Gone 3.5 years... what has changed?

From 2010 to 2021 I was playing live low-limit for 10 - 15 hours per week or ~600 hours per year. I moved to Virginia 3 years ago and didn't have options near me and have played maybe two 5 hour sessions on vacation over the last 3.5 years. Now with Caesars Virginia opening up in a couple weeks, I have a reasonable option.

Curious what, if anything, has changed over the last 3.5 years. I remember the games were still very beatable in early 2021 (I was averaging about 10BB/hour at 1/2 from 2018 to 2021 w/o a regular 2/5 option), but they still were not nearly as easy as they were in the early 2010s.

I'm excited to have a regular option and would love any insights into how the play might be different at the 1/2 or 2/5 level. Thanks!

can definitely write a tome for this but really quickly how far are you from the MGM Harbor in DC? ive only heard incredible stories bout the games there though (just glanced at the bravo right now its got 28 damn tables runnin - more than any other spot on the east coast)

it may be worth your time to plan some trips to DC if the drive isnt too bad if you plan to reg games again just for table selection options.

I'm in "South Central" VA, and have a W2 plus some side hustles, so Danville >>>> DC if we are talking about playing 1 to 2 times per week, even though DC may have a lot more action.

Most recent poker patch made jacks bigger than queens.

In my games the fish are now weak tight, so some adjustments are needed there. But there are still plenty of fish. The real key is to learn PLO since many home games that run NLHE also do PLO bomb pots.

I'm in Richmond, BTW!

If you were beating the games comfortably upwards of only 3.5 years ago, you'll still beat them quite comfortably today.

With the advent of solvers bet sizings of 1/3 pot are way more frequent and get more respect (at least at low/mid stakes). I guess this was already the case in 2021 though. And at 1/2 or 1/3 who even knows what's going on half the time. And you'll have to adapt to the specific game anyway so any advice in this thread is probably effectively useless.
