Ukraine-Russia War Take 2
Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:
The site was hit with a massive spam attack where hundreds of spam threads were created. In the case where, for example, I see a single spam thread and delete it, that is called a soft delete, and mods can still see them but forum members cannot. Those deletion can be undone.
When a massive attack hits with hundreds of threads, an admin uses a different procedure where the hundreds of spam threads are merged and then hard deleted, where the threads are gone, and no note is left behind. As I have mentioned with my own experience of just soft deleting a large number of posts, sometimes a post or thread gets checked or merged accidentally and is deleted by mistake. Dealing with hundreds of spam threads takes a sledgehammer, not a scalpel.
It appears that our Ukraine thread may have gotten caught up in that recent net of spam threads. If so, it is likely gone for good. I cant say this for sure, and am awaiting comments from admins on this issue. Yes, this sucks. And hopefully there was some other software glitch that caused the disappearance, and we may recover it in the future.
But in the meantime, I have created this new Ukraine-Russia War thread to enable the conversation to continue. Obviously continuity with earlier discussions will be lost. There is no way around that. So as best as possible, let's pick up the conversation with recent events and go from there.
If you have any questions about this, please post them in the mod thread, not here. Let's keep this thread going with posts about the war, not the disappearance of the old thread.

If Trump is able to negotiate an end to the war where Russia keeps the land they already captured, but Ukraine isn't forced to cap their military and some sort of buffer zone with a peace force is established (like the one in Lebanon, but not useless); do you think this would be acceptable?
If you don't think it is acceptable that is fine. I dont even know if Putin would be willing to do this. I am just curious where your thoughts are.
I think Ukraine would go for this, and I think it's a good idea.
The problem is what that peace force actually entails. Ukraine's main concern is that any type of a peace deal only serves to give Russia time to gather and invade again. Considering the length of the Ukraine's border with areas Russia can invade from, this is massive. Not only would it need to cover the areas Russia is illegally annexing, it would need to cover the other border Ukraine has with Russia, and also the border that Ukraine has with Belarus since that was used for the 2022 invasion. This is a massive undertaking which seems to not be feasible.
IMHO that war will end with a new « Germany wall » but in Ukraine .

Some of that stuff is the same noodling that we are seeing ITT today. Mentioning the bio labs without explaining what relevance they have to anything regarding the invasion of Ukraine at a time when there is a conspiracy that Ukraine has weapons bio labs so Russia was justified in their invasion is a big coincidence.
If she is under the impression that "neutrality" means depriving a country of the right to pursue relationships with whoever they wish, then she's either got a very poor understanding of the word making her a useful idiot, or she is being intentionally deceitful.

Meanwhile all attempts to actually tie this event to Ukraine are ignored. It is pretty clear what he was trying to infer, but not willing to say.
If this has nothing to do with the Ukraine invasion beyond it being a reason given to hide it, then move it to a Nazi conspiracy thread. Its relationship to Ukraine is extremely minor.
If it is tied to Ukraine, for example if "the fact that they specifically wont do that bc of Ukraine should be quite concerning " then explain why. I would love to hear how he arrived at this conclusion too:
"those who are neutral with Nazism or support it would understandably be less concerned."

it was enough of a reason for this particular denial that one of the papers of record in Canada cited that particular reason in multiple headlines.
I been googling Russian fascination with nazis during all of this. Im intrigued. It reminds me of how modern humans are still afraid of large cats because they used to be predators millions of years ago . No one else in the world has this irrational fear of nazis but russia does because they lost so many people to them. in the west its mostly used as an insult and not actually as something that exists

right well my whole overarching thesis over many years and threads and topics is that they were not destroyed but rather subsumed.
Its called anxiety vic I suffer from it to but we have to realize its not real and its chemicals in the brain from are evolution no longer needed .
Although most of us today inhabit a world where there are few immediate threats to life, our modern brains retain this primitive ‘threat detection’ system which is constantly scanning the world for danger and problems that require our attention.

Do you know what the word alleged means. it means its not proven. so you don't release it because you are innocent untill proven guilty
just to be clear, "Canada" in this instance was just shorthand for their federal govt and in particular the govt entities that made that decision as context should have made clear to anyone reading in good faith.
