QJ98 Vs Tilted Whale
1-2-5 plo. V came over from a broken table with 18-20K and has been very aggro, maybe 70/40, but seems competent. He is willing to gamble with short stacks and is good at getting value.
Relevant HH. The hand before hero limped on the btn with bad aces on Villain’s straddle. Flop was Ax8c3c (hero had dry Ac) and V bet hero raised V raised hero raised and 1700 went into a 40 dollar pot on the flop. Hero scooped.
This is the next hand, hero is eff stack with 3450.
Hero in HJ with QJ98ss no clubs.
Pre: 2 limps, Hero iso to 35, V in bb 3b to 120, limpers fold and hero calls

I fold for the following reasons:
1. His 3 bet range is massive and itβs possible heβs connected more than your top 2.
2. Heβs gonna barrel river and youβll be in an even bigger jam and you have small investment currently.
3. There are very few rivers we love.
4. Most important reason: heβs so spewy that there will be way better spots and no need to risk it now. Heβs got $17k and Iβd be thinking about the best spots to ship βem my way. This ainβt it.
if your super sure villain can play 70/40, then I like a raise here if we're playing poker.
However, with no reads, tilted, a few hands, fold.
Scenario 1, Raise, be prepared for a tough decision on river. 20% of time.
Scenario 2, Fold for an easy life and wait for more information. 80% of time.
What hands is he playing in position?
What hands oop?

Can you explain the thinking here please.
We donβt have any post flop reads on V, so I feel this is a punt and hope even if he is so loose pre. Seems unnecessarily risky given overall dynamics and future EV vs V.
sample size, and we should be staked, or have a bigger BRM balance then villain until we get a sample size. Do you know how wide 70/40 is?
Let the range converge. folding 80% of the time until range converges to something more reliable. But 20% have a little fund, I mean fun.

Im calling , maybe would jam if our stack was like 2.,5k to start hand , but V could be steaming his balls off and weve got top 2 and a holdem straight draw . F it
Im calling all rivers that arent a c, A , K, 7 or 6 imo. Maybe not a Q either as he could have AKKT AAKT etc
I'm calling and evaluating river vs. this guy. What did he have in the other hand?
Think your hand is just too strong to fold and you can certainly have straights here when you flat so he can't just blast off the river, and if he does you maybe have a strong enough hand to call
I folded and he showed TT4r with Tc. Hours later he claimed he had no equity which is possible.
