Thanksgiving 2024
Any buffet reccos? Leaning towards Caesars with my $100 annual food comp.
Also, the F1 race is the Saturday before T-day. Anyone remember how many days after the race until the roads were almost back to normal? I want to come into town a few days early, but I would think everything will still be screwed up for awhile.
stayed at the Edgewater on Tuesday night for reasons....Laughlin is depressing this time of year during the week :( like literally no one there. fwiw the Riverside Buffet is still open (and the only buffet left in Laughlin) but I saw no ads for TDay specials.
Laughlin is what it is. Don't go expecting Vegas glitz and glitter. Go expecting OMCs, RVs and cheap gambling. The in-laws including my wife enjoy the bingo, and I usually go for one session with them before or between pokers. My FiL likes to play nickel VP (one line, one coin). I just shake my head.
Last year, we hit the Riverview Restaurant. $20/person was well worth it. Bring ziptop bags or containers for your leftovers.
And there's the Kenny and Dolly tribute! I was talked into getting tickets for the whole krewe. Should be a hoot?
I can't help with Turkey Day meal suggestions but I'm going to be in town as well(11/23 - 11/30). I'm a nobody, but if you want to grab a drink or something at some point, hit me up. I'm always up for meeting new 2p2ers.
I also read that Aria has a deal that is running concurrently with Football season... $59 for all you can eat in the upstairs Proper Eats Food Hall area for 3 hours.
Not sure if any of the establishments would have something special for that date... but it would allow you to eat several different food styles. I looked online but I could not find anything specific.

Thanks, but I don't want several different food styles, I want Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving.

You are certainly not a "nobody'.
Wish I was going to be there to hoist one or two with you...
Is the culinary strike still going on? Would it affect buffets the most since they are shoveling out the most food?
Where are you noshing today pig?
And so...
And then...
So you have to cut it up to use the barbecue?
Caesars Bacchanal.
This will be my T-Day TR.
With my not being able to get reservations, I started getting nervous, and looking for a Plan B. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that I couldn't get reservations anywhere else that would be convenient either. Not much luck, but I settled on South Point buffet or restaurant if Bacchanal is too big a **** show. My plan was to eat early because there are afternoon basketball games I want to watch. The Thanksgiving food comes out at 11 am, so I should arrive at 10:30.
In typical, for me, fashion I'm riding the elevator down at 11:30. I was shocked to find almost no line. I've walked by the buffet before, seeing a huge line. Surprising, considering people usually do buffets to save money, and Bacchanal ain't cheap. You can eat at an above average restaurant for less. Having never been here before, there's a lot going on in the line. There's a place to check in, the line itself, then the cashier, then you finally get in. The check-in person directs me to the Diamond line, which I don't see. Because there is no line! One person in the cashier line, and a minute later I'm handing over my card.
The food choices are many but I don't care as long as there's turkey and stuffing. There's actually a carving station for the turkey. They bring out half a turkey at a time, split down the middle. If you like white meat, it gets taken first, so you might have to wait if there's still some turkey yet to be carved. I got lucky and arrived 30 seconds before a new half shows up. The stuffing was exceptional and I loaded upon it. There was also a taco station. I think it was a taco, I gave it a try. He cooked it on a flat grill, the whole thing, not like what Taco Bell does. It was pretty good. Turkey was good, although I like it dryer. They even had A1 sauce. No apple pie though, and I can't stand pumpkin pie. Punkins are weeds as far as I'm concerned. I've been having apple pie for TDay since I was a little kid. Oh well, I'll pick one up when I get home.
Overall, very good. Was it worth 94 bucks? Hell no! I would never have gone there if I didn't get it free. Sorta free.
happy Thanksgiving, hope you enjoy your time in Vegas.
it is super cold in North Dakota today but here's my plate. my favorite meal of the year
Nice looking spread, happy Tday to you too.
Decided to head over to the Palazzo to see the new room. I experienced a weird hand that you might find entertaining wrt my pain.
First of all, I suck at live cash. I only play 3 or 4 times a year, so to say I'm rusty is a vast understatement. This game I was in was loaded with bad players, if I could catch a run of cards, or maybe play halfway decent, I could clean up. But neither is happening. Early position limps for 3. I raise to 15 with AQ off-suit. Next to act, who's been playing bad and is short-stacked, shoves for 48. I know I'm calling/shoving if it gets to me unraised. It gets back to the limper, who raises to 150?? No, he's not 100 years old, he's an asian male in his mid-30's. I have to confess, I've never seen anyone under 80 do the limp re-raise. I've only got 260 or so, so it's essentially a shove. I'm only in for 15 so far and I'm confused, so I fold. Both reveal, the short-stack shows pocket 7's, about what I expected. The limp-shover has QQ????? He should have aces or kings at least. Of course an ace comes out on the flop and I would've scooped.
