Time for another Vegas TR! Now with fast cars. 21st November to 30th November

Well what a year it has been since my last TR!

However just when I thought my annual November trip would not happen I get a call from a friend saying that his nephew works for McLaren F1 and can get us pit passes for the F1 in Vegas if we wanted to go. Well I am not sure I snap called as quickly in my life. Flights now booked, hotel all sorted and pass from my better half all done!

Going to be a longer stay this time as my friend and I are going for 9 nights.

I am flying for the first time with Virgin Atlantic on the 21st from London

Staying at the Horseshoe (Bally's) for 9 nights. 7 of these are comped which includes the F1 weekend which I have seen have been going for crazy prices. So only had to pay for the last 2 nights we are there. Think it was around $180 in total and that stupid resort fee (will see if I can get that comped when there).

Plan of action for me is to spend the weekend at the F1. I am hoping all this pit pass and stuff provides us with plenty of free food, drink and some fun experiences. I honestly am really looking forward to this part.

Will plan some shopping again as I can get some Christmas presents for the kids and the fact it is Black Friday while out there, hopefully pick up a few cheap deals.

Poker wise as my friend is a tournament player I will be joining him in a few but plan to play cash as much as I can.

Also have to keep my diamond status so I am sure there will be some degen action!

Here we go then. 36k UT

Well done! Love Ellis Island -- you can't really beat it. I always have a beer with breakfast, though 😉

Yeah, Ellis Island breakfasts are great. Reasonably priced, and gets you out for a nice walk in the morning.

GL in the tournament day 2!

update please!

Sure. 16 left. We are sat on 555k at 10/25k level

Boom - good luck! Assume in the money? How much up top

Boom - good luck! Assume in the money? How much up top

1st $36,184
2nd $24,122
3rd $16,718
4th $11,829
5th $8,548
6th $6,312
7th $4,765
8th $3,679
9th $2,907
10th-11th $2,352
12th-13th $1,949
14th-17th $1,656

Final table. Stack 745k. Probably the shortest stack but blinds are 20/40k so still movement

Have a final stack photo folks. Oh and Barry Shulman is on my left.

And just like that I am out.

Folds to SB who raises to 85k at 20/40k

I look down at QTss and with 80k already in I ship it for 745k

He snaps QQ. Had played with him previously and it was super aggressive and I don't think folding QTss is ever the optimum play. Also calling is pretty bad

Unlucky. So 9th?

Unlucky. So 9th?

Nah FT was bizarrely 10 handed.

Probably will do a little write up later. Going to head to the room and chill for a bit.

Nice cash nonetheless.

Great job making a final table!

That’s a notable achievement by any standard.

So a little day 2 recap.

We start the day with 260,000 and are sat 23/55 in the chip stacks.

After seeing the payouts the plan is to try and at least get top 4. Although tournaments are not my forte I played with enough of some of these day 2 players from yesterday and we are pretty confident on how to exploit some of their errors

For example yesterday had some bizarre river bets which were far too thin so we were hoping to tangle with him.

It did not take long but we got to hand for hand at 53 players. This is where I started to chip up. I picked on stacks similar or lower to mine.

For example blinds 8000/16000 a weaker player raised to 35k. I called in the BB with Q8cc

Flop 954 which hits me more than it does him. I check and he fires out a cbet of 40k. I have 250k behind and shove on him. He had a stack of 305k and with 1 player to bust until a min cash he can only call with a few hands. He tanks, mutters, grumbles and complains saying how can I shove here. He asks if I show him if he folds. I reply of course I will so he folds and I muck haha. Not sure he was too impressed with that.

During the bubble I chip up to 430k. The bubble finally burst and the action heats up with short stacks pumping it in for a double or bust. I choose the wrong time to be completely card dead. However I just hang around, pick my spots and steal blinds when I can. Honestly I would love to say I got involved in plenty of pots but I did not.

We get down to the final 2 tables and I am on around 11bb. Again this was just a case of picking spots, shoving when I have an ace against active players and navigating my way to the final table. I am pretty sure I did not get the chance to show down as the shoves were getting through. Although it was nice to have a stack where you could 3bet fold if needed.

I did manage to 3bet an active player with AQ just before the FT. He folded AJ up which was good play on his behalf.

As you know I busted 10th shoving QTss into QQ. My shove was for 18bb over a 2.2bb raise which maybe have been a bit too much but I did not want to 3 bet fold here. Yes ICM probably comes into consideration but I was the shortest stack on the table and i really wanted the win. So lol ICM shove it in their eye FTW!!!!!

So 100% record in WSOP circuit events with 2 cashes from 2 tournaments.

I am gonna rub some hundos on my titties and degen for a bit.

Really appreciate your support everyone in the tournament and would love to have won it for the TR. Maybe some tournament players want to slate me for my FT play or support me. Who knows.

Not too shabby!!! Nothing wrong going for first.

Will Ferrell's dad always told him if you're not first, you're last.

Well done!

Not sure I like the "yes, I'll show" and then folding, but to each their own. I'm a big believer of Karma, even at the poker table 😉

Congratulations on the cash. Kind of agree with Mrs. Newt, except the karma part. First law of thermodynamics still works.

I probably should put some context to the guy I refused to show to. He was being a loud mouth douche all of day 1 and generally just not a nice person at the table.

Thought a taste of his own medicine was in order.

That sounds much more reasonable! Well done, again 😉

GTO answers to 'will you show if I fold'

if you have it...say yes
if you don't have it...say no

So the poker has taken its toll on my body for sure.

I have been suffering from a weak rotator cuff recently and have been having physio weekly to sort it. However clearly my bad posture sat at the tables has flared it up and I woke up this morning in utter agony.

I search around for a sports massage online and Caesars Palace have a therapist at their spa who can help. Typical Vegas though they are going to charge me $450 for the privilege. However not to worry we are up for the trip and it's a 100 minute massage so they should sort it out the terrible knot I have.

P played the seniors game last night and cashed that so he is in high spirits this morning. We grab breakfast and I don't eat much due to the pain. This is really starting to bug me and my 4pm appointment cannot come quick enough.

Anyway he wants to play the 12pm daily at the Wynn and I say there is no chance I am going as I am going to chill around here until my appointment.

I head down to the casino floor and see one of the slots have all the firecrackers at the top of each section and from seeing a few YouTube videos from some slot players this looks like it will hit the bonus soon. So I stick in $300 and I start to max bet. Some guy comes up to me and tells me that he was playing on this slot and did I not see his players card there. I looked around and could not see a thing. Not sure if he was trying it on but I said I just sat down after another guy was here so he might have your card. Anyway I start to spin and low and behold BANG it hits the bonus.

End result

I cash the ticket out pretty happy but still a bit confused to the guy that approached me.

Feeling lucky I head over to blackjack with my $300 initial bet and the shoe is hot. I won plenty of hands in a row and I was soon up to over $2k.
For fun the $40 odd I had over the 2k I ask the dealer if she wants to play a hand for her tip. She agreed and dealt me 17 against her 8. She flips over another 8 then a 9 for a bust so she won herself a $80 tip.

My appointment is soon so I head over to Caesars and check into the spa. I get ready in the changing rooms and wait in the tea room, grab myself a water and I am soon called in. Honestly had one of the best sports massages ever and the lady was so friendly and knew her stuff. She had been doing this for 30 years and I feel all better, pain free and to top it off she said I had full access to the spa.

She advised me to use the artic room for recovery so I sat in there for a bit. Soon after I had a dip in the hot tub and fully relaxed. Not felt this good in such a long time and it was what I needed for sure. The thought of it being expensive soon fell out of my mind as I got the spa treatment and now ready to take the world on!

Not sure what the evening plan is now but I don't care I am so relaxed. If anyone has considered using a spa here I 100% recommend

Not even a wristy for $450?

Wonder if they can fix up my bad back. I got to Caesars today, and played the Circuit Double Stack. I'm nowhere near as good as OP, no cash for moi. I was surprised there's no fridge in the room, just a mini-bar. I mentioned to the operator on the phone I was surprised, and she offered to send one up for free because I'm Diamond. Yes please and thank you.

She was a professional, not a pro.
