NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

NCAA FOOTBALL 2024 MEGA THREAD - WELCOME TO THE PLAYOFF ERA

Just 8 days until Florida State plays Georgia Tech!

A lot happened while you were away:

Texas and Oklahoma joined the SEC

The Pac-12 went out in a blaze of glory:
Oregon, Washington, USC and UCLA are headed to the B1G
Utah, Arizona, Arizona State and Colorado are headed to the B12
Cal and Stanford along with SMU are somehow headed to the ACC
Poor old Wazzu and Oregon State are now aligned with the MWC in some sort of in-flux relationship

The conferences are huge now, and the schedules are wildly imbalanced. Florida might have the hardest schedule in the history of the sport, while Missouri's playing a sun-belt slate.

FSU and Clemson play each other, but then play ZERO common ACC opponents

Utah/Baylor and Arizona/Kansas State play non-conference games against conference opponents

LSU and USC play in Vegas!

Boise goes to Oregon, a team they've never lost to!

Texas at Michigan!

Alabama at Wisconsin!

Notre Dame at ATM!

Clemson vs Georgia!

And there are some incredibly juicy new conference matchups:

Texas @ ATM is back!

Texas vs Georgia

Oregon vs Ohio State

USC @ Michigan

USC vs Penn State

And then the bizarre:

UCLA @ Rutgers is now a conference game

Syracuse plays home and away against Cal and Stanford for some reason

Half the teams have new coaches, transferred quarterbacks, or both!

Let's get it on!

GT's 2pt play calling has been atrocious

GT gets that roughing call if the QB falls down

This game is bananas... B-A-N-A-N-A-S

**** it, let's do (at least) 6

by Tom Ames k

Why even give them OTs in the 3+ OTs? Waste of time.

At least make them get cattle-prodded for calling one.

LOLOLOLOL

Flag Kirby for unsportsmanlike conduct.

flag later than the OSU/Miami one from the Natty many years ago.

this game may never end

lol if he hands the sweep off it's over

The Jet Sweep walks in there.

Chain Kirby to the bench!

Never in doubt

****ing GT

GT colossally disappointing there. So many blown chances due almost entirely to playcalling.

Damn. Looks like I missed an all timer.

I feel like if UGA loses that, they lose to Texas and they're out of the playoff, and if they win, they win the natty

I watched the last few overtimes in the sports book at Cherokee, where lots of ATLiens are in town for the WSOP.

One guy was live betting Tech every time the overtime odds refreshed, getting +200 to +400 after every stop or score. He said he eventually had 20k spread out, all on Tech money line, at various numbers. He said he’d have to take out a HELOC if the game went a few more overtimes, lol.

There was an apoplectic ERUPTION after every play, both ways, from about the 3rd overtime on.

Glad Georgia got a good result (never in doubt!) With another quality victory, we should still be in even if we lose the SECCG, right?

Got out of a show as overtime started sat at a slot 5 captain and cokes and 20 bucks lost a good night spent

I think they're still in if they lose which obviously makes this win HUGE. Btw this is where the playoffs has changed me. Last year this result would've devastated me at least for a few minutes. This year as an Ohio state hater I would've been devastated if GT had won. I need Georgia in the playoffs. Want Ohio State's road to be as tough as possible. I'm already annoyed enough that Georgia hasn't been as good as projected this year but they're so Jekyll and Hyde, I still think they beat Ohio st if they're on their A game.

don't think they're winning the natty w Beck under center

I want to hammer Kentucky like I've been doing the last 5 years. But they've won too many in a row in the series and it feels fishy. I took a little 4.5 but no outright big play. Bawk bawk bawk. Chicken.

Glad Geo

The committee has been extremely stupid about how low they've rated UGA here (and this is coming from a Certified SEC Hater™) and I think ESPN has realized it and was selling the "win and in" narrative extremely hard last night to almost put the committee to the test

In my opinion, there is absolutely no way an 10-3 UGA team that has wins @ Texas, n Clemson and v Tennessee should get left out or even be remotely close to the cutting line, and I think it's almost certain the committee would agree.

Especially since one of the most plausible teams to replace them would be...Clemson

if UT > ATM, UT > UGA it's a billion percent stone cold iron clad lock

if ATM > UT, ATM > UGA, that creates one fewer space, but I still don't see how 10-3 UGA is getting cut over 10-2 Tennessee or 10-2 Texas teams teams that they beat soundly h2h, much less over 11-2 SMU/Miami. Maybe if they lose to ATM by 30 or something, but I just don't see it

Georgia should get in but the announcers shouldn't be pushing for it. Also ESPN licenses a gambling site.

Do they even have oversight?
