up with 47 Senate seats. There certainly is a path toward a majority by 2028: they need to win 3 of the following 4 races: ME 2026, NC 2026, WI 2028, NC 2028
I thought she was too young for that but it looks like she became "of age" (35) 3 weeks before the election so why not?
Please run with her as the Democratic candidate in 2028 vs Vance/Vivek ticket.
As Bill Burr said on SNL, she'd do much better at attracting votes if she dressed a little sluttier rather than following the pantsuit lead of Hillary and Kamala
That presumes GA stays 2 blue senators. Not likely. They ran two awful candidates in recent times, and in 2020, Trump sabotaged GA Republicans with all of his crying voter fraud and no need to vote plus his refusal to campaign for either of them after he had lost.
If the best chance for the Democrats is sweeping North Carolina and Maine where Collins never loses, they're in for a bad time. They're already mostly dominating the remaining purple states.
2026 is not easy. Net D+4 is likely out of the question. Even if they do in fact flip NC and ME, where else are they winning 2? Texas? We've been hearing that for literally 30 years now. South Dakota? Wyoming? ha. Kansas? maybe but not likely.

Given she has very little money (compared to big politicians) to get counsel and shape her persona, I think she has top 0.1% political skills
This was huge and for a young congressperson she got absurd amount of media coverage basically for free
And as much as people want to deride her online attempts, when she went on twitch to play among us during COVID with others that was kinda epic for Z gen people and a ton of trump leaning rightwing gamers changed their opinion on her when it happened

GA is weird because one race was auto-lost by "primary suicide" on the republican side, the other I kinda agree Trump was the cause for the loss.
If you mean that other than the listed flips they also need to keep complicated seats I agree though.
I wasn't trying to deny the Senate was going to be tough for democrats. But I think odds aren't as terrible as they look like.
I'd put it at 15% in 2028 democrats have 50+ senators

She’ll get the bernie treatment for sure. The old people in the party (who overwhelmingly make up the primary voters) are way more likely to oppose anti-establishment candidates because they follow the lead of the party elites.
And frustratingly I don’t think them losing in 2016 and 2024 is going to cause a reckoning.
If you remember Biden wanted to run in 2016 but it was “her turn” and he ended up being right that he was the only one that could defeat Trump.
I actually think because she really leverages social media just like Trump she could potentially be a good presidential candidate but she has two things she is missing: she isn’t married and she doesn’t have kids. That will probably make it hard for her to win the presidency as she fails the basic “normal person” test that I think a lot of normies apply.
She also would have to defend her early rhetoric like “abolish ice” and speaking favorably of “defund the police”, two very stupid positions.

Yes the "abolish ice" and "defund the police" takes were incredible stupid and likely prevent her from ever winning the presidential election, but so is claiming to be a "democratic socialist", fighting for free college education, a federal job guarantee and have tax payers pay off 100% of student loans.

I think calling himself a democratic socialist definitely hurt his chances. Not sure about the other stuff because most voters don’t care about super discrete policy to that degree. They just see “oh wow Bernie is fighting for me”.

She can call herself whatever she wants but she will always support funding fascists like Israel and USA police.
In 20 or 30 years she will be the next Pelosi.

Hey man, you should move somewhere with little to no police presence, it will be grand. I hear places like downtown Kingston are beautiful this time of year.
