Trump 2nd term prediction thread
So, looks like Trump not only smashed the electoral college, but is looking on track to win the popular vote, which seems to be an unexpected turn of events, but a clear sign of the current temperature in the country and perhaps the wider world.
Would be interested to hear views on how his 2nd term will pan out from both sides of the aisle - major happenings, what he's going to get done, what he's not going to get done, the impact of his election on the current conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, whether his popularity will remain the same, wane, or increase, etc.
A bit of an anemic OP, I know, just interested to hear people's thoughts now that the election uncertainty is over.
There's a decent chance JFK would make america healthier. Especially if there's a pandemic or two
No.. the president can just make someone an acting cabinet member w/o confirmation. You're supposed to only do this for a limited time, and then officially appoint someone. But who's going to enforce that w/ Trump? They didn't last time.
that's not how it works at all please check again your books
I will agree with him that fruit & veg in America tends to be pretty tasteless compared to what you get in Europe, at least it was when I was there 20 years ago. No idea why that is though.
Especially tomatoes. Tomatoes in America are ****ing terrible.
because tomatoes are only good on season and season isn't yearlong.
they lied to you
yeah seems like something that only becomes obvious in hindsight. i can understand the violent reactions to his vax rhetoric, but the left going hard against his "remove dangerous artificial additives from food" strikes me as TDS-by-proxy. if michelle obama advocated for it as part of her health campaign i feel like roles would've been flipped and dems would've been behind it 100%. liberals are quick to point out how far we lag behind EU regulations in so many fields, but suddenly yellow #20 dye
normal decent people on the right actually said "wtf, Michelle is super right let's support her efforts" because normal decent people can support what they like and oppose what they don't like
I lived in America for more than a year. Also, why can I get nice tomatoes in London all year round? Seems like the technology to make that a reality must exist. Does it exist only in Europe?
I'm relating a personal experience. Who lied to me? The tomatoes?

that sounds nice in theory but guaranteed 95%+ of the right would've lambasted it
i don't even think the right cares much today, but they are delighted it's triggering the left so much
in many ways rfk's rhetoric is the ghost of what democrats used to value as far as opposing corporate interests and environmental degradation, but now everyone's picked their teams and he's not us so we have to debunk literally everything he says
This is the rare situation in which both Hanania and you are right about something. Hanania is correct that RFK Jr. should have no role in public life. And you are correct that Hanania generally should not be trusted.
why do you dislike hanania? he is to my left but I feel on my skin he actually believes what he says. he is trustworthy in the sense that I can trust he actually believes and is willing to defend his claims.
I wouldn't love him with power as he is too much to my left but I don't hate him as much as I do deeply hate a lot of leftists.

personally I always thought Michelle efforts where under-covered by media and she got scorned (for good reasons) for other stuff she defended but her nutritional takes were common sense agreeable and if they had become the norm life would have been better for residents of the USA.

because the Netherlands have the best greenhouses in the world by a large margin (like no one else is remotely close) and you get your expensive off season tomatoes from the dutch and they are the best off season tomatoes worldwide.
we do in northern Italy as well but they are 9-10 Eur/kilo for 8/10 quality vs 3-4 Eur /kilo for our 9/10 quality in the summer.
still absurd for off season but Americans get shitty Chinese tomatoes
Yup. So Trump got votes because people like how much of a ****ing ******* he is, not because of his economic plans. Ergo, Trump voters are dogshit. And they now are the majority in America. Ergo, America is now dogshit.
erto Americans are actually right wing and if you don't completely hate democracy you should accept that and it's consequences.
if you are anti democratic and despise the idea that people can choose their government then everything is fine with your posting
Ya, he can... it's supposed to be:
A current deputy or first assistant to the vacant position. A senior official from the same department or agency who has served for at least 90 days in a position at GS-15 pay level or higher. Or another individual, including someone outside the government, who has already been confirmed by the Senate for another position.
Trump violated FVRA rules last time he was president when he appointed Chad Wolf (DHS) and Matthew Whitaker (DOJ).
So again... who's going to enforce the rules when it didn't happen last time?
I love how a non-US citizen lectures me on American government, though.

so the person who will get the job isn't appointed by the president, the interim roll will go to people already in the institution

I’m pretty sure the point is he didn’t follow that rule. As in the rule said who the internal options are allowed to be and he picked someone outside that - as with Wolf and Whitaker.
Time to watch the game. Y'all keep this thread clear of the riff raff till I get back k?

It’s like the chatbot can only put people in two boxes: those that agree with crazy views or evil.
