2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
Brag: Picked up Jameson Williams to beat team with Saquon.
Beat: Lose to guy who picked up Taysom Hill.
Variance: crushed by Boswell in two leagues. SMH.
It was the part about his red flags that made your post terrible. Stop trying to slip in the nonsense you spout in the politics section here please
I think Caleb's red flags are very much relevant. Many people thought this was a big concern in the draft. Caleb has all the physical tools but the mental side is concerning. Compare that to Bo Nix who isn't as talented physically but has a strong head on his shoulders.
Caleb had arguably his best game as a pro yesterday. He put his team in a position to win. Thomas Brown actually called plays to Caleb's strengths.
You've made multiple posts ragging on the Bears coaches, yet you're asking if Caleb's mental is the problem.
Bo Nix not being as talented physically, being a 5 year college player, etc. are all reasons he went as the 6th QB off of the board. In the long run, I'd still rather have Caleb, Maye, and Daniels.
There will be a lot of variance that decides who has the best career, but Bo still has the least amount of upside. He, not surprisingly, also probably has the best coaches of the 4.
What do you think Nix would look like in Chicago, NE, or Washington?

There are many problems in Chicago. I don't think Caleb's mental "is the problem" I just think it is a concern. Clearly the coaching and bad offensive line have played a part.
I get why Bo went 6th in the draft based on what you said. He has far exceeded his expectations. He is more athletic than people thought. His secret sauce is his high football IQ. His metrics continue to get better and better. He has shown that he has a strong arm and can make all the throws contrary to popular belief.
Bo does have the best coaches but also the worst talent to throw to besides Maye. Bo's numbers would be massive if his receivers could catch. People are saying he has the least upside based on what they were told in the pre draft. He is showing that he has plenty of upside. He may very well be a more athletic Drew Breese.
It's impossible to know how Bo would do in those other locations. Chicago is a trash organization so who knows. I think Bo is smarter than Caleb and better equipped to deal with the systemic issues. He'd probably be doing what Maye is doing in NE minus the turnovers. Daniels is quickly coming back to Earth in Washington. He had one big game. I think Bo would be more consistent there and be ascending instead of declining.
The majority of rookie QBs suck.
Every QB that goes to Chicago ends up sucking.
The only reason myself and others were convinced it might be different is the talent they surrounded Caleb with, but even that can't overcome a bad O-Line and terrible coaching.
Through week 9, Washington was the highest EPA offense in the league, on a per play basis. And literally set a record for least amount of turnovers with 3. It wasn't just one big game. They've since lost 2 games to two top 10 teams. I haven't checked the EPA stats since then, but I'm guessing EPA per play decreased. With that said, they still only had 1 turnover in each game.
Maye does things on a football field that only a few people in the world are capable of. Imagine if he had a WR of Sutton's caliber.
Caleb has been a generational prospect since his freshman year in college. We all agreed before the season even began that Waldron was a terrible OC. Thomas Brown isn't anything special, but after 1 game, the offense already looked much more functional.
Bo spent 3 terrible seasons at Auburn (coaching matters!) and spent 2 quality seasons at Oregon (coaching matters!), where he was a low aDot dump off merchant for one of the best teams in the country. Funny how they haven't missed a beat since he left. In hindsight, looks like Bo easily had the best college coaches the last 2 seasons too.
I do believe the league underestimated Bo's athleticism and ability to scramble/run, but as a pocket passer, Bo is simply average. Bo had a good game yesterday. The Falcons are basically the worst team in the league at applying pressure. Their pressure rate yesterday was 14% (league average 40%). Most QBs with the ability to play in the NFL will look good in that environment.

It took a couple years for Josh Allen to become elite. Mahomes sat out his rookie year. I think after year three is when you can more definitively say a QB is a boom or a bust. The exception would be a Herbert or Mahomes who came out of the gate firing. There are many rookie QB's who you know right away aren't the guy.
Another reason people thought it would be different in Chicago is because Caleb is a legit physical talent. I have a feeling that he will follow in the foot steps of Trevor Lawrence. I don't trust the Bears will be smart enough to bring in a legit coach. I think his talent will over come the poor Chicago infrastructure and he will at minimum be a solid pro.
Well I certainly hope Bo has another good game next week as i'm playing him since it's Burrow's bye week

I'd be careful getting too into it with the statistical analysis. This got a lot of people into trouble during best ball season. Bo Nix for example should have much better stats but unfortunately his receivers can't catch. They also have trouble getting open. Sutton has been good but he has dropped some balls and fumbled a few times when Denver was in scoring position. Lil Jordan Humphry drops a pass or fumbles every week it seems. The sky will be the limit when they get a superstar opposite Sutton. Just imagine when Denver gets a legitimate pass catching TE. All the other rookie QB's have a quality TE. They also have star RB's.
Payton has yet to fully unleash the play book. As Nix gets more comfortable we will see him throwing more from the pocket. As it is, he is one of the best throw on the run QB's in the league.
Don't blame Bo because he has good coaching. He is doing exactly what Payton wants him to do. Has Ohio State missed a beat since Stroud left? Oregon is a perennial top team.
Don't forget that Bo had a nice game against a very good Chiefs defense on the road. Denver should have won that game.
****, I had no idea that Mondre, Swift, and BRob were star RBs.
I wouldn't exactly call Henry, Kmet or 34 year old Ertz quality TEs. They're servicable.
Caleb is the only QB we are discussing that actually has quality WRs. Terry is good at what he does, but he's a middle of the pack 1. And they have no one behind him.
No one is blaming Bo for having good coaching. Simply stating that it's a factor.
The funny thing about statistical analysis, at least advanced analysis beyond box score watching, is that it generally accounts for both positive and negative environmental factors. That's not to say that all biased is removed, but in the long run, it'll do pretty well.
Your confirmation bias is a hell of a drug.
Canales is so friendly. Letting Brooks make his debut against the Chiefs.
What does everyone's current highest scoring BB team look like?
Here's mine. The Burrow/Chase combo is nice, but they don't have the easiest W17 matchup against Denver. Although they looked fine against the Chargers last night.
I was told ITT not to look at my BB teams until week 15. :p
May actually stop my 4 game slide this week, it only took Kincaid to die (forced to pick up Dissley) and Rice+Collins both dead the last month so had to use 50% of my FAAB on Jennings - add in Hall finally producing like a first round pick and somehow Dobbins runs a miracle last second score and here we are trying to hold a 13 point lead.
Collins +13 vs Dowdle & Fairbairn. I gotta be a decent favorite here right?
lol - forgot to add getting to this point also involved the desperation add that is MVS who thankfully is on bye this week so we dont have to tempt fate 3 weeks in a row since we have all seen this movie and know how it ends
Yeah, I'd take Collins + 13 vs Dowdle/Fairbairn every time. Hoping they feed Nico targets in his first game back.
I have some sweats.
Down 13.22 with Collins vs no one.
Already have the matchup locked up here, but up 16.64 with Hou DST versus Mixon/Fairbairn for weekly high scorer bonus.
Down 4.48 with CD versus Stroud.
Gabe Davis out for the year. Not that he was really doing much this season, but he was my highest owned.

My highest scoring in bbm is pretty hilariously dead due to injuries
What could have been with those receivers. Having only Lamar isn’t great, but you could have still had a shot.
RBs could still give you a shot, but you need JJ to be WR1 overall and run good with DeVonta, Wicks, Bateman and Brown.
Crazier things have happened.
My highest scoring team is 1791. Put up 221 this week
Qb : Dak , Herbert
Rb : Jacobs , Brian Robinson jr , Kamara , Chubb , Rashaad White
Wr : Bateman , Demarcus Robinson , Pop Douglas , Elijah Moore , Dj Moore , Davante Adams , Mvs , Chase , Jameson Williams , Juann Jennings
Te : Taysom , Bowers , Hunter Henry

The order you typed your players in is tilting me haha
Haha I read the first few receivers and was like wtf?
That’s a really fun squad. Dak injury hurts.
This is an example where stacking can really increase upside by betting on offenses. Imagine Burrow, Goff, or Maye on that team.
Also another reason why I think 3-6-8-3 or 3-7-7-3 on DK is most optimal, and it’s not that close. UD obviously a much tougher construction.
lol I just typed then in the order I saw them .
Next year I’m doing 3/6/8/3 no matter what . Sick of getting screwed by injuries .
1668 (DK) before tonight, 215 this week:
Burrow, Nix
JT, Mostert, Chase Brown, Bucky, Kendre Miller (meh), Will Shipley (meh), Perine (meh)
ARSB, Nabers, Tee, Ladd, Wicks, Sutton, Mims, Wandale Robinson
McBride, Kittle, Taysom (prob didn't need 3 TEs...)
